Great rack!
Sturdy and a great fit. Be careful how you mount it though because it could scratch your trunk. Would have liked rubber on vertical posts, but otherwise it is a well made rack! See attached pic with it mounted on our '99 Mercedes E320 with two fairly heavy cruiser bikes.

Not just a good rack for the price, it's a really good rack.
After going back and forth on whether to buy this bike rack versus a Thule rack that cost 3 times as much, I am so happy I decided on this one. I purchased it to haul 2 expensive bikes 7 hrs on freeways and winding mountain roads on my Mazda 5. The rack is sturdy and very good quality. It was easy to mount on the car, didn't slip or loosen at all even with frequent opening of the back of the car, and didn't scratch or damage my car at all. It held the bikes tight with no bouncing or jiggling and I was able to mount my women's bike without a cross-bar adapter. This bike rack is far better quality than the price suggests, and it's not just good quality for the price. It's a good quality rack.

A Precautionary Tale
I have no negative feedback for the bike rack itself. It's sturdy and relatively easy to assemble. Of course if you have a non-straight bar on your bike you need to buy the adapter, which is understandable. The precautionary tale is when you have a hatchback you need to be cautious when backing up. I backed up into a parking spot, unknowingly pushed the rack against the wall, and the pressure ended up bursting my hatchback window. (No, the bike rack does not rest on the window. It sits on the actual body of the car, but put enough pressure in that spot and the window will break.) This is not due to a fault in the rack itself, it is my own fault for not paying attention. If you have a hatchback and have a bike rack/ looking into this one, just be aware of your surroundings and don't do what I did.

Very stable and secure trunk based bike carrier
Liked the overall design of the bike carrier with both lateral and vertical straps to minimize vibration and sway, and the rubber pads to minimize stress and scratches on the car frame. It fit perfectly on my Toyota Prius, almost like it was a custom design. However, the bike once mounted on the carrier needs to be secured with bungee cords or other means to prevent the bike swinging into the car and scratching the bumper and license plate area. Also, it reduces rear visibility as will any trunk based car carrier, and requires extra caution in heavy city traffic.

this rack for the price is a trooper, 70- 80 mph no problem... easy-to-use mount and dismount..... 5 minute's if done correctly... ok perfect of you don't want to ride around with a bike rack attached to the ride

Great buy!
I have only used it once, but so far I find it to be a great product! We went to some bike trails about 90 minutes round trip. Mostly interstate doing 70+. The bikes were very secure thoughout the entire trip. As stated in other reviews, you do have to get a bit creative to strap down women's bikes and I agree the hooks should have a plastic coating. Because of this, I would give it a 4.5 if possible. However, I am impressed to round up to 5 stars. I had zero issues, but as a precaution, I did stop after about 15 highway miles to re-tighten straps. Better safe than sorry.

Best I've used in years!
I absolutely LOVE this bike rack for so, so many reasons. It's super light weight. I think it weighs less than 10 lbs. So versatile. I use it on a Prius, but the cog wheels will allow you to change for regular trunks or the flat backs of SUVs. I hooked the top hooks, and no longer adjust them. They determine all the rest of the manipulation. The straps on the bar that hold your bike are a thick rubber, probably will stretch, but, again, will adjustable to be tighter down the road (sorry, pun intended). These bars hold the bulk of the weight, contrary to one of the other reviews I read, and are strong and stable. There are SIX, count them, six straps you can just to hold your bike just as stable and still as you like. When I get mine strapped in it doesn't even wiggle when I drive. The clips to hold the straps are easily to use at the same time they're very secure and strong. Had a rack like this many years ago (not as good quality) and loved it. Since then I have tried the hitch kind. Had a hitch installed on my car just for that reason. Hate them! I just am not comfortable when my bike is wriggling and giggling while I drive. I want it still and secure. I also want something that's not too heavy for me (I'm 70+ yrs, don't need to be lifting heavy bars - although I do lift my bike onto this rack easily.

2006 Toyota Matrix owner and I love this bike rack
9 hours on the interstate from Maryland to Myrtle Beach, and then another four hours from Myrtle Beach to Greenville, SC and it didn't budge. 2006 Toyota Matrix owner and I love this bike rack. I loaded this rack down too, I had a vintage late 70's model Schwinn road bike and my mid 90's huffy hybrid on it. Both of those bikes weigh a lot and this rack didn't budge, not a bounce. I will say though that had my license plate not been in the perfect spot I would have had to take the closest pedal off of the Schwinn. All in all though I am happy, very happy.

and it is a great product, bikes didn't even move
I have used it once so far, and it is a great product, bikes didn't even move, very firm, well build, heavy duty straps, i am very satisfied with the purchase. Great for my mini van.

Love this bike rack !!
I was unsure of a trunk mounted bike rack - I had a hitch mounted unit on my van but got rid of the van so I had to get something for my car. I was concerned that a trunk mounted unit might damage the trunk or not be very secure. I read all the reviews and I was really glad I paid a little extra and ended up buying this product. Love this bike rack - Easy to set up, mount and take off the car...5 minutes to attach or remove after the first setup to adjust to fit your car, Very sturdy and secure when carrying 2 adult bikes. The straps tighten easily for secure mounting to the trunk. Bike frame fits in cradles with hold downs. In addition there is a red safety strap to secure bikes to the rack. Padded bars and coated trunk hooks protect the trunk well. Great product !! Exceeded my expectations.
