Great converter, audio conversion has no problems
This converter actually works incredibly well, it does exactly as it's meant to do, convert a digital signal to an analog signal without any background noise or anything else otherwise detectable. It certainly wins bonus points for being one of the only converters with a micro usb port for power (I've used a small, blackberry charger with an output of 5V and 750mA and it works fine), and also having a built in 3.5mm port rather than just the left and right RCA audio channels. However, just two things I'd like to point out so anyone with specific needs may know. First of all, when i tried plugging in my 3.5mm aux cable, I heard a loud droning noise with partial audio coming through my connected speakers, which meant it had an improper plug in. I had to push it in with quite a bit of force that when i heard a loud click, I thought it broke, but then the audio came through perfectly with no background noise. It may have just been an overly tight holder, the piece that keeps the cable in place. But it's certainly concerning if you plan to constantly unplug and replug an aux cable. I'd suggest possibly having a dedicated cable for the converter. Secondly, the power on light, is actually rather bright, and can been seen through the RCA ports, and is noticeable at night. These are minor quirks, and certainly do not detract from the functionality of the converter. If you do not care for the aesthetics and the (presumably) strong 3.5mm outlet, then this is a great converter. Especially as I mentioned before, the micro usb outlet for power and the 3.5mm outlet.

Optical continues to work flawlessly
Desperate for a way to connect my audio headphones to my Samsung TV, I took a chance on this small, lowly converter and it worked - It worked beautifully, and continues to work flawlessly for the months It's been installed. I have two wireless headphones (RCA 900mhz) with a base unit that connects to a sound source via a 3.5mm connector. I connected the converter to the TV's optical audio-out (and to ac power), plugged the 3.5mm connector from the headphone base to the converter-out, turned on the TV, set it's sound to "optical", turned on the headphones ( both of them), and viola, I had sound, beautiful sound. This converter is a gem of a discovery. (I also discovered something about my smart UHD Samsung TV. I had thought that it could produce sound through only one output at a time, That is, it would produce sound to TV speakers, or the receiver, or optical, but never to more than one at a time. Playing with the TV's settings with the converter working, I discovered that it can and does deliver sound to both the receiver and optical-out at the same time. [so now people can listen to the TV with headphones AND with 5.1 receiver sound.])

Works well
I bought this in order to hookup a new tv that doesn’t have analog rca audio output to an older stereo that only has an analog audio input. Worked exactly as expected. Was surprised that the power cord didn’t come with an adapter to plug the usb end into an outlet BUT it wasn’t an issue because the tv has a USB port that I used to power this device. I’m happy with this purchase but I’ll update this review if it fails prematurely.

Virutec Computer Repair Approved.
I run a small computer repair store and only leave reviews on the things I feel meet expectations. I am giving this item a 5 star because It works great with no problems. We probably spend over $50,000 a year on Amazon for our business, so finding the right parts in a timely matter at an affordable price so I can make some profit is key. We rely on Amazon to keep us in stock with parts.

Worked great
I bought this because I recently replaced my Blu-ray player with a newer model. The newer model did not have the red/white, left/right RCA audio jacks that would normally plug into my (older) wireless headphones. So I bought this converter to do the job. Well it ended up working just fine. I plugged the power cord into one of the USB ports on the TV, so the unit powers up whenever I turn on the TV. Just make sure the audio output of your device is set to PCM audio (as outlined in the instructions). Otherwise, you will just hear static on your headphones (with Dolby output). As it happened, the default audio output setting of my Blu-ray player was "auto". As such, I could hear the bonus features on the disk but the main feature was static. I went to the settings on the Blu-ray player and set the output audio to be PCM (not Dolby). Everything worked fine after that.

It works!
I bought this to replace a similar Insignia brand model that I got from Best Buy. The Insignia worked, but it died after two months. It cost over twice as much as this one and did not include the digital optical cable. Also, it receives power from a plug in "wall wart", which tied up another precious outlet in my living room. This unit gets power from the USB on my TV and the USB cable was included! It already beats the Insignia for these reasons. If it lasts for a year or more I'll be more than happy with the purchase.

The sound through my monitors is great. I've been startled after a quiet scene in ...
Bought a Samsung TV, but didn't realize that it had no RCA audio outs. It only had the optical digital output. I had run the audio out on my old TV to a small mixer & then to powered studio monitors. I had some noise at high volumes and occasionally had loud noise for some reason & had to cycle power on the TV (lousy audio out). This unit is very quiet. I mean no hiss at all (at the volumes I use). The sound through my monitors is great. I've been startled after a quiet scene in a movie when the gunfire starts. The fiber optic cable plugged into my TV's optical digital output, the other end into the converter, powered it with a USB on the TV, plugged RCAs into my mixer, and cranked it up. Great for the price and got it fast. Very satisfied.....so far!

Works as expected
My wife had bought us a sound bar for our bedroom tv for Christmas and upon trying to set it up I determined that the only port actually with SOUND OUT was the SPDIF and not RCA. So off to Amazon to see if I can find some kind of adapter. I came across this and it seemed to be just what I was looking for. Showed up, took me about 3 minutes to wire up, and then it was all about getting into the tv settings to ensure that sound was being sent to the port. BAM! Works great, easy setup and exactly what I needed

Worked right out of the box!
Simply, it works. I bought this because my TV do not have an auxillary out that I can use with my mixer. The box is super easy to set up, just hook up the power to the box, then attach the provided optical coax to the box. Then connect your RCA red and white coax, and voila, sound! One issue that I encounter that you may is that if you do connect to a mixer or an amp, fiddling around with it while the mixer/amp is on might cause the sound to disappear. But unplug and replug the power to the box seems to help.
