I love the place mats

I love the place mats! My 5yr old son is learning the continents at school so he enjoys staring at the placemats while eating. He looks at it daily and is not bored by it. The maps reiterrates what he is learning at school. He already can identify all the continents and locates many of the different states. I also love how they have liberty bell and statue of liberty in PA and NY, now that gives us more cool things to explore.

Mom and kid appoved!

We love these placemats! My kids (12 and 10) instantly started to talk about the solar system - even started a lively debate about Pluto being a planet! It was great to talk about something educational without them realizing it! The placemats are flexible without being too thin. Colors are great and the text is very easy to read. They stick to the table well and clean up is easy. We will be ordering more placemats from merka.

Awesome and educational placemats

These placemats are so awesome!! I initially bought them for the US map to show my daughter different states, as we have friends and family living throughout the US. She was asking a lot questions about where certain people live and I wanted a nice visual for her to reference. I wanted something smaller & not too big. I love how the the state map shows icons that are relevant to each state, i.e. Georgia has a peach, and so on. These are so great at mealtime! First off, they're educational, great design with colors and easy to read, and my four year old daughter is thoroughly enjoying these! She already knows all of the planets from practicing at mealtime. Mealtimes for parents can be annoying and frustrating, but these help to make it more fun. Second, they are a great quality--easy to wipe clean and have a rubber backing so they stay put on that table (nice feature!) I highly recommend these!!

I loved the table mats and my twin grandsons loved them they are 7 years old. The mats are very informative and they read them and swap them with each other when they sit down to eat. One reads about the stars & one shares info regarding the states & the world. Because it included 4 mats they change mats each time they sit down to eat. I bought them to keep at my house when they visit but they loved them so much they wanted to take them home so I think I will have to purchase another set.

Perfect placemats for us

I was searching for place mats for my children, and read reviews of so many different kinds before choosing these. I am glad I did. They are the perfect size, they don't slip around the table, and they are easily cleaned. My children love to look at the images and lots of interesting conversations result from their questions. We love these!

Great tool for protecting your table and teaching your kids!

These are great! My two year-olds love them and can already point out the USA on the world map and our state on the United States map. Today, my daughter used the human anatomy placemat, and was delighted to point out "bones!" They are picking information up off these mats some much more quickly than I could have anticipated, and that is exactly why I purchased them. The other important thing to know about these mats is that they are large, great quality, and easy to clean. We've only had them a week so I can't speak to durability, but I can definitely attest to their ability to handle most messes and wipe down easily. The one issue is that a placemat is just one more thing for my kids to pick up and use as a vehicle for throwing the food around the room... but that's a problem with my kids, not the product.

These have been a big hit with my 4-year-old. The non-skid backing is nice touch, the mats do not move even with all of my son's squirming. The solar system mat is the early favorite. We use it to ask questions like, "Which planet is closest to the sun?" "Which planets start with the letter M?" I've noticed that he's gotten more interested in his space-themed books after studying the mat. The US map has been fun for him, discussing where various relatives live, where we'll go for vacation, etc. Although he can't remember the state names, he can point to the parts of the map when asked questions like, "Where was Mommy born?", thanks to the pictures for each state. Earlier reviews mentioned a misspelling of "Arctic", but I was pleased to see this has been resolved.

Anti-Skid Backing

These seem much thicker than the cartoon character placemats they are replacing in our home. I like the texture and weight of them, but I’m still adjusting to the antislide backing. We’re used to stacking and sliding them before and after meals and these definitely have some traction. Would probably be great on a slick table though. We love the educational opportunity these present; we had an amazing family discussion when they were first used. I’m happy with my purchase and would recommend these.

Awesome!!

I was really hesitant about ordering these. I had an older version of a laminated placemat (different company) that slid around and wasn't big enough. It caused more frustration than anything. We homeschool and have a hand built table in our kitchen. The size is perfect for both my kids, ages 6 and 10 yrs old. The materials on the Explorer sets work great for both ages as well. The mats don't slide around and wipe down easily. I definitely recommend
