I purchased this to complete a simpler on-shore charging system for my boat, the kit will work for any situation where you need to periodically charge or maintain 12volt batteries. This were needed to simplify charging my boat on shore. I was tired of crawling under the dash to attach alligator clips in order to charge the batteries. These ring terminals were perfect. They fit just right onto the battery posts, and the SAE connectors make it easy to connect either my solar panel or a land powered charger. The charging solution I am using this with includes two different charging sources, a Suaoki 60Watt solar and a Noco Genius G3500 Smart Charger. Both are great and provide a similar amount of power to the batteries. The solar charger does not work so well at night though, and the wall charger does not work when out camping on the boat. Suaoki 60Watt Solar http://amzn.to/2w1ylpK Noco Genius G3500 http://amzn.to/2gan697 Using the Suaoki solar charger requires the using of a solar charge controller for safety. The Suaoki can be directly connected to the battery, but then the voltage must be monitored as it can overcharge your batteries and lead to premature failure or worse. I am using the Instapark PWM charge controller for this task and it is a perfect match to the system. http://amzn.to/2xg7pAW The NOCO Genius uses properietary connectors and while it comes with a few different options, none of them made it compatible with my requirements. I ordered the NOCO to SAE adapter and now it connects to a standard SAE plug and works well, interchangably with the Solar charger. http://amzn.to/2wrOxl0 In order to add flexibility in placing the solar panel or connecting the NOCO charger, I added an SAE extension. Essentially this is a 12V extension cord. Any SAE to SAE cable will work provided it has sufficient gauge(AWG). For a 15ft length this should be at least 12AWG with 10AWG or even 8AWG being better. For a 5ft length 16AWG or 14AWG will be acceptable, of course 12,10 or 8 still better. Anything smaller less than those maxiums will degrade the charging capacity as it will cause an significant voltage drop. Here are a couple alternatives that look good. Kuncan 12ft SAE to SAE http://amzn.to/2iuIzdu Tetra-Teknica MotoBasic 10AWG 3 Feet, 2 per Pack http://amzn.to/2g7VT6S I used two ring terminal to SAE adapters, one for each battery, as the aligator clamps were problematic and not particularly reliable. The aligator clamps meant that I had to climb into the compartment where the batteries are stored in the boat and almost always insured a good bump on the head. Sometimes I would come back the next morning to find one had fallen off. Using ring terminals insures a secure connection to the battery and allows me to quickly connect/disconnect without bumping my head. I used the Tetra-Teknica MotoBasics 16 gauge 2 feet 10A fused 2 pack for my solution. http://amzn.to/2w89HlT In order to charge the two batteries in parallel, I needed to add an SAE Y adapter. The OptiMate Y-splitter worked nicely. I disconnect it when not charging as I do not want power accidentally pulled accross this connection if the boat is using a single battery. I am looking for a solution, a diode that will allow me to keep this connected permanently without that risk. http://amzn.to/2w1wjG0 The system is working well and keeping my batteries topped off between outings without a problem.

These Quick Connect units make recharging a battery so much easier. A much better solution than the alligator type clamps that are usually clipped to the battery terminals. The only recommendation I have is to include a set of 2 5/16"x1" bolts, 2 nuts, 4 flat washers and 2 lock washers so the quick connect can be affixed to the battery terminals immediately rather than having to run to the hardware store. I have 3 12V batteries all with the quick connect. They are all interchangeable with my emergency generator and my CPAP backup. Recently I purchased another quick connect that I modified so that my CPAP connection no longer uses alligator clips but a quick connect unit. it required cutting off the alligator clips from the CPAP Unit and the terminal ends on the quick connect. Making sure polarity was correct I spliced the two together, soldered them and taped them. My CPAP now has a quick connect rather than alligator clips, making switching to battery in a power failure at night a lot easier with no worry about connections popping off the battery. The quick connect has made me a very happy camper.

This product is made of excellent-quality wire with a molded juncture between the wire and the ring-connector which is completely waterproof and corrosion resistant. The outlet is protected by a fuse holder which comes with a quality fuse and has a waterproof cover that will also prevent moisture and corrosion. The plug itself is well-made and provides a secure connection with many accessories. The cover for the external plug is very sturdy and provides excellent protection from the elements. I would highly recommend this product for anyone wanting to install an external power source on their motorcycle, snowmobile or other vehicle.

I need to keep my boat's various 12V batteries charged over the winter, but didn't want to spend a fortune on individual charging systems for each one. While I have a trickle charger that can charge them all, I can still only charge one at a time. Disconnecting/reconnecting the charging leads to each battery in turn over the course of several months was getting to be a drag - these harnesses fixed all that. I installed one on each battery, so that I can simply unplug one battery and plug into the next one. I don't have to fool around with wing nuts any more. I recommend this product highly, for indoor use. I don't use it outdoors - I keep my batteries on a shelf in my basement.

I installed these on my 4 wheelers and snowmobiles so I can utilize a trickle charger. During the winter months I will not use the machinery very often and batterys are getting very expensive. Most 4 wheelers and snowmobile designs are like new cars in that there is very little room under the hood and battery is not easily accessible. By spending the time installing one of these pigtails it makes hooking the charger up a breeze. Pros: Heavy gauge wire with inline fuse. (Twice as heavy as others) Length of pigtail is perfect Cons Plastic fuse holder is very hard to expose fuse

I just bought a trickle charger for my RV, and it came with a charging pigtail that was NOT fused. Now I like to leave it unattended over the winter and having a fused pigtail for charging is a necessity. This charging pigtail HAS a fuse! And the package has TWO! So, I installed one on each of my batteries. Now I am set for spring when I get it back on the road.

Exactly what I needed: ring to SAE cable. Although (obviously in hindsight) both cables are identical. Thus, you can't correctly connect the two cables in this pack to each other through the SAE ends. SAE ends on this item are black=male, red=female. I had to by another item to get the mating SAE end with opposite male/female plugs.

I did not buy these for their intended purpose of charging an automotive battery, instead, I've used them to "mod" my kids Power-Wheel toy rides from 6V to 12V. Wire gauge is more than enough for the little motors, and it comes with the inline fuse box (although I had to "upsize" the fuse to 20A). I rewired the toy to be charged with th SAE connector and my 6V/12V automotive car battery charger with protection circuits instead of the included dump chargers: it is faster and safer for the battery, whether you choose to run them with 6V or 12V.

Good quality. Better than the Battery Tender and the Optimate cables I have used. The Batter Tenders insulator cracked in the cold weather. The Optimates eyelets are thin and weak. Couldn't beat the price for this pair of cables either.

Works great and much less expensive than BatteryMinder parts. Just wish they were 3ft long instead of 2ft so I could feed them through the vehicles' grills and not have to lift the hood to connect to the battery charger.
