If you don't have cable and can't stand commercials but this!!! You will need an external harddrive to connect to it but then it is going to record 1080 quality and you can watch it when you are ready and can speed through commercials. It does take a little bit to figure out how to use it but then it is easy going. You can't go wrong with this as it is only $40 and you can use a USB stick if you don't have a usb hard drive. Want to update this after having it for months. If you are using a USB drive us a USB 3.0 to get smooth recordings or a high speed usb hard drive. If you try using a cheap drive it will skip and stutter trying to record and playback. I did contract the manufacturer about a problem I was having and they were very quick to respond and offered a solution quickly and at no cost to me.

Record over the air programming

I love this product. I am able to record programs without paying for a DVR. This product records over the air programming. This is the second time I have purchased this product for myself and i have given one as a gift. I have recommended it to others who also love this product.

Good cheap OTA TV DVR, GREAT VALUE!

Good cheap OTA TV DVR. I cut the cord but with my work hours wanted to dvr local news, weather and the few network programs I like to watch like Last Man Standing (new moved to Fox and syndicated on CW network) plus some older series. Only short coming seems to be that if you watch while recording audio lags video a little. After recorded replay is ok. Maybe there could be a software upgrade to fix one day. NO FEE To DVR AND WATCH OTA LIKE Home Run brand equipment requires!

I'm a Broadcast Engineer - These receivers work great.

I'm a Broadcast Engineer. I build TV stations and production facilities. I bought 3 of these D-TV receivers to monitor a TV stations over the air signals at their transmitter building. I have each of the receivers tuned to one of the stations channels. They work great. Easy to set up and great picture. I really like these receivers for over the air TV reception.

This model records shows while the television is turned off & it's very tasty

This is by far the best antenna DVR that I have ever use compared to the other 15 DVR models I've tried in the past! The ONLY REASON why I paid for cable is because I need to have a DVR because of my work and I always miss the shows and DVR is the ONLY way that I can see the shows & have my television turned off. So I've heard DVR can record shows using an antenna & I cancelled my cable & bought my first DVR antenna & some of the models were okay and the only way that they can record the shows is it the TV is turned on and that doesn't help when I am at work and was expecting that I would be able to record shows with the TV turned off and EVERY DVR model that I purchased doesn't record when the tv is off. So..... I was asking people on Amazon for different DVRs and was asking everybody that has the DVR antenna & the question is ALWAYS THE SAME...." Does this DVR record shows while the television is turned off?" EVERY DVR model that I asked from other people & majority of the models to the same thing that I'm asking. Well.... I bought other DVR models when people said that the TV is turned off and does record..... NONE OF THISE DON'T WORK!!! This model.....WORKS PERFECTLY!!!! It records the shows that I want while the television is turned off & I have NO ISSUES AT ALL WITH THIS DVR! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Siginificant Picture Quality Improvement

The ViewTV model AT-300 Digital TV Converter Box significantly improved my 2009 Sony Bravia’s HDTV Over the Air tuner performance - no more intermittent audio breakup problems - and better picture quality on low and standard definition TV stations. ~ ' Excellent Customer Service ' ~ One word of caution: ‘Don’t attempt to update the firmware without first verifying with ViewTV Customer Service that the unit's firmware actually needs to be updated.’

Goodbye cable company!

Programming and set up was easy. Would have liked better instructions for the remote but overall it works as I expected it would. And it is much better than our old cable box and allowed us to cut the the cord to the cable company! I should mention we already had a 1byone amplified digital antenna but got this combo to have the spare antenna for the bedroom TV.

Four Stars….

I would have gave this four stars, but for the price, it deserves 5-Stars. It's easy to install, & it's been working great for the 1 month I've had it, but some procedures are a bit cumbersome, it may take a-while to get use-to its recording, playback, & other operational processes; & some procedures, like the deleting procedure for instance, aren't fully explained; hint-help: the "left-out" last step to delete a recording you've watched is to hit the "OK" button….

A terrific substitution for Cable at a one-time reasonable cost.

This was a replacement the of the first converter box we bought. It was on constantly as we do not have cable and a small inside antenna for local channels. It is used far more than the antennas..for years. Great pictures, huge number of both free and subscription channels. My son installed it in minutes. And very reasonable cost especially we add up what the monthly charge of the cable used to be.
