It is a lottery I guess...
I've already purchased black external floppy drive from here, and it works perfectly. I had to open it to see what's the exact drive model, and it was TEAC FD-05HG. No surprise it was working good. So I've decided to buy another one to get this particular slim floppy drive with a matching case to use it with my '90-s 8-bit computer. I chose the white color because it matches the computer case. But I was disappointed to find awful FUJITSU SS24DB floppy drive inside. I cannot use it with my old computer and it doesn't want to work properly with modern PCs nor Macs. It refuses to read 80% of floppies I have although previous one (TEAC FD-05GH in black case) doesn't have any problems. Both floppy drives seems to be pulled out of other systems because they show a lot of wear, but I'm really disappointed with the white one, because I cannot even return it now, and wouldn't be a problem if there was another TEAC drive inside instead of this terrible Fujitsu one. Update: changing my review to five stars due to immediate response from seller. I got a replacement drive instantly, and that one works extremely well. I don't know what the actual drive is inside (it has no markings), but I was able to reformat few diskettes that I thought were completely dead and unreadable by my first TEAC floppy drive. Thank you very much!

great floppy drive!
exactly what I was looking for, at a very good price. Works great -- needed for embroidery designs, had previously purchased from a different company and it quit after a short time. This one just hummmms along -- great!

It worked great the only time it has been used
Since I've only used this floppy drive once, I really can't give it a fair review. It worked great the only time it has been used. I already have a floppy drive that works fine and just ordered this one in case the other goes bad, as I've had one before to do. My embroidery machine runs on floppy discs so needed the floppy drive to save my designs to a jump drive so they won't get lost if the floppy discs get corrupted which happens a lot.

Here there be treasures
I bought this floppy reader so I could finally see what was buried on four floppy discs my wife's late grandfather unearthed for her. At first, when I bought another brand, I didn't think I'd be able to read them. The reader wasn't entirely compatible with my OS, and it wouldn't even register that a disc had been inserted. Bust. I put it out of my mind about a year. Or thought I had. A few weeks ago, the idea to check out the discs came back to me, and I was determined this time to find a reader that would actually work. After a bit of research, I found this little bugger. It showed up two days later and started right up as soon as I plugged it in. Needless to say, I was excited. When the driver was done installing, I stuck a disc in and not five seconds later I had an old floppy file open in front of me as if it were a flash drive. Awesome product. If you're looking for a floppy drive that delivers, get this one. As for me, it gave me access to a few gems from my wife's childhood I would not otherwise have been able to have.

Works with my Mac
Works perfectly as expected with my Mac with OS High Sierra. I found out some of my discs were unused and not even formatted--LOL! Also found out that my digital camera from 15 years ago was probably low megapixel, less than the 3.3mp that came next. Now I'm using a Canon SX160IS, 16mp. Excited about reading the manual and learning the ins and outs. I like the white color of this ESYNIC. Not sure why most choices are in black today.

Check it carefully when you get it.
EDIT 2: I received the replacement unit the seller sent me (gratis, after reaching out!). This unit works fine; I can confirm it reads and writes both 1.44 MB and 720 kB. It detects as a Teac mechanism, for those that care. Legacy users take note -- while this drive will read and write 720 kB disks, it will NOT format them. (This is a common issue with modern USB drives... unfortunately, you'll probably need a "real" one if you need that functionality.) 5-star product and 5-star service. Thanks! EDIT: Amazingly, the seller reached out to me and offered to send me a replacement no charge. That's never happened before on Amazon. I'm changing my review to 3 stars, and will further revise as necessary when the new unit comes in. OP: I read good things about this model drive. I have a USB floppy which works, but only reads/writes 1.44 MB disks. I have an older PC I'm trying to exchange 720k floppies with, and this drive advertises that compatibility. Unit was recognized by Windows when I plugged in the USB, but that's about all the good I can say. The drive would not read any floppy, including known-good ones tested in other drives. Wouldn't write a floppy either, so it wasn't just a case of mis-aligned heads. Now, it may be mine was damaged in shipping (it was fulfilled by Amazon; the package was loosely packed and had been jostled a lot), but the box it came in was not compromised in any way. Exchanged it for the Black unit, which has performed flawlessly.

Saved my old files!
I purchased another USB Floppy Drive on Amazon in an attempt to pull old files off my floppy disks. I was convinced that the data had all been erased/corrupted because it was never able to read any data off them. I decided to try the ESYNIC and lo and behold, the data was still there! It seems alot of these devices are pretty hit and miss, but for me this product worked and I was able to recover old photos I thought were long gone!

Great drive!
I purchased this drive because I have a large library of documents on 3.5", disks I want to transfer to CD's. I have Win 10 on my computer. I plugged the drive into the USB port and Windows recognized it immediately. I was able to start reading, transferring or deleting old documents without any problems. Great drive!

Time Saver
This product enabled me to transfer novels and short stories I wrote in the '90s from disks to my Mac. I didn't have to retype thousands of words! I love that it is a plug and play.

This was the 2nd external floppy drive I ordered. ...
This was the 2nd external floppy drive I ordered. This one worked without a problem and I was able to download my valuable files from the 3.5" disks to a USB flash drive without a problem. I am grateful I found one that would work with my laptop system, especially as I tend to be "technologically challenged"!
