Received my Nylon Braided iVanky Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter this morning. Looks and feels like a premium quality product. People complaining that it doesn't support audio, you need to go to system preferences>sound>then swap from your laptop/desktop inbuilt speakers to your tv's speakers, once you unplug the cable it will switch back to your inbuilt speakers. Also similarly for visuals, go to display in system preferences to switch between being mirrored or a second monitor. Unusual to have an unconditional Lifetime warranty in any product but speaks volumes for the confidence of the manufacturer iVanky. It is lighter than my previous adapter so I think it should last much longer with nylon braided. The resolution and colors all come out much better than my previous adapter. Definitely worth a buy.

While it's only been a few days since I received this adapter, I've been extremely impressed with it so far. I've owned / used one other Ivanky product before - their braided 3.5mm audio cord - and the quality on this adapter has really lived up to expectations. The weave on the cord is very attractive and seems to be durable, and I don't really have to worry about overly stressing the cord when I move it. The matte metal casing on both ports is very attractive and feels very sturdy, and the plastic sleeve / shield that protects the cord where it interfaces with the ports also looks like it would hold up to a lot of abuse and protect the wires at their contact points. As for function, I happen to have both a Mini DisplayPort / Thunderbolt port and an HDMI port on one of my computers, so I was able to test the adapter side-by-side with a direct HDMI connection. I personally wasn't able to discern any difference between the two, whether it be a loss of quality in picture or sound, or a delay between the source and the TV output. Playing videos both looked and sounded great through the adapter. If anything changes throughout the course of my use of the adapter, I'll be sure to update my review here, but so far, so good!

I have an HP Envy 34" monitor with a Surface Book and a MacBook Pro. I use the Sea Wit 4 Port 4K HDMI KVM to switch between the two computers. Since the KVM doesn't have a DisplayPort, I used this mini-display-to-HDMI adaptor. With this setup, the resolution decreased to 1920 x 1440 from 3400 x 1440. However, when the surface book is connected to the HP Monitor directly with a mini display port to display-port cable, the resolution is 3440 x 1440. I installed a current driver from HP to no avail. Could it be the adapter? Will mini display to HDMI alway be inferior to regular display port? Minutes after I wrote the review I went back to the specs and read that it doesn't support 4K. That needed a different adapter. OK then. I changed it 5 stars for a good looking adapter. :-) It works according to specs.

I found this adapter while looking for a way to connect my Mac to my TV without having to purchase the much more expensive iPhone-to-HDMI adapter (currently listed at $42 on Amazon.) If you, like me, want a cheaper solution and are willing to use your MacBook rather than your iPhone, this adapter is the right choice! I've used it for a little over a year and a half now, and I remain very pleased with it! Here are some highlights: *HIGH-QUALITY IMAGE: The images that this adapter brings from my computer to my TV screen are quality high-definition--it's hard to tell the difference between them and Blu-Ray. Occasionally the video takes a few moments to initially "catch up" when I first plug the adapter in, but after adjusting its quality is very high. *DURABILITY: As I mentioned above, I've used this cord for over a year and a half and haven't had any issues with it! Its high performance has continued despite the fact that, due to the way my HDMI cord and MacBook port line up, I have to twist the adapter cord to complete the connection. Even with this consistent twisting, the cord shows no signs of wear or tear--it looks like it will last quite a lot longer! *PRICE: As mentioned above, I found that this adapter performs the same functions that the more-expensive Apple adapter would. For the same service at the same quality, I can highly recommend that you go with this lower-priced option! All told, I'm really pleased with this adapter and would recommend it to anyone wanting to access their digital movie library (or other streaming services) on their TV. Enjoy!

My sister didnt want the touchbar-version Macbooks so I recommended she get the highest spec'd 2015 Macbook Pro with normal F keys and no touchbar (still the best option in my opinion, the touchbar is a gimmick). It still uses a minidisplay port over HDMI though, and she likes to hook up her laptop to her tv to watch things. This worked perfectly as expected. The nylon threading makes it feel really good quality and shouldnt be tearing or breaking anytime soon. She has had it for about a year now. As long as you have a long enough HDMI cable, this works just fine and is small enough to throw in her laptop bag for travel. 5/5 would recommend

I use it for work, so I’m not too worried about picture quality, however, I’ve not noticed any problems or visual issues on my presentations. I will say it works great and is really nicely built. The ends are made of metal (aluminum I’d think, but not sure) and the cable is braided. It’s got a good weight and sturdy feel that you don’t always find at this price point.

This is one of the best Mini DisplayPort/Thunderbolt to HDMI adapters I have ever used. Previously, I have tried other adapters around the same price but sometimes would have issues with the cable being a little finicky and would disconnect randomly. This one has worked great so far and haven't had any issues with disconnects even when I bend the cable a little to get it in a better position. The braided cable is an absolute god send and is braided extremely well. It also comes with a lifetime warranty which is superior to any other seller's warranty on their products. This adapter was pushing 1920 x 1080p perfectly fine at 60fps to my 50" LG 50UH5500 4K Smart TV and looked gorgeous. All in all I am extremely happy with the build quality, customer service, and the actual functionality of this adapter. You are getting way more than what you pay for and I would most definitely buy another if I needed to. From now on, this will be my adapter of choice and will not go back to the previous ones that I have used.

I wanted to give this cable adapter some time before I wrote about it. Bottom line is that I am very satisfied with it. The length of the adapter allows me to unplug from the TV and move to another one very easily. The video and audio transfer is great as well. I do sometimes have to reboot the computer when I plug it in. Originally I did it because I was fixing an issue with the TV not playing audio. I rebooted to give the computer a chance to run through its device drivers and start the services properly. Sure enough, the problem was fixed. I make it a habit to plug in the HDMI while the computer is powering up, just to avoid any frustration that might be avoided otherwise. The reason I don't knock anything off for the restart issue is simple... the whole restart thing is not their fault. You've connected your computer to a new device with its own sound and display drivers. the computer needs a reboot in order to properly use them. Not the cable's fault.

This product works really well for MacBooks before 2017. This is not a USB C adapter like the ones on the 2017 and 2018 MacBook so be aware of that before purchasing. It does say in the product description that it is for only MacBooks before 2017, but the title of the product can be misleading. The quality of this cable is really awesome for the price like it is very sturdy and thick so it is built to last. The display is just as it is on my laptop and I am very happy with this purchase. But do make sure you have the correct USB port.

I have an older mac mini with the thunderbolt v1...I had been using an apple DVI to HDMI adapter. I decided to switch to a larger monitor that used HDMI. HDMI to HDMI was OK but was a bit soft (made my eyes twitch). I decided to try connecting via thunderbolt v1. I needed a HDMI to Thunderbolt adapter and this one looked like it would fill the bill. I was very pleased with the improvement and the adapter's quality and simplicity. This adapter is performing flawlessly...no drivers were needed or hoops to jump thru. Very happy.
