Easy to use, well worth it.

Easy to use with a clear and pleasant display.
My older 2000 van needed some very expensive parts that were not essential but nonetheless caused the dash engine light to stay on. Now I at least can monitor other engine functions while the check engine light continues to be on. (Engine light reset only possible after proper repair is made of the offending function) Therefore problem solved. This device is easy to use and has a clear and pleasant display, which makes it more likely I will check the engine on a regular basis.

a handy device to have around and at a fraction of the cost of a mechanic!!!
i always wanted one of these, just for the heck of it. however, once i decided to get one, i found a plethora of various brands, models, etc. it was overwhelming. i decided my budget was under $45 and from there i came to this one. seemed simple enough, i was able to find the manufacturers website, download the manual before purchase. i bought this because my wife's car had the check engine light on. was able to connect this up, diagnose and get a code that told me the o2 sensor was bad. was easy enough to replace and when i replaced it, i was able to reset the system, no check engine light. great!!!! a handy device to have around and at a fraction of the cost of a mechanic!!! it works, verified by me, on 2012 hyundai sonata, 2009 nissan cube and a 2008 ford taurus.

Foxwells cheaper version
This is a cool little car gadget. I owned the more expensive foxwell unit and it lasted a few years so I know the name brand is trustworthy. I did not have the 90 dollars to spend on the more expensive unit this time so since it was a foxwell I went ahead and gave this smaller unit a shot. Almost the same functions as its sister unit, and it does clear codes. ATM my cats are clogging so it is setting off the o2 sensors which does not cause a issue other than wasting more gas. So until I can purchase the 500 dollar cat set up I will have to clear codes to save on gas. This unit works as well as its sister unit., its a life saver if you ask me. Finding out what is going on with ones car with out having to spend an arm and leg going to a mechanic is awesome. I do my own mechanics on car and having a foxwell code reader unit is a must to own.

Works great, simple to use
If you want to avoid expensive trips to the mechanic, get this. 9/10 your check engine light is a problem that can be ignored, or fixed yourself. Avoid an expensive trip to the mechanic - who will charge you $50-$100 for a "diagnostic check" (ie, using a like item to do the same check you can do in five minutes with this unit) and just do it yourself. Easy to use and good value compared to how much money you'll save.

Nice scanner for the money
Nice scanner/reset device for the money. This scanner is limited on what it can provide, but it certainly offers a lot for this price. First suggestion is immediately update the firmware when it arrives. This can be done by downloading software to your Windows PC, place the handheld in update mode and run the software. The display is quite nice and the menus are easy to navigate. It also offers code definitions so you don't have to look them up online and some sensor status information. This will help debug the problem much faster if you know what values you are looking for. It certainly will not give you all the parameter information, but the basics will help you decide where to start.

Good tool to have!
Foxnell Auto Scanner NT201 is a great tool to have. Pro: It does what it supposed to do which is read and reset any trouble codes. Provides comprehensive reading. Software upgrade is fairly good. I know a lot of reviews did indicate that some folks had issues updating the reader. Cons: Instructions manual is ok and I can agree to most reviews that it was hard follow but I had to read several times just to make sense of what they were talking about. Software updates is from China so Iâm a little weary given where itâs coming from but hey the tool has to update right. Overall the tool great for $35 dollar range with coupon.

Worked great, easy to use, affordable
After having all my dash lights blinking and the dealership not fixing it, I got this highly recommended scanner. It was easy to use and gave me two codes that I could take a picture of and send to the dealership for the next time I brought it in (it was a fix that was under an extended warranty). It gave me the assurance that I was part of the process and that I could follow up in an intelligent manner. Great scanner!

Awesome tool
Just what it says it is. I had a problem with one of the I/M monitors in my car not being ready so I couldn't get through my smog check. There was a similarly-priced code reader at my local auto store, but the guy in the shop said it wouldn't read I/M readiness. This scanner was even less expensive and it did just the job. I could run my car and check the readiness without having to keep going to the mechanic. When the scanner showed it was ok, with all green checks, I got it through the smog check. And it has a one-click button for checking the I/M monitors. Just ideal for what I wanted at a great price. And it arrived within a few days.

It graphs
For a reasonably priced scanner, this item has all the essential features I needed to check my car's running condition. Particularly the power coming from the OBD port, and the graphing of values like STFT and LTFT. Monitoring fuel trim is a window on efficiency and tuning setup. Isolating several PID's and DTC's can be complex and frustratingly time consuming. Scrolling the values makes the complexity easier to check changes as others change.
