Felt pads were one of those things that I thought was a commodity - one brand was pretty much the same as another. Putting them on chair legs means that you'll be replacing them every couple of months, so I've had a chance to try out many different brands over the years, including many from local big box stores. I've found, though, that there are some differences among brands. The Scotch felt pads seem to have a more effective adhesive than other felt pads, so that I don't have to replace them quite as often. For me this makes up for any issues with slightly higher cost than other brands. If you're getting felt pads for low-use settings, any brand should be fine. If you want a step up in quality, though, these are great.

These pads are a bit more expensive but boy do they stick! You learn quick not to put your finger on the sticky pad because it's hard to get off. I used them before on chairs I recently refurbished and I had to use a hammer and chisel to get them off after 5 years of wear, to put the new ones on!

My neighbor introduced himself by yelling at us that our door was too loud and it sounded like a bomb going off in his apartment. (Hyperbole much?). He’s a jerk. But I digress. I wanted something to soften the sound of the door closing. I googled options and these felt stickers were the most frequent suggestion. I purchased several and put 4 on the face of the door that connects with the door. I also put 4 on the interior of the jam. One near the top of the door, one near the bottom of the door and one on each side of the plate that the latch sticks thru. Now we are forced to pull the door closed. It doesn’t close on its own so the felt pads worked beautifully. They seemed expensive, but worth every penny for limiting contact with my crazy neighbor.

The instructions on this really helped! I knew I needed a clean surface but didn't think to use alcohol. Well, I didn't have rubbing alcohol but vodka worked just as well. The pads applied easily and have stayed in place protecting our floors.

**updated: August 2019 These have been on our metal chairs for 16 months now and none have needed replacement. **original post: June 2018 Bought these for our metal dining room chairs. I was worried they wouldn’t stick after reading some of the reviews. But they stick great. They have been on for 2 months now and we haven’t needed to replace any pads. I was sure to clean the bottom of the legs with alcohol before installing.

I have a small footstool with wooden legs that scraped on the wood floor. They didn’t scratch, but the sound was loud and annoying. It only took a minute to peel off four of these pads and stick them to the legs. Peace and quiet!

I first bought the felt pads from Menard’s (like a Home Depot) and they kept sliding off and leaving sticky stuff on my hardwood floors! I finally decided to buy these 3M ones and my god! What a difference - they’ve never come off the chairs since application! Once again, 3M makes the better product. I’m just going to trust 3M the 1st time round next time.

These are great for my kitchen chairs and stools. They are much better quality than the generic ones I purchased last time. I couldn't believe it, but those only last a month or so which is frustrated when you have to change 9 total pieces. These are much higher quality. Spend up now for longer usage and less headaches!

We started off just putting these on the bottom of a porcelain cookie jar to keep in from scraping the wood surface. After seeing how well they work, we start peeling and sticking until we ran out. Probably will need to buy more. Even replaced a thin 'foot' on an old radio.

Easy to install, works great on chairs, tables, anything with legs. I prefer Scotch Brand products, they engineer their products to be the best in their field, they often cost more but I have found the work beeter and last longer.
