Works perfectly if baited correctly
First, I tried peanut butter first and here is the problem with that. I used creamy peanut butter because that’s what we had. I filled the little barrel at the top of the trigger. The crafty little mouse ate all the peanut butter out of all 12 traps without one triggering. So I told my wife, I need something that is sticky so that the mouse has to work for the food and will trigger the trap. Well my wife came up with the perfect bait. A chewy chocolate chip granola bar!!!! Man she hit the nail on the head with that suggestion. So here is what I did, I broke of small pieces of the granola bar and stuffed that barrel at the top of the trigger as full as I could get it. I mean pack it in there. Then the mouse will have to work for it. Look at the pics to see the results. I had a perfect trigger that hit the mouse right across the head/neck area for an instant kill. Photos attached

Yea. Your great-grandma knew what she was doing
I bought some of the new ‘modern’ ‘high-tech’ ‘improved’ all plastic mouse traps in recent years, for _$10_ each! Sure those ‘new’ models are easier to ‘set’. You’re less likely to have one go off while setting it up. *But they’re also *ALOT* less sensitive than the old models: ergo you’re going to tend to find them untriggered & neatly licked clean by mice. *I’ve also found the plastic ones tend to break on the trigger plate. Pretty worthless $10 item, at that point. NONE of which applies to the old classics!: * They’re sensitive. Cuz the trigger is literally marginally hanging on the edge. Which means they’re fiddley to set up. It‘ll take some practice to get the hang of setting one. Take the time to figure it out before you bait it! * They’re tough as nails! Time-tested tech: Everyone’s found old ones still perfectly functional many decades after manufacture after many many mice. * They’re dirt cheap! I bought _12_ of these for $9! _$.75 CENTS APIECE! * unbelievably they’re STILL MADE IN THE USA in PA! w00t! * And best of all: THEY WORK! We threw out the crappy $10 plastic traps the mice had been cleaning off, and the night we got these , and got them set, we busted TWO of the cheeky little b**stards in the same spot in _THREE HOURS_! They may not be perfect, but they’re all I plan to use for mice moving forward. :D

My favorite trap
So these are the classic. They're cheap, they work, they're easier to set than the slightly newer ones from Victor with the fake yellow cheese instead of the metal trip/bait area. If have mice and you can't catch mice with these you're doing something wrong in terms of placement or something. They're not as easy to set as some of the newer all plastic models so you'll want to do it pretty carefully and keep your fingers well away from anyplace they could possibly get hit. Actually you should do that on any trap, but especially here.

Don't Mess With a Classic
Works better than any modern mouse trap. Just wedged a piece of a walnut into the"claw." There are no more mice in my house.

There's a reason why they have some billions of these mouse traps! They WORK!
I didn't want to get the wooden snap traps and clean the dead ones. I tried the 72 MB Maxcatch glue boards (2 escapes and no catches). Once you have some escapes, forget about it... the mice learn that peanut butter scented glue board mean death and they avoid them. And my wife and 3 daughters were getting more and more nervous. But it was time ! I needed to go old school + tweaks (from a youtube video). I ordered a 12 pack of victor mouse snap traps via same day delivery. Sorry Home Depot. Awesome! I woke up this morning to 4 traps with dead mice in them! The tweak: take off cotton from Qtips, threaded the cotton through the hole in the metal piece and put some peanut butter on! The idea is to have the mouse teeth get snagged a bit more on the cotton to make sure the snap trap works and they just don't steal the bait. Just search on youtube "mouse trap tips" the video channel is GardenFork One thing I did was microwave the peanut butter for 25 seconds to activate the protein for smell. I was worried that the peanut butter was going to be ignored, because of the escapes from the glue boards, but no! BAM! 4 kills! I did not tweak the sensitivity at all with pliers! (another tweak suggested by gardenfork) I am very happy with the results so far! first 24 hours and 4 dead mice. Don't mess with the glue boards and plastic traps. U need to go with the 100 year old , billion unit best seller! All of the reviews about these traps not working... I believe its user error, or not using the right bait.

Easy to arm and disarm. Effective kill.
Easy to arm and disarm. Effective kill. I got two pests on the first night. I had set up about 8 traps around the kitchen. I had my Nest cam on the area the whole night and the only two seen in the video were killed!

My enemy is an Animal
So my neighbor has this new thing with stuffing the local birds and squirrels with endless amounts of bird seed. That's cool and all, but the mouse population has taken note and set up an Air BNB in my adjacent detached garage loft space. The view stinks and the wi-fi signal is weak, but the all you can eat buffet next door keeps the clients happy and fat. The eviction notice was posted when one of these little Gus Gus looking stinkers packed his mattress with the fibers of my $200 hammock stored in the garage for the winter. Started with the green blocks. I assume they work, but little logs of evidence could still be found freshly deposited in the BNB living room. Plan B was these tried and true old fashion snap traps. Trap worked great dispatching the squatter the first full night the trap was left out to work its magic. The entree of choice this evening was a freshly wrapped white chocolate protein bar chunk carefully prepared with a side of gummy fruit snack. His Cinderella story is over!

The best weapon in times of war
First of all, anyone who is claiming that the bait gets stolen is literally less intelligent than the mouse taking the bait. These things are on a hair trigger. The best bait I have found is peanut butter Clif bars which I always keep around anyway because they are delicious. You just have to forcibly mush a little ball of it on the bait holder. But not too much because I had one where the weight of the bait kept tripping the trap; its really that sensitive. Be careful setting them. I am currently committing genocide against the mouse population with these things right now. Found one just this morning where the trap just barely caught the snout of the mouse and it was dead. I can not recommend this product more highly.

Watch the Snap
These little traps are the best made. I bought them (actually 24 of them) to use in my garage. The reason I bought so many, is I don't like taking the mice off the trap, so I just throw mouse and trap in the trash. They've got one heck of a snap; a few smashed fingers, and they were ready to go to work. I even caught a snake (don't know how it got in), but he was waiting at the garage door this morning, with a trap over his mouth. It didn't kill him, but what are you supposed to do with a 5 ft. snake on a little bitty trap? You take him outside by the tail (while screaming) and try to release him. Not sure if it was a garden snake or a copper head. So I put him in a box, until I went back inside to check how to identify snake. It said to look into their eyes. Now I don't know about you, but if you didn't have a snake in a trap, would you try to look into a snake eye; if the pupils are round (not poisonous) if they look like cat's eyes (poinsonous). So I went back out and picked the huge snake up again (by this time I swear it was 10 ft. long). ROUND eyes!! yes. I used my hubby's pliers and a long screwdriver and opened the trap up carefully. A lot of SCREAMING now!!!, and away he slithered towards the garage. I have a feeling I may be seeing him again soon. LOVE these TRAPS...get yourself some.

Just what we needed
Where I live has a 5 acre field behind my house and it's pretty rural. We had a big problem with mice and they started getting into our food pantry and no matter what amount of poison we set out they just kept coming. I don't think the poison was acting fast enough and I wanted to do something more humane so I purchased these and set them around the house with peanut butter. Almost every single day I get a killed mouse that you can clearly see was killed instantly which weighs less heavy on my mind as I wouldn't want anything to suffer but we had to get rid of them. These traps work amazingly well and they're all crafted very well for what they are. I highly recommend these as your first go to and skip the poison as poison is usually a long slow death and when you need effective quick kills this works great.
