This is a GREAT Balaclava for working outside!

I purchased this item for working outside on my Ranch in sub-zero winter conditions. I am very impressed with the design since it is shaped where your nose & chin will be and has a ventilated place where your mouth is. I have been reluctant to use a Balaclava due to my clostrophobia & “over-50-year-old-lady private summers” that quickly cause me to overheat. This item has been perfect on both counts! I went back and purchased one for each of my grown children and my son who works outside all day every day as a plumber gives it high praise as well - this week he was working in -10• temps and was very glad he had the Balaclava. It has an integrated head section that can be folded back or pulled up. Great solution for cold weather - you won’t be disappointed!

Great product keep my face and neck warm

Great product keep my face and neck warm. I'm extremely impressed with this product work as advertised. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to protect their face from outside elements.

Mask is comfortable.

The most is that it is very light and stretchy, I work outside all year around and when it's cold you need a face mask. Least favorite would be the mesh area could be a little bigger opening for the face/mouth. The only reason I say that is because I have a beard, other than that the mask is amazing and does the job and let's you still be very mobile. It is crucial for us people that work around heavy machinery/and trucks in my environment is daily so I have nothing bad to say about the mask.

Great protection and surprisingly comfortable and thin

I bought this less than a month ago. In that time, I have hiked for ~20 miles on trails to two 14,000+ ft peaks in Colorado in December. The picture provided is from the summit of Mt. Sherman, where the wind chill made the real feel about -35° F. This Balaclava works great. It cuts the wind, and kept me warm. If you notice, there is frost on the balaclava and icicles on my ski goggles, but that is just a fact of life in the cold. If you breath through something, there will be condensation...especially with exertion. I have also gone running in January in Colorado with this in temperatures as low as about 10° F (-12° C). It is versatile enough that I can start with full coverage and as I warm up, can change it up so I can stay comfortable. It doesn't prevent fog-up of eye protection in the cold when breathing through your mouth, but I don't know anything that will. I highly recommend this. It has exceeded my expectations.

It's like a toaster for your head

I picked up the black extra warmth fleece and the black air flow variants. The extra warmth fleece arrived first so I took it out jogging the next morning just to test it out. It was roughly 25 degrees Fahrenheit on a cold January morning in the northeast and it didn't bother me one bit. Within 3 minutes, my body heat turned it into a toaster. Roughly 5 minutes after that on my second mile, I was sweating so I had to take it off. I've yet to test out the black air flow but definitely DO NOT use the extra warmth if you plan on using it for jogging. Get the black air flow instead. Only use the extra warmth if you plan on being passive in the cold (e.g. social events, or skiing, or climbing Mt. Everest). One another reviewer said he was comfy in -30F temperatures and I believe him. The inside is fleece and you will melt like butter in the oven.... seriously, it's that good and the intended function. If you are more intolerant of the cold, then this might be for you. Normally I can stand the cold just fine but exposed skin does get a bit uncomfortable in the cold over time and I wanted to experiment with all these different variants. What I like about this mask is that it's adjustable - you can either cover your mouth and keep your head exposed, vice versa, or cover up everything. There's plenty of excess fabric so you can tuck it under your shirts. The fit is great - not too tight or loose. Breathing with the mouth and nose covered is manageable - not too hard but it's obviously easier to breathe with it not covering your chin. You might look like a bad guy but at least you'll be warm. It's a great purchase and I highly recommend it. I'm definitely going to hold onto it and use it if I ever have to go skiing in Antarctica during the night.

"Thank you so much for your "PERCHASE"? Seems like "Made in China" to me?

The product looks fine, but I like to know where my stuff is made, USA or Import doesn't cut it, be upfront and tell me where my product coming from, Ohio or China? Then in the nice note inside, Thank you so much for your "perchase", with purchase spelled wrong tells me that this didn't come from the USA nor did someone proofread their insert from their off-shore manufacturing partner before having it shipped out. Is the item up to specs then? We will find out. Then in the first sentence, it says, "I hope you will enjoy your purchase". Additionally, it states with a heartwarming picture, "me and my daughter Linda" (should be "my daughter and I") with a picture really need your help and need your help and a good product review. Feel like I am getting a con job here, but maybe I am totally wrong, but lots of cash went into the marketing on this listing above. O.K, we all make mistakes, I probably made three writing this review, and I am not returning for a misspelled word and I am giving 5 stars. My comments are for you to improve your product and marketing, be upfront where it is made because I am off China and some other labor camps, and get your "Thank you" note proofread.

It is -45 with the wind chill here and -30 actual. I ordered 3 pair with one day delivery as I am a procrastinator. I have one, gave one to my neighbor, and one to my daughters boyfriend. Just ordered 3 more for family. Night and day difference being outside in this hellish Minnesota weather. have not washed it yet as I am using it right away but I bet washing it first would be best. I have a big head and it fits great. My neighbor has a large beard and it seems to be fine. Makes a large difference in being outside. I am thinking that with goggles of any kind, you can jump a car, shovel, etc. Can actually breathe without choking.

Comfortable, breathable, and great form. Just what I wanted.

I purchased two Self Pro balaclavas prior to a winter sailing trip in the Pacific Northwest. I tried the two different versions, on two different, but similarly cold days. This was a really comfortable balaclava. I had a read a few reviews that favorably mentioned Self Pro so I decided to try it out and I'm glad I did. Overall, the entire thing is really comfortable and easy to wear. It doesn't have a bunch of excess material that gets bunched up and fits the shape of the head well. A really good ninja mask! My other purchase had an integrated structure built in to it, but this one was the same material throughout. I actually liked this one more. It was really easy to wear, and I didn't feel like I had any issues breathing through it. While out on the sailboat the air was cold while the wind was blowing but while wearing this, my face never got cold, and it worked really well against the wind. I'd definitely buy another one of these if I felt like I needed to, but this one works so well I'm not sure I'll need any more balaclavas!
