I have been using pur water filters for over 7 years and have learned a lot of mistakes along the way. First thing is soak the filter for a good 20 min or you might end up with a clogged filter. As long as I soak it good for 20 min and rinse it for one min I don’t experience and clogged. It filters my water well and the water tastes great. So if you experience clogged filter or water tastes is bad, it means you didn’t soak your filter long enough. I will continue to use it because it cleans my family drinking water very well. I highly recommend this filter 😊

I've been using the Pur 18-cup pitcher for 10 years. I'm a medical student and have had apartments for almost that whole time, and so I needed a safe and effective water filter on the go. These lead ones work just as well as the regular pitcher filters, and I've been using the lead ones for a few years now. I can't tell you how much sense water filters make. Whether you're using a water filter or the tap directly (both are safe and clean), you are saving yourself and our Earth a world of waste and money. I have never had a bad filter from Pur, and my pitcher is still in good shape. Considering how cheap they are, when you calculate the money, this product is an excellent deal. Pur is partnered up with Terracycle, which means you can recycle the filters when you're done. They have a free program (check the packaging and company's websites), but I switched over to the Terracycle Zero Waste Box (Plastic, specifically) a while back to make things easier. I highly recommend this product, brand, and concept.

Was hesitant based on some of the other reviews related to slow filtering. My original Pur filter was very slow, and I was afraid this one would be even slower with the lead reduction feature, but was delighted that it ended up working faster than my original one! I did soak the filter for a full day based on the recommendation of other reviewers; not sure if it helped or not, but it has been working well for months now.

*EDIT*- By the 13th fill, the wait for filtering is 53 mins and the last 1/4" will not pass through. I count the # of fills to compare w/ filter reminder and mind the flow rate. Twice I've followed the instructions to help slow filtering with no discernible effect. It is important to note my H20 source is well water and it has a greater sediment content than most municipal provided H20. I don't know how much this is affecting filter functionality. *END EDIT* So far, I am delighted to switch to the Pūr Lead Reduction filter!! The taste and mouthfeel is a HUGE change from the tap & the previous filter. I used a Brita pitcher system for 10 years on decent city water- until January 2020. In Jan I moved to a small apt complex that provides, monitors & treats their own WELL WATER. 😟 This h20 is always a bit dingy w/ sand particulates & is sometimes the color of beer. Plus I live 6/10 of a mile from a military training base. (50+ years of lead rounds leeching into the ground & water) After reading a recent h20 quality report for the area it was clear I NEEEEED lead filtration. The Brita Longlast filter reviews inspired ZERO confidence. Eight hrs of pitcher filter research later- I confidently chose Pūr. This particular Pūr filter takes roughly 20 minutes to filter 10 cups and I am totally cool with it bc there is a distinct improvement in the water quality. I just hope it doesn't get much slower!

First, let me state that I bought these filters almost one year ago, prior to Covid-19 and the price gouging that is happening for lots of products these days on Amazon... So my review will correspond to the "normal" experience. I was born in France in the last century and I grew up drinking faucet water and once in a while, mineral water coming from specific sources. Then came the regular plastic bottle filtered water from the faucet (like Dasani) which I have always considered as a rip-off and unnecessary pollution. Then I came to the US and understood why... Most of the tap water is disgusting in taste. I remember a taste of mud which made me very reluctant to keep on drinking it straight from the tap. Then I started buying 3 gallons containers that I would put in my fridge but it was cumbersome and it took a lot of space in my fridge. Only then did I decided to buy a PUR faucet filter and a PUR water carafe and filter. A simple before vs after taste comparison was enough for me to make me stay with PUR. The taste went from not very good (in Atlanta) to perfectly fine. If we look at the standard pricing versus the use, I found that one filter is expected to last about 3 months. If I base myself on the red warning light, it lasts actually 4 month for me, resulting in a price of about 2.5$ per month for the equivalent of Dasani water without the waste of plastic. I think it is a great deal. Now, this version is new and added another level of high filtration: Lead. I think it is very useful when reading the stories about the lead contamination in the water plumbing of Flint Michigan. In conclusion: Highly recommended as long as the price per unit does not go over $10. If it does it means that the seller is practicing price gouging. 5 stars

I was searching for replacement filters for my older Brita pitcher. I was confused as to what to buy because there were not any authentic Brita filters that looked like the ones I had been using. I looked in stores and on Amazon. Plus, the name brand ones are expensive, in my opinion. My son had given me his PUR water dispenser. I thought it was too large to keep in the refrigerator all of the time, so I had it in a pile of stuff to take to second hand place. While searching the Brita filters, I saw the PUR filter that fits that dispenser and it was considerably less expensive. PLUS, it said it filtered out lead. I decided to give it a try. The water, filtered through this PUR has a much better taste. It is easy peasy to install and deal with. Plus, after having used this large dispenser for a while, I realize that I drink much more water. While I do not live in Flint or Newark, I know enough about our infrastructure and plumbing faucets to know that there is a likelihood of lead being present in my potable water supply. It is reassuring to know that I am doing something about it.

This filter leaves me with great tasting water! It last even longer than the recommended time and I say that with caution because we have a water pitcher that indicates to us when It needs to be changed and I literally changed It 7 months after use and It was still on green. I thought it would be good to change It so I did. Even up to that day the water was still tasting fresh. Every water pitcher is different so following the guidelines may be more critical than others

I had initially written a negative review of this item, but I have since done some research, and changed my mind. I know some ppl complain about poor quality packaging, but actually its the same packaging in the store. Which leads me to believe that they are not fake. They are slower that how I remember PUR maxion filters to work. But actually, the white top on them indicates they are a new kind, that also removes a lot of lead! This is great! Who wants lead in their water? Now, this is an innovation in the maxion system, I believe. And when you look at the competition in the lead filtering market, these are very well priced. So, that's my current assessment of this product, at least! Well done, Pur!

You really do notice the difference with these filters. The water doesn't have any taste to it but it is fresh when you pour it from the filter. So they get high marks for giving us fresh water. Easy to set up but it's a shame about the waste in these products. We are throwing away a fair bit of plastic with these. But main criticism is they never really seem to last all that long. We buy these in a pack of three and we really do get a lot of use out of it but it hardly feels like we've had it long before the light is flashing orange

I have depended on Pur water-pitcher filters for 20+ years and still think they are the best. Shopping on Amazon for my next order, I came across reviewers who questioned occasional stray water-droplets in their sealed foil filter packages, thinking something was wrong with the filters. I very recently spoke with a terrific Pur company rep on another matter and inquired about the droplets of concern (tho I have never experienced any). The filters which may have a few stray droplets in their packaging are FINE. As we all know, once absorbent-material gets too dried-out it ceases to absorb for quite some time, or in some cases, forever. In order to keep the filtering material damp until opened and used, the filters are steamed using very hot steam just before they are placed into foil wrap and sealed. On occasion a box may be stored - at home, during delivery or in-store in temperatures which facilitate condensation to occur in-package: hence a few droplets may form - nothing to be concerned about. On another issue, I was sent Pur's lead-filtering pitcher filters, whether by Amazon or mine: I had always used their regular (all blue) filters. Curious, I called Pur and discovered the blue filter with clear cap (lead-filtering ones) filter *all* the contaminants the all-blue ones do along with lead, *in addition*. I live in an area which has always had excellent water, but these days - with the instability of climate-change, the wacky present DC Administration and situations like Flint and Newark, things can change without warning. So, for just a very few dollars more (on Amazon) I opted for the lead-filtering ones - and will continue to do so in future. A very low-cost insurance policy IMO.
