Great but a little slow compaired to others
For a person who is blind this is a great investment, yes it is a little slower than others on the market, but take a look at what it can do. It does work well with Open book and Kurzweil, and it has built-in featchurs for on its own you can make an OCRed PDF document or just an OCRed document of any sort as long as it is Microsoft compatable. The design for being able to scan thicker books is a plus, for the last scanner I had I had to take the lid off, or risk breaking the henges. Not sure about the other styles but the 2610 does not have a manual locking featcher for the optics, they lock down when the power is off to the unit, nice for plug-and-go and great if your a college student. I will buy another one for a backup just in case.

Simple, low-cost flat-bed scanner for Windows 10
I've been using a Visioneer 5800 for years. Though it is not officially supported by Windows 10 I found a work-around. After the latest WIn10 update it stopped working again. I wanted a simple flat-bed scanner that will work with Win10. I didn't see what I wanted at Visioneer so I checked around and this came up. At under $50 with free delivery I went for it. It makes very good scans. It works with Paperport so I can scan into Paperport and clean up the scan if necessary. Unit is very light and uses USB power so no power supply is needed. I was skeptical about this but it works well. Before the unit arrived I got my faithful Visioneer working again so I compared scans and they are similar. They both have brightness, contrast, and gamma settings so you can get what you want. I have not tried the OCR function. Bottom line is that for personal use if you don't need a feeder this is a very good scanner. And it definitely works with Windows 10, which seems to be an issue with many scanners.

excellent scanner for price
Mac driver must be downloaded at plustek website.l (comes with only a Windows driver on CD) PDFs sent to folder called MacAction where they can be renamed. Setting changes require an OK click. For the money it is definitely a 5 star. Customer service gives a very fast response. OCR (optical character recognition) setting slows things down so don't use if not needed. . Definitely a good buy for the money.

Works Well and Easy to Install
This thin scanner takes up little space and installed quickly on the first pass. I run Windows 7 and it recognized the driver right away. To be honest, this was the fastest and least complicated installation I have ever had for a new piece of hardware. I would recommend this to a friend in a heartbeat, and already have.

It is great product
This scanner is worth the price and it is the best option at this price point. I find it’s easy to setup and easy to use. After the quick installation, just plug it in, launch the program and scan everything! I like that it is USB powered so there is no need to connect the AC Adapter to the wall wart. I install the software driver on my Windows desktop and Mac laptop; it works well on both operation systems. It’s user-friendly to calibrate the scanner without the calibration sheet. I am very happy with the good and clear scan quality.

I love this scanner
I love this scanner. It is thin and lightweight and barely takes up any space. Yet, it behaves beautifully like the bigger units. I don't have to have my receipts and documents put onto a USB so I can transfer them to my computer. I even tested it's clarity by scanning a detailed road map and it came out perfect. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a way to transfer information from paper and/or books to their computer. It truly performs the way it claims to . Thank you, Plustek.

It works, but be careful
So 100% love this thing. It's simple, easy to use, easy to set up... however I dont have a disk reader so I had to download drivers from the website, was no big deal just letting you know in case that's a worry. Yes it worked. The only complaint I probably have is it does take a really long time to process the images and save them. Somewhere like 10-20 minutes on the specific settings I chose. HOWEVER I was choosing the very highest quality settings. I don't nor ever had another scanner to compare this time to so that might not actually be very unusual, it may even be quick. If you have like quite a lot of things to copy and aren't worried about photo quality I would suggest using other settings than the highest. I specifically got this for copying very old, tattered, small photos in the best quality possible because they will someday fade away forever. This was able to capture them perfectly. One more thing. There is a sticker that says don't remove or it will void the warranty. The plugin port is NOT behind this sticker. I assumed it was because I couldnt find where to plug it in... so I began to pull the sticker off begrudgingly thinking they were just really rude, like how do I plug it in without breaking the warranty and who would put a sticker there??? Turns out I'm just dumb. It plugs into the front of the machine, like front/ side and it kind of dips in a bit so you can't really see it right away. Which is odd, but makes more sense than being behind the sticker I guess. Just so you know I only halfway got the sticker off and didn't totally open the thing so I really didn't void the warranty, but maybe I did. I don't know. Just don't repeat my mistake ok. lol.

Fantastic little scanner
This is a wonderful little scanner that replaced my huge printer/scanner/copier. Once you get the knack of using the software interface (which, strictly speaking, you can ignore), it's literally one button and 15 seconds to scan in a doc. While some reviewers have complained about the speed, that is only an issue for the highest-resolution scans. At a standard 300 dpi for document (e.g., PDF) scanning it's faster than my old scanner. And I love that it doesn't need an external power source. A great bargain for the price if you don't absolutely need a document feeder.

Very User Friendly
This is a completely plug and play scanner. I have used all of the settings and had no problems what so ever with image quality. I highly recommend this scanner. It is a great value at this price point.
