The camera gimbal on my drone goes through an initialization sequence every time I start up with a new battery. This pad keeps the camera lens out of the grass when the camera is going through it's start up motions. When I land, I don't mind if my camera is facing down, as it's the landing pad it will come into contact with, not a slug, snail, rock, or blade of grass that is full of dew. 2 colors is nice and I can vary my experience by a choice of color (not that I really care either way...). Anyway, I use this every time I fly now. Having the stakes to stake it down is a plus as I have flown on a windy day and I had things to do other than to chase my pad down. The pouch for it makes it convenient to carry around - no big surface to catch the wind, small enough to clip onto my drone case.

So if you're like me who loves droning and goes to distance to get to remote areas this landing pad is for you. It's portable, folds up easily (once you practice) and lets your drone land safely in a variety of flat settings. I can set it on top of flat ground, on grass on sand and it does a good job of protecting my drone's props from hitting grass or objects nearby, or kicking up dirt/dust when landing or take off. When i first bought my drone, i thought i wouldn't need this product as i said to myself, i'm going to land/take off on flat ground anyways, but after my first set of flights in either parks or the beach, i noticed a few things that would happen. On grass, when landing or take off i would technically be cutting the grass and ruining my props. On grave or at the beach, my drone would kick up dirt, or sand. I knew i would eventually damage my drone, since i paid good money for both my DJI Spark and Mavic 2 Zoom. This pad makes it safer for you to land on those surfaces and creates an area that is fairly easy to see if you're in the air trying to land. Prior to this, i would find either park tables/benches or concrete areas to land/takeoff. Also when your drone is in the air you could sit on the landing pad instead of the ground (My wife would get upset if i ruined clothes unnecessarily). This landing pad is lightweight and now part of my "essentials" whenever i take my drone(s) out. Pros: Two bright colors, you can flip it for either Blue or Orange surfaces Small enough that i can fit it in my drone case or in a compartment in my backpack. Doubles as a mat for me to sit on. Made of good sturdy materials Cons: None really. If i was nit picky, maybe making it easier to fold, but you get used it after a few tries and can be stowed away easily and quickly. Overall, i would recommend this landing pad to anyone who has a drone and is serious about protecting their investment.

I originally did not think it was necessary and did not start out with one of these but after encountering several "dusty", "wet", and/or relatively "long grass" flying fields/locations and also realizing how much dust/grass can get kicked up and onto/into my drone I bit the bullet and purchased one. Very much glad I did. It works great for keeping the dust and grass "off of" and "out of" the drone. It comes in a nice compact carry pouch. I just snap the carry pouch to my backpack or toss it inside and off I go. You will have to learn how to collapse the Pad to reinsert it into the carry pouch. It takes some "commitment" to twist it back to the small shape especially if you have not previously used a collapse-able like this. Once you have done it a few times it will become very easy. Luckily for me I have an even "larger photography reflector" that folds down the same way so I have had plenty of practice. Most people give up trying to collapse the pad just as they are getting to the point where it is needs to be. I recommend just Googling "how to collapse a drone landing pad" (or some similar wording) and there are many videos out there that will actually demonstrate the "how to". I have not used the included reflectors but if I ever do night flying I guess they will come in handy to add to the landing pad. Safe and Happy landings!

I use this with the Mavic Pro Drone, which when lifting off it takes an internal picture or something to help it return to the exact point it lifted off from. Normally I used to take off from pavement and although it returned home pretty well, as it was landing it would hesitate more than usual trying to find the exact point it left from and would finally land but would be usually several feet away from where it actually took off from. With this landing pad though, I have noticed it lands a lot faster and will land within a couple of inches from the center of the pad where it lifted off from. Landing pad is very durable and comes in a nice zippered case, which is good because it is so stiff and durable it is hard to fold back up to put back in the bag. I have never used the stakes that come with it to keep it in place, even on windy days I have not had it move from where I laid it down. If the wind is blowing hard enough to blow this off the ground where you put it, you shouldn't be flying the drone anyway.

There are so many reasons to buy a portable landing pad for your drone. I'm not going to go into more than a couple here, just so you know why you need one. First off, there's a lot of stuff that you don't want to get into your drone air intake or props: dirt, dust, debris, grass, leaves, you name it. Not everyone has the luxury of a clean take-off space, and sometimes, where you need to take off is the only option around. Second, the downward facing cameras on modern drones will take pictures of the take-off point when it first ascends. If you want an accurate landing area, having a high-contrast pad is essential. Sometimes, certain patterns (grass, large low-contrast areas like pavement, parking lots, fields) can confuse these sensors, and throw off the RTH (return-to-home) landing point. If you're flying near water, do you really want your drone to accidentally land in the water? Probably not. This pad provides a little extra insurance, because the RTH is linked to the bright, high-contrast image of the pad itself and the "Circle-H" rather than a potentially-questionable surface otherwise. It also provides some leveling if it's a rocky or bumpy terrain. The underside of most drones these days have a whole assortment of sensitive instrumentation, not to mention props and motors that require a level surface for take-off, and a gimbal that requires space for its pre-flight range-of-motion checks. So that's the "why" of it. But why should you buy this one? Well, it's portable. I own a lot of photographic light reflectors of various sizes, and have used them for years. I've bought really expensive ones and really cheap ones. They usually get the job done. This is absolutely worth every penny quality-wise. They don't have to have a "reflector cover" because it's not a reflector, but it is reversible (orange on one side, blue on the other), and comes with the same style nylon case. ** Be careful opening the nylon case if this is your first time opening a pop-open reflector! ** I am fairly certain the first time I opened my first reflector years ago, the edge hit me in the face. Funny, yes, but please, avoid the carnage and mayhem. Take it carefully out, realizing that it will immediately unfold to three times the size in a split second. POP! And that's the beauty of this take-off/landing pad: with a simple twist of your wrists, this folds back down into a very portable size, easy to throw in your bag, or the trunk of your car, but don't let the size of the packaging detract you: it's a very large pad. In the pictures, they used a larger drone, and it somehow makes the pad look smaller in my eyes. IT'S NOT. I own a Mavic Air, and it takes up a small fraction of the pad. Depending on the size of your SUAV, YMMV. For surfaces like grass and dirt, there are three securing points around the pad, and the kit came with a trio of small, sturdy "tent peg" style pegs. You'll want to secure the pad in most cases, just because all copters produce wind when taking off, hovering and landing - it's just what they do. So overall, I am very happy with this product, and in my testing, I'm very happy with having a large, high-contrast target for take-off, RTH visual location recording, and landing. Also, as an aside, if you're new to the hobby or a professional, it never hurts to practice your manual take-offs and landings. The new AI in these aircraft are awesome, but when something goes wrong - like a strong wind, or weird automated-guidance issues - sometimes you just need to take full manual control to safely fly back home and land. This pad provides a perfect "target" for practicing your landings. See if you can quickly center the craft and land in the center circle (or if your aircraft is larger, in the outer black ring). So, would I buy this again? Absolutely. I think you could even own one of these for a portable pad, and keep another one secured to a landing area like they have "heliports" on the top of buildings, if you have a class you're teaching, or you want a safe place for take-offs and landings at home. I think a lot of flying is psychology - being mentally and physically prepared before, during and after the flight. Having a bright, high-contrast reminder of the responsibility is a great mental anchor to put you in the right frame of mind, keeping safety in the forefront of your awareness before you press the take-off button. Hope this helps!

I love this landing pad. At first glance, it might seem like such a minor accessory, but looks can be deceiving. The landing pad is durable and seems to be well constructed. It can be set up in seconds, and is very easy to take down. The pad has protected my drone, gimbal and camera from sand, dust, dirt, and ground moister. Even flying from low cut grass, I don’t have to worrry about the drone weed-walking. Knicks on the propellers can lead to in-air catastrophic failure. Camera gimbals can be very sensitive do dust or moisture and very expensive to replace. This is a cheap way to take good care of your “investment”.

What's not to like? If you are a photographer you probably already have a few of these but don't want to paint a big "H" on your white reflector. I am used to folding and unfolding photo reflectors but this one seems to have a pretty stiff lip. Almost took my nose off when it decided to unfold in the middle of a folding attempt. For those not sure how to fold, hold it in front of you with your hands at 3 and 9 oclock. rotate one way with one wrist and the other way with the other wrist as if you were wringing out a small towel. ( watch your nose in case it gets away from you... ) Do this a few times and you will be a pro.

Well made and tight as a drum. Great for keeping my Mavic Pro Platinum out of the grass and dirt. Also been sharing with a Phantom 4 pilot. The storage pouch keeps it in folded position and fits my flight bag. If you use the included plastic tent stakes make sure they are flush with the top of the pad or the Mavics props can hit them, without landing gear extensions. May get some wire stakes or not use them if it's not windy. Gives the Mavic a good Home Point reference for precision landing. And keeps people from standing where you're gonna be landing.

I bought this because I own a drone filming company and we fly about 30 drones of every shape and size. After using this one time just to keep a DJI Mavic pro platinum props out of the grass I found that when using the RTH feature, for some reason this orange side up makes the drone land literally pinpoint on the H. Every time. Also it folds into a small circle by twisting the outer edges and comes with a carry case that hold the stakes. I highly recommend this. Keeps my gimbals out of the grass!

Works like a charm. I put rocks on the 3 tabs so it doesn't blow away if the landing Pad is on a hard surface. I personally think it will help with Return to home accuracy. It's a little silly, but I really like it, makes it more fun trying to land perfectly inside the inner circle. Isn't it all about the fun? Why not. Glad I got it. Also, what's the deal with people taking off with their Mavic Pro directly from the sand on the beach? And landing directly on the sand? Seen it in LOTS of videos. These devices are delicate electronics... Wouldn't you put a blanket down before putting your laptop on the sand? At least the landing pad would add a small bit of protection compared to straight on the sand... Just sayin'.
