This was one of his favorite presents he got at Christmas
I bought this for my 7 year old son for Christmas. he loves it! It is bright and very impressive with "lightning" everywhere when no one is touching it. This was one of his favorite presents he got at Christmas!

Pretty Neat Lamp--careful it is fragile
I have purchased two of these for my 11 year old son because he broke the first one as it fell off of his bed. He loves it. Pretty neat lamp and definitely a conversation starter. My only advice is that it is pretty fragile, parents may want to keep in the box unless in use, as my son broke his second one (it tipped over on his dresser and he is a conscientious kid) I felt bad for him as I won't buy another. Large and beautiful lamp though.

Lots of Fun
This was quite impressive. Rarely do products like up to their descriptions, but this does. My son bought it after seeing something similar at a museum. He brought it in to school to share with his class, and it made it to school and then home on the bus, so it seems pretty sturdy. We pull the shades over his window when he plays it during the day, because otherwise you can't see it as well, but it really is fun.

Best Buy for the money unquestionably works great
If you're into science or have a child who is in the science or are just a toy geek like me at age 50I still love a cool Tory and you can't beat this one for the price it's not the to visible during the day but at night or when you turn the lights out it is spectacular it can either be used as you touch it and/or it will randomly go or you can set it to thump to the beat of music which is also kind of cool adding a new element to either your child's house or the like I said if you're an older party or why not you can't beat the price it definitely looks great right next to my lava lamp and in between my glowing alien head it fits in perfectly I would highly recommend it there's no set up in volves and it takes almost no energy to use

Very lightweight, lacks rubber feet or padding. Awesome effects!
Absolutely spectacular gift for any boy or girl or even adult who is fascinated with science and electricity. The ball is amazing! My son saw this at a field trip he had and mentioned it to me. So I knew exactly what he was talking about and I gave it to him as a gift. Unfortunately, my 5 year old daughter was transferring it to another table. She didn't drop it, but her body swiped it and it fell off the table and shattered... Glass everywhere! If it had decent rubber no-slip pads /feet underneath, this would not have happened since she slightly brushed against it with her tiny body. The other thing I wasn't happy with was that the plasma ball would not 'dance' to music. Didn't matter how loud and how many beats, it didn't respond. In that mode, it only responded to someone facing at it with their mouth and yelling. Each yell would cause it to activate for a short burst. That is why I am giving it 4 stars. I accept responsibility and hold myself accountable. But such a lightweight fragile glass device with no sturdy rubber feet to prevent it from sliding? A shame.

works very good however when I turn it on the balls doesn't look anything like the one in the picture but I still love it just the same. It's made well and my relatives like it too. If you drop it on the floor even carpeted areas it still with break and you should never try to fix it. I would suggest giving it to the trash can because the electricity will fry everything it touches. I like the aspect that if you make a loud enough noise that the plasma balls with flicker with the noise which saves my time and money (saves money in the utility bill.) I will definitely buy another one in the future if the situation calls for it.

this one works pretty good & is reasonably priced...
lots of mixed reviews on these plasma balls. however, this one works great & my son loves it! little known fact, if you balance a coin on top of the ball then hold your finger a few millimeters above the coin, the sparks will actually get conducted through the glass, into the metal, & jump to your finger. careful though, it will result in a black spot on your finger & the smell of burnt skin. probably not an authorized use of this product, but i discovered this decades ago when these things first came out.

Works well and reasonably price.
My Grandaughter Saw this while we were at the academy of science in San Francisco. She was fascinated by it and asked if she could have this for her Birthday present. Thank goodness I searched for this on Amazon while we were in the academies shop and found it at a significant savings.

nice addition to your space
I've loved plasma balls since the first time I saw one when I was a kid so I knew I wanted one for my living room. It's funny how my friends react when they see it. "oh, look, I've always loved those" and begin to touch it. It's a nice touch for any house and certainly brings many memories from childhood. It's big enough to be seen, yet it doesn't take up much space. I turn it up every time my friends are coming and they're all always delighted with it. It's not a toy though, so beware with children since it's glass and they could break it and hurt themselves.
