We really appreciated this LG a/c this past summer. It performed perfectly, having replaced an older model of an L/G a/c that had lesser BTUs and had seen better days. These air conditioners have been mounted in the living room wall of our approximately 800 sq ft 2-bedroom cathedral-ceiling cottage home and have single-handedly comfortably cooled it throughout the hot & humid Michigan summers. Appreciate all of its features, especially the energy-saving ones and the alert to clean the filter!

Very cold, a little bit noisy, but what I expected. Installation was easy. Overall, I like it.

This air conditioner has done a surprisingly good job of keeping our house cool so far during the summer. The installation was no problem and this unit has a convenient slide in mechanism. I did not use the extendable sides it came with as it would not have fit in my window (24" across) otherwise. Once, it randomly stopped blowing air, the compressor would run, but the fan would not. After taking the unit apart, I found a piece of foam lodged in the exterior fan housing, preventing it from turning. Once removed, normal operation returned. Be sure to follow the directions in the manual to remove any foam packaging it recommends, apparently I missed one and almost made me want to trash the unit entirely.

Thank you, author, for leaving the comment about the difficulties in installation. Using that knowledge, we did everything right.

Hands down, LG makes high quality window air conditioners. I needed to replace an older model of this same air conditioner. I purchased a fridgidaire with similar specs because it was a few dollars cheaper, and it was terrible. The fridgidaire was noisy and made with lots Styrofoam. I Sent the fridgidaire back and got the one I should of in the first place. Couldn't be happier. Runs cold and very quiet. No Styrofoam air channels, copper lines and coils. The way it should be. It's a larger unit than most, however, so be sure to measure your window!

Our bedroom was always hot even though the rest of our house would be downright chilly. I think the vent is just too small for the size and facing. We tried everything - heat reflecting window treatments, fans, different types of sheets - nothing worked. Finally I broke down and bought this window unit. I did quite a bit of research before selecting this model and I've been super happy with it. LG is still a good brand, unlike others which have suffered a decline in quality control lately. It was pretty easy to install. I did it myself in about an hour and a half. The worst part of lifting the unit into the frame. It's HEAVY - about 60+ pounds to dead lift to chest height, so be careful. As for the unit itself, it does make some noise ( ALL A/C units do) but we've actually found it to be more of a benefit than a distraction. It's a great white noise and drowns out some of the more annoying night time sounds - crickets, cars, tinnitus - that sort of thing. I wouldn't call it loud by any means. Main thing is that we've run this thing every night (on constantly) from about 8 PM to 6 AM and it will keep it a pleasant 68 degrees. I even put the temperature laser on it and the air coming out of the unit is 56 degrees. It's also got a energy saver option which will cycle the unit on and off when it detects the temperature changing, which I would use if this were in a common/living area. Best purchase I've made in awhile.

Surprisingly quiet - much quieter than the Frigidaire "casement" 12000 BTU model, and even quieter than the supposedly whisper-quiet Haier Sereneity Series 8000 BTU unit it replaced. Also, very strong cooling capacity. These strength more than compensate for the flimsy packaging (LG - note - your packaging was clearly not designed for the e-commerce age - unit arrived intact but box didn't survive the journey and arrived open, some of the documentation fell out, tho luckily the A/C itself was not damaged). Amazon customer service was, as always, great and very responsive (we were worried about the open box). Overall very happy with the purchase.

This thing is super quiet (compared to other window air conditioning units I've had in the past), and SUPER COLD. I live in a 100-year-old farmhouse with not the best insulation, but I have to set the temperature on this thing to 70 degrees or more because it just does such a great job of cooling. BRRRRR! :)
