I bought this for use with my Xbox One for extra gaming space. My package came during a rainstorm, so thankfully the hard-drive is in a plastic casing beneath its cardboard case, keeping it nice and dry. I have yet to test the "water-resistant"ness of it, and won't actively try to (obviously), but it seems to be quite a durable external. Set-up on the Xbox is SUPER EASY. Just plug it into the USB slot on the back and the Xbox will automatically read it and ask you whether to format it for media or games. Once you choose games, it's a two minute process and then you're good to go! Set-up takes over about .3 TB of the hard drive, so you end up with 1.7TB leftover out of the 2TB advertised (just as an FYI).

This is a fantastic external hard drive. I use this to store my massive collection of movies, shows and my photos/videos. I have had this plugged in for many hours a day every day for months playing videos straight off of it and have had no over heating issues or any other problems. I am quite impressed and surprised at how reliable this hard drive has been. I have dropped it onto my hard wood floors and spilled coffee on it twice and it wasn't even phased. I would definitely recommend buying this to anyone in need of a tough and reliable external hard drive.

had it 2 years lugging it all around the world. the corners plastic has chipped slightly but still in great shape and i love the attached USB cable. I like that it comes with the long cable too but 99% of the time i use the short stubby one which is integrated into the unit. It easily disconnects if you move the laptop around but for just sitting at a desk it is perfect. The only time I use the longer cable when watching a movie directly off the hard drive. You don't need a case for this guy (just another thing to carry around).

I plan to take this as a storage device for my photos as a companion to my laptop when we visit another country known for extremely high humidity, bad roads, sandy beaches and very wet conditions during the rainy season, and it is small, compact, and rugged. It is also my backup drive the rest of the time. Before you start loading all your files on it, be sure to check to see how it has been formatted. If it is a FAT 32, reformat it to NTFS so you can have the greater USB 3 speed. (Right click and choose Properties - General - File system to see) Incredibly fast! I love the attached cable for use on the road, but it comes with a longer one as well. To keep it clean, I LOGICally bought a portable EVA hard drive case just for extra protection from backpack lint and sand.

Works good. Just have to choose between using it for Games or Video on XBox and you are ready to go. Plugged mine into the back, and I haven't seen it in weeks, but it's allowed me to keep games installed and install more games and seems to be a good value in the market if you can deal with the colors cool, if you don't want to see it, but want the space, wire it up in back, hang it with a zip-tie behind monitor, it's pretty small and 2 or 3 zip ties should secure it easily out of the way.

Well packaged and shipped promptly. The product description on Amazon indicates that the drive is USB 3.0, but the package says that it is actually USB 3.1 which is nice. The drive is sleek and feels very solid in your hand. The rubberized edges make it easy to maintain a firm grip. The drive is recognized immediately when you you plug it in with the included USB cable, with no initial setup required. The USB cable is about 12 inches long and fits into 2 rubber clips on the sides of the drive, which is nice. However; when in use, your placement options are limited by the short cable length, . All in all, the drive is exactly as described and just what I wanted. Thanks so much!

All in all this is a great drive for the price and size of storage. I purchased this drive for the sole purpose of editing my video and photo files on the go and switch from computer to computer without uploading large gb files to the cloud. Here are my conclusions: The drive is quite small and lightweight. I have used quite a bit of the LaCie rugged drives in the past and they can be fairly bulky. This drive could slip easily into a slim laptop neoprene case or even a jacket pocket. (See photos). The marketing says its scratch resistant but I dont see that being a reality. The plastic casing on top and bottom is your standard ABS so im sure you will be able to get a scratch or ding or 2 over time. The USB port on the drive itself is a full size USB-C type connector and it is colored the correct Blue (pantone 300) indicating it is in fact a USB 3.0 port. The packaging states USB 3.1 Gen 1 however that confused me because technically USB 3.1 is Gen 2. I tested the speed (see photos) and the average rate was 120.5 MB/s read and 122.5 MB/s write. This is where the drive gets the most stars. USB 3.0 average speed tables are around 60 MB/s so the 3.1 format is clocking at x2 the speed which is just about right, comparative to other 3.1 USB drives. Now to put that into comparison for folks who really need all the speed they can get, the average internal HD clocks in about 300 MB/s so keep that in mind. A USB external drive isnt going to give you the same kind of results. So choose your use case for these types of drives carefully. Testing against my Seagate 5tb tabletop external drives which are also USB 3.1 the write speed is about the same but the read speed on my Seagates are only 95 MB/s. The bench computer is a 27" iMac i7. The drive comes formatted as FAT32. I reformatted it to be a standard Mac OS Extended (journaled) which is compatible with Time Machine so you can use this for your Mac OS backup drive. I like the convenience of attaching the USB cable to the exterior so you don't have to find another place to store a cable, or possibly forgetting it all together. Keep in mind the clips that hold the USB cable are removable. They slip into a silicone rubber channel and do come out if you pull the USB cord hard enough. I don't see a reason why this should be an issue but its also designed not to be permanent so keep that in mind. The cable is also short. I would say 12" port to port. There's 2 non-slip rubber channels on the base so that it wont slide around too much on your desk and the same soft silicone rubber around the entire edges of the drive. They don't stick out past the hard plastic top and bottom however so not sure how effective they would be in dampening the shock from a fall on the corners which is probably the most lethal spot. Keep in mind this drive is NOT a SSD drive (or it would cost a lot more) so don't drop it while it's in use. PROS: Lightweight Fast 3.1 USB r/w Small Size Convenient Cable Storage Low Cost CONS: Not as durable as can be. I give it 4 stars for its construction/durability Not a SSD drive If you like my review please give it Helpful thumbs up!

Very happy with this external HD. I have a MacBook Pro with a 256GB HD and I've been running out of space lately for some lecture videos I've been recording. I bought a 128GB internal SD card and a 128GB USB drive but those only lasted a year before I had them mostly filled up too. So I switched over to this bad boy. I find it to actually be faster than my SSD USB and SD drives even though its an HDD. It definitely feels rugged. I haven't thrown it against the wall or anything but I feel pretty confident it would hold up. I went ahead and bought the recommended case with it just cause I'm paranoid and plan on throwing this thing in the bottom of my backpack. With this case as well I think it could probably get run over by a truck and be fine, plus with the storage case I've got a spot for both the super short portable cable (on the drive itself) and the little bit longer cable that it also comes with. I've since recommended this drive to several of my friends as we will be lecture videos and photos to each other around the country and I'm sure this drive will handle it fine. Will edit if it breaks!

This thing is amazing! My sons finally ran out of storage on the PS4 and this made it so they can still play and add games. Since it’s external and portable makes it even better when they want to stay overnight or just to play games at friends houses, now they can take their fav games with them. I like the fact it’s water resistant and protects from drops as well so I know it will be safe with the boys taking along with them. Will most definitely order another, my hubby and I want to get one to transfer phone data to so we don’t keep running out of cloud storage.
