I'm reviewing the Queen-sized Zinus 18" Premium SmartBase. This took me less than 15 min. to set up, and only cuz i was taking pictures in between. It comes in two parts, folded in half. You basically unfold each almost twin-sized piece (similar to a flat conference tables with folded down legs), click in the safety hooks and tighten the wingnuts on each of the four corners. You then use the included two long screws and wingnut the two parts together to make the complete base-- no tools necessary. This makes for a very tall bed, esp. if you have thick mattresses and a topper like we do. But, the glory of having an ample area to discreetly store supplies makes this SO WORTH IT. I was able to fit EIGHT 20-gallon storage containers that were 17 inches tall and almost 17 inches wide: [23 3/4"x 17" x 16 5/8" (60.3cm x 43cm x 42.2cm)] under this frame, and 18" bedskirts are available--i need to get one. This frame feels very sturdy set-up, for being so lightweight, and has no squeaking- all the parts that touch the floor have plastic caps, so your wood floors should be fine. It feels great to be on the bed, and there is no movement. Best yet, I was able to throw out our old and unwieldy box spring, which was so hard to fit up our stairs during our last move. Yay, Zinus!

Okay - so I have been super busy reorganizing my room for like 2 days because I found this awesome bed frame!. Super easy to put together with just one person (even with a king size) and you can fit TWELVE FREAKIN 20 GALLON TUBS UNDER THERE!! That is crazy amounts of storage!! Oh and i was trying to figure out where I was going to find an extra long bed skirt, when I realized that I could just use some folded over twin size sheets. ;) They are pinned down to frame.

ORIGINALLY I GAVE THIS A 1-STAR WITH THE FOLLOWING COMMENT: First of all this offer came with Prime. A note stated that the item is in stock but will require 1 or 2 extra days. Thus I anticipated it will take 3 or 4 days instead of the regular 2 days. It took 2 weeks to arrive. That was the first disappointment. The first few weeks were great. And then, just after time ran out to return the item it started squeaking - and each week it squeaks more. I now wake up each time I turn from the squeaking noise. I bought this frame based on the claim of the manufacturer on the large number of raving reviews that this frame is quiet and does not squeak. A FEW WEEKS LATER I CHANGED TO A 5-STAR RATING BECAUSE: I'm embarrassed to admit that the squeaking noise was actually not caused by the frame. As it turned out, the wing nuts loosened up and when they are loose, the frame squeaks. Lesson learned! Make sure to tighten the wing nuts as much as possible without over torquing them and if it starts squeaking in the future double check that the nuts are real tight. Now my bed is as quiet as it can be. My apologies to Zinus for falsely accusing you of having delivered a poor product. It is great and I love it. Thanks.

Love, Love, Love the new bed we have put together! I mean LOVE!! The family does too! Everyone wants it now! hehehe!! We built it on this 18" foundation in a king size. Then added the Zinus 12" memory foam mattress which was wonderful , but we wanted extra plush so we also added a memory foam topper, and enclosed both in a mattress protector, and topped that with a quilted mattress topper then sheets. There is absolutely NO need for a box spring! Bedside steps yes, (with a 12" mattress , and topper our bed is 33 inches tall, and I am 61 inches tall! hahaha!) but no boxspring. With all the money we saved we also purchased brand new pillows(6), sheets, & pillowcases! My better half & I have been together for forever now, & have always had queen size beds. **The very first reason being costs! Don't ever believe they "gave" you the boxspring for free either. You get charged for it with the mattress - already included in the price. Raising a family can get really expensive! Which is why we have always gone for the Queen size; However now that our oldest has left home, & the fact that we can knock off the price of a boxspring using this foundation/frame we finally went for the upgrade, & couldn't be happier!! **I should mention this foundation works with boxsping mattresses as well, so even if you are just in need of replacing a boxspring - this will work for you, & support your mattress as it should be. **The space underneath is incredible!! I saw the numbers online (17" of storage space, the other 1 inch being frame), and was well aware, but in person all assembled? WOW!! It's a crazy amount of space!! Currently because we have not as of yet bought the storage tubs to put under the bed have a 125lb dog that keeps climbing up under there to sleep like it's his own little cave, if that gives you any idea how big the space is! **We did order the frame a few weeks prior to the mattress (if we had to we were going to buy it piece by piece), and stored it in the box it came in at the foot of the queen size bed in our spare room. Even though we were upgrading to a king bed it didn't hang out at all. Matter of a fact if we had had to store it in our room then all we would have had to do was to pull our queen bed a few inches from the wall, and slid it behind the headboard until we had the new mattress. We were surprised by how neatly packed, and easily managed the box was. You may however want to check the shipping weight if you plan on handling it alone just to be sure. **Setting it up was a breeze. Any adult within reason can handle it. If you can put a bookcase together then you can put this together. Well, I think that about covers it! **We DO recommend this frame, and hope our review was helpful!

I bought this for one reason only. I DESPISE beds that squeak. So much!!! There’s just something so unsexy about having to hold your headboard with your one free arm or, even worse, waking up the children. NO THANKS. I was on the hunt for literally months to find a bed that didn’t squeak. I realized that the best option for little noise was to get a platform bed without all those wooden slats that come with most beds. And, certainty, don’t have anything that has wooden boards attaching a head and footboard. That leaves so many joints for squeaking. This led me looking for a metal platform bed. However, I wanted something more adult looking than just a metal base. But those all-in-1 beds squeak so bad!! So, I improvised and bought both the smartbase and a traditional bed frame and simply put the smartbase inside of it. ZERO squeaks so far. The smartbase isn’t actually touching the headboard, rails, and footboard so nothing squeaks when it goes rocking. My only qualms/advice were these: 1) you need an Allen wrench to get everything right during install. And use a wrench or needle nose or whatever you have handy to get the wing nuts as tight as possible. 2) you’ll probably want a mattress gripper or rug mat to keep your mattress in one spot. Especially if you’re using a bed skirt. Otherwise it will move a lot if you’re moving a lot. If you catch my drift.

I don't normally review items on Amazon, but I felt the need to review this one. I bought this 2 months ago and I absolutely love it. I've been sleeping on an old daybed frame for the last 22 years and it was well past time for an upgrade. I was used to all the storage I had under my 14in daybed, but I wanted something a little higher to fit taller storage bins. I was originally going to mark this as 4 stars, because the the middle support bars prevent me from fitting 3 bins from head to foot, instead, I could only fit 2 and then there was dead space. I have a really tiny living space, so I need to be able to utilize all the space under my bed. So then I began to search for bins that would actually fit 4 from head to foot side by side, and luck was on my side. The Ikea Samla bins ([...]) fit perfectly side by side, so you can actually fit 8 bins under the bed with almost no unused space. They just squeak under the bed frame height. The frame was also incredibly easy to put together by just one person (though the packaging is a bit heavy), it's sturdy, and it's so freaking quiet, I can't believe it (my old daybed would squeak if I breathed). I thoroughly recommend this bed. I know that it's very difficult to buy things on the internet because everyone wants to voice their opinion, but what actually pushed me to buy this was not just all the amazing reviews, but it turns out a friend of mine bought this same exact bed frame a couple of years ago and she loves it, too. The only criticism I have of this bed is that if you're one person and you like to sleep in the middle of the bed, you will feel the beams in the middle. It might be a little uncomfortable at first, but it doesn't bother me.

My wife and I recently upgraded to a king sized bed and we decided to buy this SmartBase. When you receive this, be aware it is two separate frames that you connect to one another. If you aren't a handy person, don't worry, I promise you this is the easiest thing to put together. lt literally took me about 15 mins. Just stand the frames up and MAKE SURE you lock the legs in place. It was simple and interlocking them was easy as well. Most importantly, this thing is absolutely sturdy. We haven't had any issues at all with it. I strongly recommend this.

My husband and I needed a new base for our new mattress. The company we bought our Mattress through sold us a identical base, however it was back ordered and over $100 more then I paid for this 18' one. I bought this for only $79 and that's an incredibly amazing deal! It arrived slightly later then we wanted due to shipping issues and a fire in California but two days more isn't an issue. It has not made the slightest creak or squeak since setting it up. It holds so many bins underneath my closet feels like a CLOTHES closet one again! And NOT a storage area! There's so much amazing storage under this thing it's worth it to chuck your old boxspring and buy this platform base!! I'm currently an apartment dweller with three kids and this has allowed me to keep valuables safe until we buy a house again. Highly recommended!!

This frame is a game-changer! First, it was less than 1/3 of the price for box springs with a traditional frame. Second, it is much lighter and more compact than a box spring and frame (think: moving, or moving your room around). Third, it provides an incredible amount of under-bed storage! We never had a good spot to store our folding massage table, 2 dining room table leaves, wrapping paper container (you know the long plastic ones with wheels?) and folding chairs. Well, now we do - and there is still room for more stuff, too! I've attached a picture so you can see the table leaves and the wrapping paper container underneath, with so much more room still available. As a bonus, this frame is SOOO easy to put together. It comes in two large folded pieces that you flip upside down, unfold, and then connect with two long bolts and two wing nuts. I spent a total of 15 minutes from the time that I cut the tape on the box, until the time it was completely set up in my room. It would have been less had I been more energetic about it, but hey, it was early morning, and I had just been notified that my new mattress was coming a few hours earlier than scheduled. I'm not a morning person and the coffee hadn't kicked in yet. We've slept on it now and have zero mattress slippage and zero creaking noises when we turn over. The only difficulty I had was finding a bed skirt with an 18" drop. After looking online, I found one out "beyond," if you get my drift. It was pricier than I would have liked, but when it arrived, I could see why - it was a heavy duty material and really well made. But, I digress. My point was to be sure to buy that 18" bedskirt, or or the ugly metal frame legs will be showing. Cuz this thing ain't purty, but you aren't going to see it or think about it once it's set up - except when you are gleefully putting something away underneath it. Enjoy!

I've had the bed for a little over 2 weeks now. I use a deep/thick, heavy mattress on it (which makes it really tall; I'm 5'9" and my feet dangle at least 4" from the ground when the back of my knees are against the mattress). I'm also about 330lbs. I have acid reflux so I have to sleep in the back corner propped up so with it being so tall, I have to wiggle and bounce my way back against the wall. There has been no bending, squeaking, or any problems. It was easy to assemble, though I wasn't quite clear on which side of the little bead between the wing nut and the bed frame the support arms were supposed to be on. I just went with whichever side didn't bend the arm too much. You can tell by the picture that my cats also approve. Lol
