Good Lye...
I used it to clear a shower drain that was plugged with soap and hair, about 85% closed if I had to guess. Wanted to clear the clog, feel the heat in my lungs, and slight sting in my eyes as I used it. I was not disappointed as I got all 3.

Amazing!
This stuff is fantastic. The only product that actually worked as a quick fix to clear my kitchen drain. Also cleaned/shined up the stainless steel brilliantly! I'm gonna have to order more to keep on hand. Do be careful to not touch it though - wear gloves like it says, and make sure no pets or kids will be around it.

works every time
I've stopped using traditional drain cleaners. This works better than any of them. Make sure you run hot water through your pipes first. This will warm the metal and allow it to expand. The lye reacting with the material in the pipes often reacts a little violently with little pops and crackles, and if your pipes are cold, those small reactions COULD rupture them. Pour a half cup or a cup of the lye into the drain. If it doesn't go down, pour a small amount of hot water onto the lye. Only enough to move it down into the drain. Then let it sit for at least 5 minutes. I usually let mine sit for 15 or 20 minutes. Then flush with hot water. Another tip: if you're unclogging a bathtub drain or a bathroom sink drain, I recommend using lye on both drains at once. Sometimes those pipes connect and the clog can be between those pipes where they connect. By using lye in both drains at once, you're sure to completely removed that clog in the intersection.

Gets the job done!!
I live in an old building where the tub and sink stops up all of the time. This does the trick. I use it once a month and a little goes a long way.

Follow above direction to clear a slow draining kitchen drain.
Good safe container for the sodium hydroxide. The chemical is so strong, it must be handled with caution. The effect of clearing a slow kitchen drain that has many years of grease built up in the drain is a cup of lye, and a quart of boiling water, let it stand for an hour.pour in another quart of boiling water, It will make the drain flow amost as good as when new.

I used this to make buttermilk milk based soap. Worked very well! Be sure to use safety goggles and follow safety precautions.

It worked great, the container was void of instructions but I found some in another review. I had tried snaking my shower drain twice with no success. One application of this product (3 tablespoons, preceded by a hot water flush. Then followed 20 min later with another hot water flush) cleared the drain. Large quantity for the price. Great product

Don't waste time with consumer-targeted products. Just use lye and be done with it
This is one of a few pure lye products I've purchased on Amazon. I use it for opening drains up after getting clogged. This product works just as well as the others I've used. Don't waste your time with weak, consumer-targeted products with big flashy labels. Just get some lye, let it dissolve with a bit of hot water down your drain, and call it a day. So easy.
