Excellent pick, has an extended screw to ensure that the Maclock is on tightly. Does not allow you to completely close the MacBook Air all the way, but overall happy.

The lock does precisely what I need - provide a deterrent to someone walking off with MBP. It's not proof against a determined thief though (but then what is) Fits the MBP perfectly and doesn't mar the sleek look. Recommended.

I like it. It's not obvious like some other locks I was looking at, and it still works with the T-bar locks. Glad that it works for my 2018 model. Just wish that it also came in space grey, so it was a perfect match...but it doesn't look too bad :)

I was skeptical that this device could both attach securely AND not impede on the performance of my MacBook Pro. My skepticism was proven to be wrong. It feels quite securely attached, and the small ledge that sits between the screen and keyboard (when the laptop is closed) doesn’t hit the screen at all. I was fearful of it making contact there and leaving a mark over time, but I’ve been using this a few months now with no issue. I also love how its small size makes it just fade away, too. When it’s not locked down, I barely notice the MacLock. I’m still baffled why the engineers at Apple couldn’t find a good way to incorporate a Kensington slot on the newer MacBooks, but in spite of that, this is a clean, sophisticated & solid solution. I’ve been very pleased.

Works exactly as described.

Pretty ingenious on how it attaches to the Mac. Just make sure that you screw down the lock tightly, otherwise it will slide around and not be as secure. It will keep the honest thief honest, but if someone is really determined to take your Mac... they're gonna take it. This is not foolproof or should I say "theft-proof"). I think this is one of better option without using adhesives or drilling into your Mac. You still need a lockdown cable too!

This is a great product. It addresses the fact that most Mac laptops don't have a Kensington lock slot. This gives you that slot without using adhesives, marring your device or being difficult and time consuming to set up when you need it. When I looked at the description I couldn't figure out exactly how it worked because there were no pictures of the installed device from the bottom. I have provided some. The device comes in 2 pieces that clamshell together using the ventilation port to hang onto the device. 2 screws hold the pieces together. It's pretty simple and a very elegant solution. It does block 2 cm (~3/4 inch) of your vent port but this should be negligible for almost everyone. I had it installed in under a minute. The screws are a little bigger than the screws in glasses frames so do it with good lighting and somewhere that you'll be able to find a screw if you drop one (avoid carpet). The kit came with an extra screw and a small torx screwdriver which was a really convenient addition. I can see how it would be easy to strip the tiny screws so I recommend being careful not to over tighten. This seemed pricey to me when I was first looking at it. Having it I can see that it requires really precise machining to work. The fit and finish are perfect. It holds on tightly and doesn't snag or scratch other surfaces. It's silver so it doesn't exactly match the space gray finish but that's a minor issue. So after closer inspection the price seems reasonable. Some have mentioned that it takes away from the sleek appearance of their Macs. It does. But if you have decided you need to lock your device that boat has sailed. The bump of this device is nothing compared to the cable lock that will be sticking out of it. That's the cost of security. Other options are adhesives which will definitely not leave the finish intact should you remove them or bar type locks which are much worse looking IMHO. As for the security aspect some have pointed out that this is not going to foil all thieves. That's true of pretty much all Kensington slot systems and cable locks. They are there to keep a thief from tucking your device under their arm and walking away unnoticed. They will not defeat a thief with time and tools but this solution is an excellent compromise.

I'll feel a lot better on job sites knowing my precious macs are harder to steal. ;o)

Does what it is intended to do. It's not going to stop a professional thief, but the typical scenario involved in a computer walking away centers around the thief who happens across an easy target. This lock-slot add-on, when coupled with a laptop cable lock, provides enough security to keep that from happening. Quick and easy to install.
