Amazing value for money
There are a lot of other reviews on here with more technical details, so I’m just going to say this - when my daughter became ready for a convertible car seat, I did a lot of research about the best and easiest to use car seats, and bought one for $250 as our primary car seat, and this one as our secondary car seat. However, we found that the expensive “easy to use” car seat was actually very complicated, and also very uncomfortable for my daughter. We all preferred this one, and impressed with its quality, despite its low price and light weight. I recently sold the fancy expensive one, and now we have this model. All that said, to be fair, convertible car seats are all just a complicated pain, and I’m not saying this one isn’t, just that it’s not as bad as many others. It’ll still take you awhile to install or remove (it once took me 15 minutes to remove this from an uber because of the placement of the hooks in his car), it’ll seem super heavy when you’re lugging it around an airport, and it takes longer than it should to change the strap settings. But to a certain extent, those are all unavoidable annoyances with any convertible car seat. Oh, and something I didn’t realize before my unfortunate uber incident - you CAN install this with just the seatbelt, not the hooks (way easier and faster for a cab/uber).

Great price, product and three across even in a mid to smaller car!
Wow, wow, wow. This rings the bell on so many counts. The price is excellent, the product is attractive, and best of all, you can get three across in a smaller car. After multiple trips lugging the car seats on the airplane, we decided the extra hour at each end of the trip removing and installing the car seats was too much for the babies and the adults alike. I shopped for months to find a sturdy, safe and inexpensive option. I felt heart-tugs for all the working families who were struggling to make ends meet and were expected to drop $250 for car seats. Then I found this seat. At first I was uncertain about whether it would be good enough but honestly, if you are on a modest budget or if you need it part-time like we do, I cannot think of a better option. Another thing that makes this a super option is its width. It is the narrowest safety seat I could find. We don't have a big car so when everyone comes to visit we have to squeeze three babies and 4 adults and a service dog into two Subarus. The width of these seats helps us get everyone into the car. No one can wiggle, not even the dog, but we make it. The one thing I would note is that the installation of the seat when rear facing is a little loose. We fused with it for quite a while and finally decided that it was very secure but not as snug to the car as other seats we had used. We did not observe the same "play" when it was forward facing. If I had it in my car full time I might investigate a way to add a strap just to stabilize it a bit more. Call it a grandmother's obsession. It might be different in other cars, the Forester back bench-seat is quite flat compared to some cars that have a more concave shape.

here is what I like. 1) It's light
Attention to those who travel!!!! Especially those Mom's and Dad's who have to lug the car seat from the rental car/limosine, through the airport and then install it in an airline seat. THIS IS THE SEAT TO BUY!!! My wife and I travel frequently with our toddler son. Our coworkers also travel with their children and before I went out to buy a car seat (18 months ago) , I listened very carefully to all the stories of seats that they had tried and abandoned, before settling on this one. So after 18 Months with this seat, here is what I like. 1) It's light! At 9 pounds it makes carrying it a joy through the airport (Not that I have to anymore.See Last Paragraph), Especially when you see the other poor parents at an airport trying to lug the 20 pound "Luxury Sofa" that is supposed to be a simple child seat. 2) It cleans up easily!!!, Yes! Sometimes your toddler will try to let you relive your college drinking days by emptying his/her stomach content all over your rental car seats while you and your wife were enjoying the beautiful, winding European or Colorado mountain roads ( FYI - Milk...which becomes yogurt... is not your friend) Ditto that for bumpy flights! The cover is easily detached and machine washable. (By easily I mean you have to know how to unsnap a snap closure. Maybe more difficult for some...than others. ;) 3) It is easily installed. My 6 foot tall, 135 pound wife ( She will kill me later for revealing those stats) has no problem in taking it out, lugging it around and re-installing it in a different vehicle. That said, read the instructions and practice BEFORE you take it on a trip. 4) It's so bloomin' inexpensive! About 50 bucks! That's still a lot of money in my book, but if it gets lost or broken, like in the middle of_______ (Insert Middle of Nowhere City here), you wont be crushed. 5) It's kid approved. My, now toddler, has no problem in sitting in it for 4-5 hours (Sometimes 13, depending on the flight), so it must be comfortable. He certainly isn't as whiney about his seating arrangements as his father.! (Mea Culpa) 6) Bottom Line - It is as safe as all the other car seats on the market. Yes! I checked that also and I definitely did my reseach. Let's say, my job requires me to break things for a living and I'm all about "Safety First" especially when it comes to fragile children....especially mine. ( Now where is that Bubble Wrap Suit, I bought for my kid?) Now i have one more thing for you parents that travel a lot.... When I travel (Solo Parent) with my son, I usally have his car seat, a Carry-On Piece of Luggage (The North Face/Rolling Thunder 22 in), a Laprtop Backpack (Timbuk2) and the piece de resitance, "The Go-Go Babyz Travelmate Car Seat Luggage Strap." ( Look it up on Amazon.) Let me tell you how much, I as a parent and our son, love this combination. From Munich to Salt Lake to Denver, I always get envious looks from parents as they see me zipping through the airport with our son in tow while their hands and sometimes feet, are trying to lug all their baggage and baby gear. Check it out and see if this combination works for you. Good Luck with your purchases!

Great price to value
You know what you are buying when you paid <50$ for this car seat. You have low expectations. Maybe needed it only for a small trip to use and throw away. But, be amazed when you decide to keep it for future use as well because we did. It passed well through airport handling and kept up without any issues. We returned Cosco APT 50 and went with this seat. Cushion and layered protection is better. Car seat is much slim on the sides and less in length but it does the job. The side cup holder is cool as it can be attached to either side as needed. Only missing point is that this seat will soon outgrow my son as he is approaching 40" and also, this doesn't have neck/shoulder cushion pads (DO purchase them for 5-6$). Otherwise, am happy with my purchase.

highly rated by independent reviewing orgs
I got a lot of crap for buying such an, "affordable" carseat, but it turns out, this carseat is very highly rated by conusmer reports.

Managed to get a leveled, tight fit w/out towel and despite being petite
We bought the Evenflo Tribute LX Convertible Car Seat, Saturn for our last trip the US over a month ago, since it was cheaper to buy a budget-friendly car seat vs. renting one from the car company. Plus, we also needed a second car seat to leave at grandma's house. So far, I'm really liking this car seat, even over our more expensive Peg Perego Switchable 0+/1 (the European version of the Peg Perego Convertible car seat). What I like: - Safety ratings. Although we can't personally attest to the safety ratings, after reading ample reviews of this product, it seems to have safety ratings in crash test that exceeds the minimum requirements. - Very light. Finally, a convertible car seat that weigh less than my 1.5 year old! This was a big factor for us in buying another car seat, since my husband was sick of carrying our heavy Peg Perego whenever we travel. - Easy to care for cover. My LO gets car sick a lot...and, yes, that means he sometimes vomits after long car rides. So the fact that we can throw the entire cover in the washing machine is a Godsend. With our Peg Perego, I could only spot clean the cover. - Release button was easy to use. - Contrary to many reviews who found this seat hard to use without a towel, I managed to get a leveled and tight fit, rear-facing and using the latch system. Despite being a non-athletic, petite woman (5' and 95 lbs), I was able to use my body weight to get a good fit in our 2017 KIA Sorreto and economy Citroen car rentals. I think the key is to pull the latch threat from inside the car seat instead of from the side, so that means lifting part of the seat cover, which for me was not hard to take on or off. - Made in the USA (although the cover is made in China). What I'm neutral about: - This is a no-frills, bare-bone car seat (hence the lighter weight and lower price). - The padding is very thin, although the seat area has a bit more padding. Since my LO cannot really express the level of comfort of this car seat, I can say that he managed to fall asleep consistently when we drive somewhere for more than an hour. What I dislike: - The cup holder that came with the seat is practically useless. It is no longer as how it is pictured, and the new version--although it looks better--seems to have been made as an afterthought. You cannot attach the cup holder without the cover squishing over the opening. The direction also says you can only use a soft cup in the cup holder...I guess that means you can't really use a sippy cup or most reusable bottles in this unless they are made out of styrofoam or very soft plastic. - If I don't pay attention, I always get the thread (that you pull to tighten the seat belt) stuck between the car's seating and the car seat, and it's not always so easy to fish out after you've achieved a leveled and tight fit. - It takes a bit of space when you're rear-facing so the front-passenger seat cannot recline or go back far. Overall, I am very satisfied with this car seat. So much that we might leave our other convertible car seat at grandma's instead of this one.

Great carseat for traveling...especially overseas
I actually like this carseat more than our heavier, highly padded, more expensive carseat. It's really easy to install...I've installed it in 4 cars now...one was with the actual carseat buckle...not the latches. I originally bought this for our recent two-week trip to Ireland with our almost two- year old. It's perfect...really lightweight and the fact that it doesn't have bells and whistles is even better. Also, there was a point when we arrived back home and thought it may have been lost but it arrived in the oversized baggage area. Since I spent less than $40 for this carseat, I didn't feel that bad in case it didn't show up. My kid actually likes this carseat better and since it's so lightweight, so do I. It's perfect for traveling.

My daughter and my 2 year old were in horrible crash.
My daughter and my 2 year old were in horrible crash... the car flipped over, slide across the highway landing upside down! The car seat saved her life! Just some red marks from the straps!!! Amazing!!!

MONEY WELL SPENT
SHIPPING Item arrived in time as promised tucked in a sturdy cardboard shipping box. Both the box and product were intact. WHAT IS GOOD ABOUT IT I already have an expensive ( I paid $250) child car seat from another brand but I wanted one especially for the upcoming travel weight being the concern. This car seat is very light but it is also sturdy. Adjusting the harness is easy and convenient. Adjusting the harness on the other car seat ( the expensive one ) is a Hercules task. The seating pad is soft yet firm. Fits perfect for my daughter. Has a cup holder that is detachable. The best part of this car seat is its weight. It is so light I could carry it all over the terminal without feeling the weight. It fits perfectly in a Delta domestic flight which was a Boeing ( Not sure about the Aircraft model) . However, It did not fit on a Spirit flight which was an Airbus. I had to do the gate check in, for that particular flight. It looks sturdy and feels well built but can not comment on the quality until it is out to a test which I would not want. Going through the previous reviews, I remember some one mentioning about the real life test and how it saved the child. So I feel, it should do well in case of an unfortunate event. WHAT IS NOT SO GOOD ABOUT IT The only minor issue is with the cup holder. It does not stay in place when you load it up with a heavy cup. I can use some glue to put it in place but then it is beats the idea of "detachable cup holder". Bottom Line It is value for money and the best car seat If you have to carry it on a flight or use it on a rental car. Would I recommend it to a friend Yes, I would.
