I bought this to use with Feline Pine litter. Actually, I use horse bedding from Tractor Supply, which works better than Feline Pine. This box is amazing. You can remove the solids, sift the sawdust to the bottom, and dump it. The box is also easy to clean with soap and water. I was using the Tidy Cats Breeze boxes until I found these, but these work much better and are easier to clean. I was skeptical but I absolutely love these. So simple!

I am a cat mom and my cats are very important to me. Having a clean litter box is a very important responsibility as it can impact your cats health and wellbeing. Cleaning the litter boxes was the worst thing on my chore list. It took long and I just overall hated doing it. I have 3 cats and had 6 litter boxes for them. I went through a box of cat litter a week at about $15 per box of litter. I spent 45 plus minutes scooping each litter box. I bought 1 sifting litter box to try it out and let me tell you it was life changing! I wish I had purchased sooner. Takes me 10-15 minutes to clean 5 boxes and I buy my cat litter once every 3 weeks now. You get 2 boxes and 1 sifter. I really only needed the sifter and an extra box. I did end up buying 2 more of these. With this sifter, I threw away my old litter boxes, I am now able to get away with only having 5 active litter boxes for my cats to use, I have saved time on my Sundays cleaning the boxes, and I am able to clean the empty box weekly of any leftover debris stuck on the extra box not in use for that week. I know they will always have a clean litter box which is important to me. Yes some of the clumps stick to the sides which I read in other reviews before buying. Honestly that makes it easier becaue you can scrape it off right into the garbage so it doesn't get sifted back into the clean litter. I highly recommend this product and it is great if you have more than one little box in your household. I have saved time and money with using this product.

I was looking for a sifting box for our pine litter. This sifter is the perfect size so that the saw dust falls thru and the pellets stay on top. I hot-glued some foam pieces to the underside of the top-sifter which gives me about 1" beneath the sifter for the sawdust to accumulate in. Without this space -- there is only about .25" between pan and sifter and it doesn't really work. The only issue I see is that this works for 2 kittens -- but I'll be looking for a larger version of this litter box for when my cats are full grown.

With two cats, I was using a very large plastic storage tub as a litter box. When I added this box in a different place, both cats simply preferred it. I don't know why, but they do. Wet litter can clump to the bottom just like in a regular box, but I find it much easier to scrape off rather then scraping the bottom of a conventional pan. Just lift up the top pan and the litter sifts down and out. I use a small trash bag, slip the pan in and dump it in. Easy! Yes, it's not perfect and there will be some sticky stuff once in a while, but I have found that's because the cat just used the pan and the litter did not have time to harden up. I am buying two more, because they don't want to use the large pan after using this one. I thought having a really big place for them to go was the answer, but they prefer using the smaller one. Hey... they are cats... who knows why the do things!.

I ended up buying this product after reviewer said it worked well with Feline Pine. I buy a similar product from Petsmart ‘Exquisite’ which is a lower priced pine litter that works really well (similar to the pine horse bedding in farm stores). This litter box setup is extraordinary! I put the litter directly in the ‘sifter bin’ and the other 2 boxes underneath which hold the pad. The pine litter absorb some of the urine and then turns into sawdust on the bottom, which then falls through the sifter grate onto the puppy pad I have underneath. The pad absorbs the extra urine so the used litter is not soaked through and my cats paws do not come into as much contact (I like to keep things clean). I also believe it greatly reduces the odor when compared to a typical litterbox setup. The only downside of this box was it’s size- I have a bengal who prefers to perch on the side of a jumbo litterbox to do her business and this one was just too small. Problem solved- this litterbox fits perfectly inside of her jumbo one with extra tall sides (see pictures) so she never misses the litterbox but still can perch on the side as it’s an open concept. Love it! Would highly recommend.

We are a cat loving family, and have 3. I bought this litter box after being incredibly frustrated with the horrible ongoing litter box smell in our home, plus the fact that we spend so much money every month on cat litter. We tried many sprays, powders, and scented scoopable litters, but nothing got rid of the smell. We were also tired of stepping on litter around the litter box constantly regardless of the fact that we had a fully enclosed litter box and would sweep around it more than once a day. How to: Purchase "Pine Pellet Bedding". We got a 40lb bag from Tractor Supply for $5.99. Line the bottom tray with a garbage bag (our normal drawstring tall kitchen bags work for this). Fill the top tray with the pine pellets. In order to make this work, you have to put some wood chunks or something similar, on the bottom tray under the plastic bag liner (see pic). Just make sure the wood is thick enough to ensure there is a couple of inches between the two trays. Each time you scoop the box (for poop), you shake the top tray around and all of the "urine dust" falls and is collected in the bottom tray. When the cat/s urinate in the box, it causes the pellets to immediately reduce to a dust. We have been using this set up for over a week and still not had to change out the plastic bag liner in the bottom tray, there is zero urine scent. The best part of this set up, in my opinion, is the fact that you never have to change out all of the pellets. You just keep adding new pellets in as needed. With our old traditional litter box set up, I would have to dump all of the litter at least once a week and refill due to the odor. We have been using this set up for over a week and I have not smelled any cat urine smell whatsoever! When the cat/s poop, that has to be scooped out and tossed like in a normal litter box- because the poop does not get covered in litter, it does smell a little worse than a traditional litter box. There is a light pine smell due to the pellets, and overall the box smells so much better than our old traditional box (but when the cat/s poop, you want to get it out as soon as you can due to smell). I occasionally find some pellets that have been kicked out of the box but nothing compared to the amount of litter that would be kicked out throughout each day- and this is an open box as opposed to our old enclosed box. My experience with this set up has been GREAT. I wouldn't even think about going back to our old litter box set up. We will also be saving so much money every month it's ridiculous. Maybe now we can get a couple more cats? LOL.

I have a multi cat household and bought one 2 weeks ago. For those who don't like it because the litter is sticking to the side of the box try a better brand of litter. I had the same problem with the urine clumping and sticking to the pan then breaking up. What a mess. I went to a better brand of litter and that problem was solved. I do scoop the poop daily and with the better litter I can scoop the clumps of urine and they don't stick to the sides and they don't break apart. Saves a a lot of time and money. I just ordered another one.

I am so excited that I found this litter box! Although I am a fairly new cat owner, I did a ton of research before I spent my money on the perfect litter box for our 4 year old calico adopted kitty. I already knew that I would be buying wood pellet cat litter before I brought our cat home. I started out using a regular litter box with a liner. I would have to scoop out her solid waste and filter out the solid pieces of wood apart from the saw dust with a scooper every couple of days which was exhausting. I decided to but this litter box and it's a game changer! I buy a box of Xtra large puppy pads from Costco for $13.99 for 100. I line one of the gray boxes with a puppy pad and pour a thin layer of baking soda onto the pad. Then I place the box with the holes in it on top. I put the other gray box in the closet but you could also put it under them both. Every day, I scoop her solid waste with a slotted scooper and then I pick up one side of the box with holes and run my scooper through the litter that she urinated on to assure the saw dust falls onto the pad. I only have to change the pad about every 5 days. The reason for the baking soda is because the wood pellets don't clump and the urine falls through onto the pad so this absorbs moisture and odor. I purchase a 40 pound bag of wood pellets from a horse supply store like Tractor Supply for $6 and it will last up to 6 months or more. The puppy pads can last up to 4 months. This box is currently less than $20. BEST part of all that I have said is THERE IS NO ODOR! You literally cannot smell anything, especially if you are diligent in picking up your cat's solid waste and filtering the saw dust to the bottom every day. Scented clumping litter is toxic to cats as well as terrible for our lungs. Non-clumping clay litter is still toxic to cats and breathing in the dust is horrible for humans. Take my advice. Buy this box and use it with wood pellets.

best way to handle kitty pans.. I use mortar mix pans from Home Depot ($5.35 per pan..and they are GREAT), this sifter does the trick sifting the "ickies"..I gave the two pans to my husband for use in the garage.. I just wanted the sifter.....never have to do more than sweep up the unused litter the kitties scatter around the pans..

This product was a recommendation by an Amazon customer service rep when I called about something else. Somehow we started talking about our cats and she recommended this sifting litter pan. This is a great way to clean the cat litter, and once again, Amazon customer service went above and beyond to be helpful.
