it might be easy to lose
Pros: very small, does the job done as advertised. The small size made me rethink how I organize my cables etc. I put it in a small plastic bag and organized the rest of my cables the same way. Ot figs tight (maybe a bit too much) It works for me. Cons: it might be easy to lose, I keep mine in little plastic bag as I mentioned earlier. It get hot only when I transfer huge files. Cools off fast but I do not know whether if affects the card. No cap. And these are observations and questions I could not answer myself. The card loads on the front. I checked it several times for damage (scratches, dents): so far nothing to worry about. Does anyone has problems with it? This is question for the seller: When I pull it out from the port the cover comes off. And the device is easier to pull because the surface looks. But it feels and looks as if it is made for betther grip. Is the cover supposed to he removed before I plug it in the port?

working just fine
One thing though this get HOT like 110F hot when its being used constant. It wont 1st degree burn you but it does get very warm. Im thinking heat sink to help keep it from failing due to overheat. I may actually buy another one. Im using this one for a USB Linux install that im currently using at the moment writing this review and have been for the last few days now so far no OS glitches or read and write errors i wanted to dual boot to a usb device so i can use the Linux OS for other computers. Im useing SanDisk 64GB Ultra good response time and booting

Nice small little micro SD card reader
Nice little card reader that puts the micro SD card in backwards on the opening - hard to explain, but works well. Not as small as a patriot micro SD card reader it's replacing, but it's nice a small which is what I wanted. Reads cards at proper speed, class 10 cards on USB 3 writing to standard HDD at about 20mb/sec, so speed is fine. Gets a little hot if transferring large amounts of data for a while (clearing & reloading my 128gb card), but not enough to worry about it much. Good buy

Good unit, but gets hot enough to burn you
This item performs as advertised, I got nearly 95MB/s (that's a byte, with a B, not a bit, with a b) speed out of it through USB 3.1. Equivalent would be nearly 750mbps. The outer casing is aluminum and appears to act as a heat sink, as it gets astonishingly hot during use...just a guess since I don't have a non-contact laser thermometer lying around but I'd say it got nearly 55C. I am using it only with a desktop but knowing the proximity of most laptop's USB ports to human flesh, I'd say it would be good to be mindful of the temp during extended transfers otherwise you could brand yourself. Otherwise, highly recommended based upon the performance alone.

Fastest reader I've found, I carry it everywhere
This reader isn't perfect, but it is really fast. Pros: * Actual USB 3.0 (I have a dozen readers that turned out to be 2.0) * Fastest reader I've found (with the right media) * Affordable! Cons: * Gets hilariously hot * Sometimes the media is difficult to remove, but I have always managed. There are a few negative reviews for this product, but they are the minority. It is awfully inexpensive so I guess there could be quality issues for some, but I own 4 now and have had zero problems. Since the quality of microSD memory modules varies greatly (see my reviews) I think that is probably the culprit. I recommend a fast module like the Samsung Pro Plus or SanDisk Extreme. My photo shows a copy in progress at 90MB/sec from a Samsung Pro Plus. The heat is really something, probably because the reader is so small there is just nowhere for the heat to go. I'm not worried about the electronics, which are safe to about 185 degrees F (85C). But it can get almost too hot to touch, and I plan to add a couple heatsinks to get this under control. There are inexpensive adhesive heatsinks designed for the Raspberry Pi here on Amazon that would work. I will use one on each side of the grip. Of course, you can always use a cloth or just wait a few minutes for it to cool down.

Solid Product!
The card reader has been working well up until now, and I haven’t had any problems using it (After 5 months at the time I wrote this review). Its size it is really good to be carried everywhere. It is a little bigger than a quarter. Although, if you wonder about carrying it on a keychain the answer is no. There is no hole or a key ring to put it on your keychain. I didn’t really care about this as I thought of disassembling it to use in a project that I planned on getting to someday. So keep that in mind if you were looking for some kind of pen-drive keychain. The material from which this product was made out of doesn’t feel sloppy as other SD readers I have seen out there. Further to my previous comment about disassembling it, I found that it is difficult to do so because all is really closed made of an only solid plastic case. It is not made of two parts that just pop up to be opened. So although I wasn’t expecting to be that way, this is a positive point just because it’s shown to be a good product after all. I like the fact that instead of putting the micro SD card on the back, it goes into the usb tip. I also have to mention that there isn’t any cap to cover the tip, which it can be a disadvantage. The SD card fits kind of tight inside the slot, so it is very improbable that it will fall down due to the lack of a cap. Yet, you still have to be careful and keep an eye on it if you’re on your way down to somewhere and as the saying goes “better safe than sorry”.

A welcome addition to micro management.
With two dash cams, a digital camera, and a action camera, all with micro SD cards; this little item is just what you need. I often would get out of the car or truck after removing the SD card from the dash cam, get side tracked, and then be worried about loosing or damaging it before I could get it to the computer card reader. Now, I just put the SD card right in this, drop it in my pocket and go about my business till I'm ready for it with no worries.

Very nice compact reader at true USB 3.0 speed.
Very compact, probably the most compact true USB 3.0 microsd card reader I could find anywhere. with a Samsung EVO 64GB card, reads 90MB/s and writes 60MB/s, limited by the speed of the card itself. definitely a true USB 3.0 speed. The micro-usb slot built into USB connector is very tight and secure, no need to worry about losing the card.

Awfully Fast
This adapter is one of, if not the fastest I've found. Although I have not done any testing of this, it may even be faster than all of my usb 3.0 thumb drives I have, which is surprising. It has an aluminum housing which may be a necessity to reliability/performance, as it gets really hot when you are copying files to it for any length of time, i.e. it may be as much a heat sink as well as a durable cover.. I just now copied 5gig to it, and you know how some cards or thumb drives jump up really fast at first then slow to a crawl, this does none of that. It started at 20MB/sec, quickly jumped up to 25 and stayed between 25 and 30MB/sec until it finished. Although not a fault of the product since I purchased it knowing this: I wish it had a cap or cover, and even a carry ring for a key chain would be helpful. Regardless, it is awfully fast..

Very versatile
This thing is great. Works quick and is very discreet when plugged in the USB socket in the car. But the applications of usage when on the go works really well. Was able to take out the SD card with music and use in my phone when traveling. Then right back into the adapter and plugged into the rental car or small speaker in my hotel room without any issues. It's nice to be able to carry a good size digital music library and still be able to transfer other media with it.
