Love This!
My brother won some goldfish at the carnival and brought them home for me so I needed to throw together a fish tank very quickly. After doing a lot of research and recognizing that goldfish require very good filtration, I chose this filter. I was originally going to get one of the smaller ones, but I needed it to have mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration so I went for the filter that works in tanks up to 10 gallons. I have it in a 5 gallon tank right now. When I first put it in, it created a strong current that moved the marimo balls and made it so my fish couldn't swim. However, after letting it sit in the tank overnight, there have been no problems at all with creating a strong current. The filter is a decent size. Pretty big for a 5 gallon tank, but not so big that it takes much away from the decor or the fishs' swimming space. The important thing is it has so far done an amazing job of keeping my tank's water clean! My fish seem very happy and the water remains crystal clear every day, even under the aquarium lights. The suction cups that keep it attached to the glass are really strong and are holding up well. I haven't had to wash it yet, but just from setting it up I can tell it'll be easy to clean it and replace the carbon filter. I recommend the 10-gallon filter for anyone with a tank 5 to 10 gallons (maybe even as low as 3 or 4 gallons, but definitely no smaller than that).

HUGE FILTER for 40 gallon...but quiet and works well so far...
Well, the title says it all, really. The filter is about 10.5" top to bottom, and the only way to make it really quiet is to mount it using the 4-suction-cup option (rather than hanging on 2 clips - the other option. This means the entire 10" is visible in your tank. I like to over-filter a bit, so this is actually in a 30-gallon tank, but rectangular, so not really so much smaller than a 40 size. Tried mounting it on the clips, but this way it spills its water out in a waterfall, and I am used to an internal filter with very little sound at all. When mounting inside using the suction cups, I have to watch the water level very carefully, or the filter is completely submerged and it looks as if incoming unfilitered water might overflow out the back of the filter tank, over the foam and the carbon filters. Too bad, because now my aquarium is not fillable to the top - there is an inch of open glass showing at he top frame. Quiet, tho, and the filtration looks good for the first two weeks. Note: >>>> the dimensions are very close to : 10.5 top-bottom...4.0 front-back...6.0 side-side, which would be about right for a hang-on-the-back filter, but big, big for inside-the-tank.... PS: comes with a couple of $2 coupons for Aqeon fish food and supplies...did not look too closely at those.

No need to prime is the best thing about this filter
Compared to over the back style filters, this one is really quiet. I got it because it doesn’t need to be primed, which was a concern of mine should power go out while we weren’t home. Sure enough, we went on vacation and the power went out! This filter just restarted itself. Probably saved my fish and maybe even kept my home from burning down had my old otb style one burned out the motor. If you want peace of mind, you might consider this style. Easy filter packet change too.

Exceeded Expectations!
Fantastic power filter. I have a 3 gallon tank and my old filter died over the weekend, so I had to find a replacement quickly. When I originally plugged it in, it was so quiet that I thought for a second that I had received a faulty product. Again, it is VERY quiet. I can't hear it at all when the lid is closed on my tank. The outflow is also very gentle, perfect for my beta. The water has been perfectly clear for over a week now, so I will definitely recommend this power filter to anyone with a small tank.

Awesome. Got the 3 gallon size. Comes with everything
Put this in my 3 gallon Betta tank. Probably the most gentle filter out there. The fish was surprised at first but after a few hours he got very comfortable and I'm pretty sure he thinks the current is a toy now. I turn it off at night so he can sleep because he passes out like a drunk and can't do so when he has to keep swimming. I'll put this in my 10 gallon when I upgrade him so it has an even gentler current in a larger space. Great product. Also, makes zero noise and cleared up the cloudiness.

Works well

but the low flow is nice. I added a sponge for biological filtration as ...
This is actually quieter than the air pump/stone I have in my little tank. It's a bit overkill for my tank, which is just a few triops, a java fern, and a marimo, but the low flow is nice. I added a sponge for biological filtration as it didn't come with one. It comes with four suction cups, with the option to replace the top two suction cups with two hooks to hang over the edge of your tank, which is what I ended up using (my tank is spherical).

Great DIY / Self Made pet water bowl filter
I used this to make my own cat ( or dog) water bowl filter. Works great, and *WAY* cheaper than the proprietary pet bowl water fountain / bowls you can buy. I got the plastic container at Costco, but any restaurant support store will do. Just make sure it is deep enough and square in shape.

flows like a proper filter
Works extremely well, flows like a proper filter. I can’t hear it running it’s SO quiet. If you need a great filter for a 2.5 gallon or bigger, it’s perfect. I have a 2.5 gallon with one of my Berta’s and the flow is perfect, and doesn’t disrupt the water that much at all. He swims perfect. Keeps the wTer so clean also. I love it! I’m buying a few more! The lid stays on also very well.

Grew to love it after initial hesitance
I'm editing this after having the filter for about a year, and increasing the rating to 5 stars from 3. I'm further editing after using this for almost 2 years. This filter is super quiet and has a very low flow which is great for my betta who is in a 5-gallon tank (I use the 3 gallon filter). I have one betta who loves a high flow but the other does not. I didn't realize how good it was until I got the second betta and used a different filter. Other filters I've tried make a loud nose either during normal use or after the water goes beneath a certain level. The reason I like this one is because it's totally silent, and even when water evaporates a lot, it doesn't get louder (unless it gets very low, then it's just a splashing water noise). One con is that the cover doesn't stay on very well, but that's not a huge deal. I love that this is so inexpensive because I can just purchase a new one after a tank illness or other issue where I need to either super-clean everything or throw stuff out. I think I am on my fifth or sixth one now. No issues with any of them breaking or making noise. I just needed to replace them sure to illnesses, like I mentioned, or like a mold infestation. I highly recommend this filter.
