Great product I recommend!!!
Works great bought 2 one for me and one for my brother. Very solid, has a nice clean look to it. Comes with a a cable that's about a foot long but since it's just a usb 3.0 cable I just use a longer one I had laying around. Very fast if your planing on transferring a lot or a big file I've noticed that using the included cable seems to go faster. If your using it on Windows you won't be able to eject it because it thinks it's a internal drive same with Linux but I don't know about Apple. Great product I recommend it!!!

Simple execution, proper result
Did perfectly! I put my SSD from my last PC (which died due to a tragic water cooling system rupture) into this enclosure, and was immediately able to boot and then use Samsung's software kit to move my Windows install to the new NVMe SSD. Speeds were close to what my old Corsair GS SSD was able to push (it was rated at 5.4Gbps peak read, and this hit around 4.8Gbps which is impressive with USB 3.0/3.1g1 limitation of 5Gbps). I have since reformatted that old SSD and it is in my bag for laptop video storage when I'm on the go.

IMPORTANT: READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE YOU BUY OR RATE DOWN
Don't listen to these reviews that say the enclosure doesn't work. Only two things wrong with this enclosure: 1. Those people clearly don't know how to use Windows or at least Google or YouTube(let alone their brains). 2. The manufacturer doesn't give a heads up on what to do to make your hard drive actually WORK. If it doesn't it's either a bad drive, a bad cable or the enclosure itself meaning you got a dud. Long as all your hardware works you'll be fine by doing the following: 1. Put you drive in the enclosure and connect it to the computer. 2. Open Disk Management under Administrative Tools(may also be Computer Management depending on your version of Windows). 3. Go to YouTube and search "How to Initialize a Hard Drive". There are plenty videos that show what to do and most of them are about 4-5 minutes long at the most. 4. THINK. -_- I have 2 Samsung 860 EVO drives. One in this enclosure and one in another buy Orico. As of right now they both work great and my review will stand as is unless that changes.

Easy to use and can work on many levels
This is GREAT!!!! I had a special edition white 4TB x box external hard drive i got on sale at Amazon for 119$ plus tax it was sooo slow . So I saw these and since i build custom laptops and fix video game consoles for people I figured this would be great . I Instantly threw in my 4 year old Seagate Hybrid ssd and 7200 spinning rpm HDD that is 750GB so now with 8 games i have 1TB free which is all I need really as i am 41 and dont game nearly as much as i use to . This is also great as you can make your own size and speed type of laptop / desktop external hard drive . Meaning you can go up to 10tb is says , but i have a 2 tb 5400 spin drive i can put in it and give to my wife for her pics. Or swap out the hybrid and put in a new Samsung 500GB 860 evo i got free from my best buy points at x mas time it was only 68% and my points covered it /So i can have 550mb per second write and 520 read if i perfer from the 7200 spin drive with 8 gb of ssd . That is working great i just noticed X box makes a 500 GB ssd "Exclusive external hard drive and its around 320$ Now look this external drive was just under 11$ a 500GB Samsung top of the line ssd (not a generic who knows whats inside x box ssd ) is max 78$ on Amazon or B.B so figure 90$ for a Samsung ssd for your x box or 320$ because it says for x box .. Anyway you can use a 1 TB ssd for around 100$ so total 110$ and it is all plug and play you have just 1 extra step you must go to settings then go to the drive and physically click format where as the x box version as soon as you plug it in says hold the x on controller to start and format . But going to the drive is simple and well worth saving 200+ $. I rec. getting a few of these at 10$ 1 as a back up and one for your computer .. Great work U Green also they include USAP which i do not know what it is but is suppose to increase the 3.0 speed . I did notice a 56GB game i transferred to test it only took 5 to 7 minutes opposed to 22 minutes with the x box white special edition version

It does what it states.
The product was used to mount a laptop 2.5 inch hard drive (HDD), after the laptop received a solid state drive (SSD). The HDD slid into the case between two flexible shock mount strips and positively latched onto the connector. The old HDD became a plug and play stand alone backup drive. Plastic is not usually my preferred material, this avoids any issues with the mechanical hard drive's circuit board touching the frame. The case is not overly durable like true mobile hard drives employ, but this unit will be mostly kept in a drawer. USB 3.0 and in-use light are definite good features.

Very nicely packaged for something this inexpensive
Arrived in 2 days. Very nicely packaged for something this inexpensive. The supplied cable is short and ok for an adjacent laptop, but I am using it with an under-desk tower and purchased a separate Amazon Basics 3ft USB 3 cable for $6. I have used this with a Kingston 250gb SSD to do an image of my windows 10/1804 OS. I can't measure the speed but it appears windows 10 does use it as a UASB device based on how quickly it wrote the image. Now I have a standard 300GB Hitachi 2.5 inch mechanical drive in it working very well. Unit has a plastic but quality case. The unit has soft padding on the insides to insure a snug fit---so you have to push a little harder -- not just drop it in. No heat issues with either drive. Very pleased. Company followed up with an email also.

This is a great enclosure. I'm going to say it again a GREAT enclosure. I've had a ton and this one wins for the following reasons: 1) It works. Lots of drives in and out, still going strong. 2) It's fast. Actually supports the standards it says it does. 3) It's lightweight. Adds very little to the drive. 4) It's simple. Could not be easier to drop drives in and use them. 5) Elegant design. It's actually great looking and has solid design. 6) It's affordable. Delivers a ton of value for the cost. Great work UGREEN!

For people who said the drive didn't show up.
I put in a SSD and plugged in the usb, and the drive didn't ahow up at first in Windows 10. I look at the device manager and took me a while to see the drive under VLI string. Turns out, the SSD was in RAW format without partition. Go to storage in manage under my computer. The drive will show once it is formatted and initialized. Should have known this, but I guess I have been so spoiled by all plug-and-play stuff we get to have these days.... Overall, the enclosure has a nice simple design, and sturdy. It is affordable and it works. Can't complain.

What will you do with that hard drive you just replaced with an SSD? Here's the $10 answer.
I just replaced the hard drives in my laptop and my wife's laptop with Samsung EVO 860 SSDs to try to get back some of the performance lost to Windows 10. It seems a shame to toss a 1Terabyte and a 256Gbyte hard drive just because they no longer work well as boot drives. What to do? Turn them into nearly free external USB drives with this $10 (and change) kit from UGREEN. I ordered two kits. They arrived at my friendly neighborhood Amazon store the next day. Frankly, I didn't know what to expect at this price. What I got were nicely packaged enclosures with 1-foot USB 3 cables and readable instructions. I broke a fingernail trying to get the first one apart. (Hint: There's a nearly invisible clear film tape wrapped around the front bezel that hold's the enclosure's sliding panel in place so be sure to remove that film before taking the case apart.) It takes less than 60 seconds to open the enclosure, slide in the hard drive (or it could be an SSD), and close the case, plug in the right end of the cable to the enclosure, and plug the USB end of the cable into your PC. Boom, it came up like a dream for me, twice in a row. I plan to use these enclosed drives as clones. Backup will entail using cloning software so that these drives will always be ready to pop back into a laptop should one of the SSDs fail. (Unlikely) These enclosures are plastic, not aluminum. What do you expect for $10. They're fine by me. Any shock that would crack the enclosure would likely also destroy the bard drive inside although the enclosure has rubber bumpers to provide some level of physical shock protection. In all, I'm very pleased with these enclosures and can highly recommend them.

Nice Enclose At A Good Price
Reading some of the reviews of other enclosures made of metal and possible shorts, this unit caught my eye. Quality plastic, so, not concerned re: breaking/cracking. SATA connector has no exposed wiring/boards, so, no worry there for shorts as well. The Samsung 830 I pulled from my dead old Macbook Pro slid into the tray with no issues. Mac's Disk Utility saw it, and was able to reformat to Apple's APFS format with no issues. No formal timings on through put, but see really fast copy times from my Samsung T5 drive to this "new" drive. Nice to have the blinky light to know plugged in and working. Would not hesitate to buy again.
