Perfect tool for marking all metals

I have been using these to mark steel for years. Given how thin the mark is, these allow you to be deadly accurate within .001”. Not that my work is that sensitive, but it is great to make repeatable marks and cuts without using my cnc or mill. Furthermore, these are great for marking clean metal, rusty metal, greasy metal, painted metal, absolutely the perfect tool for the job. This is the best option as well because it includes a couple extra tips.

Good value priced scribers

5 stars for the price. Not the best quality tools, but not bad either. Inexpensive and comes with replacement tips, I really like that. Works great. I don't care for the magnet, took some heavy-duty side cutters and popped them out and then filed off the rough edges. I use them to scribe my initials on my tools, scribe the name of electronics on the wall-warts/power supplies that go to them, etc. Just reverse the tip in the holder to protect it when not in use. I use scribers often and I am happy with these scribers.

Super nice deal. They scribe nicely in Stainless and carbon steel! One in my pocket and another on the work table lol Can not beat the price. Not sure what kind of unobtanium this will not scribe on. I use my pocket one to cut and shape my miniature contraptions and I love it. You can grind any shape on the tips to carve small. 😍

They're great

I am writing this review for my boyfriend. We share this account and he was the one who ordered this. First off. This scribe is pointy as hell. So be careful when taking it out of the package. These little guys shipped in record time. The packaging was standard bubble envelope. The plastic package was not damaged in any way and inside the package the scribes had little plastic tubes covering the points so you do not prick yourself. They both worked really well. We immediately got scratch happy and tested it on lots of stuff. It worked on glass, wood(obviously), metal sheets, and my copper wire that I use for jewelry. These scribes are great!

Good value, plenty-good build, extra tips a big plus.

I like these and the price makes them a great value. My only reservation is that the magnet at the top makes their behavior on the bench somewhat unpredictable; I often end up picking up more than I bargained for when I lift it off the bench. The extra tips make these long-lived with reasonable care. Carbide is brittle, so any rough handling will lead to tears no matter what the brand. I recommend keeping the tip reversed to protect the point when not in use, or keeping track of the little plastic tube that protects the tip in shipment and replacing it between uses. I expect the pair of these to last me a long time. They make nice clean scribe marks that are a balanced "V" shape, unlike the "one-sided-V" scribe marks made by my height gage. The balanced scribe marks make locating a prick punch much easier and more reliable for centering a hole, which is mostly what I use these for.

I like this scribe

I'm going to school to be a machinist. I like this scribe. It seems to etch alright for putting my name on tools that are not hardened steel. I've tried using it to mark my workpiece but it's not easy to see. I'm sure that I'm missing something. I like that the point locks in and is reversible to avoid it going inside me. That being said, I carry it inside my sleeve pocket to avoid it in my chest.

Very sharp!

This product is a lot finer than I'd anticipated. It will come in handy in the future. Very sharp. Seems like it's made specifically for marking very hard surfaces. I'm using it on a wood plank and I don't need or want such precision right now and it isn't serving a purpose yet. The strange thing is that I'm glad I bought this two piece set. Makes me want to find a use for it. This would even work for a mechanic.

Works for me, low volume use.

My use it very low volume. For me it works quite well. Once opened, the packaging sucks for storage (at this price point, this is OK). So plan on needing a place to store.
