Vega: * Pros: Vegan/ soy free/ gluten free, extra supplemented vitamins/ minerals, ‘green powder blend’ for extra nutrition, 4 grams fiber * Cons: Chalky, chocolate flavor is a miss, difficult aftertaste Evolve: * Pros: Vegan/ soy free/ gluten free, 10 grams fiber, great chocolatey taste, smooth * Cons: less supplemented vitamins/ minerals The background: In the last month I found myself needing to go on a very restricted diet (nut/ dairy/ soy/ wheat free) as I worked through what my nursing baby was sensitive to. Not being able to have my regular premixed whey protein shake to turn to on busy mornings was rough, so I set out on trying to find a suitable replacement. SO many people recommended Vega, so I started there. Chocolate is always my flavor of choice, vanilla flavored anything isn’t really my jam. Long story short- they were tolerable. I could drink them if I had to.... but found myself opting to just be hungry and eat an early lunch rather than grab one (which completely defeated the purpose for me). The texture was chalky, the chocolate flavor didn’t quite taste chocolatey, and I always had to follow it with gum because the lingering aftertaste wasn’t great. It checked all of my required boxes, but I was looking for something more than that. I decided I’d try something else in spite of the fact that Vega got good reviews and many people seemed to be settling with ‘Vegan protein just isn’t that good.’ Evolve was my next trial- and though I planned on sampling several others in order to give a thoroughly rounded review, I decided to stop with Evolve. Why? Because it’s actually good! The chocolate flavor is rich and chocolatey, the texture is super smooth, and it’s still Vegan + soy/ gluten free. I’m compromising in pretty much all areas of my diet right now, but this doesn’t feel like a compromise and I’m thrilled to have found something that meets all of my current requirements and is enjoyable to drink. The only real thing it’s missing is the extra vitamins/ minerals that Vega has, but I’m happy to just continue eating well and taking a multivitamin rather than relying on my protein shake to supplement in that area.

best pre-made vegan protein drink ever!

this is the best pre-made protein drink i have ever tried! i don't like their other flavors as much, but this one has ZERO fat which is important to my macros! i highly recommend!!

Vegan is impressed

I drank these drinks when I had gum surgery and when I got my wisdom teeth taken out- low sugar, high protein and a great taste (either chilled or room temperature). Doesn't have that gross grainy taste that some shakes have 10/10 from this vegan.

Classic Chocolate Is My Go-To!

This is my favorite meal shake so far. The Classic Chocolate is the way to go! It's delicious and I like the nutrition and ingredients label! I have this for breakfast because I'm lazy and it's cheaper and healthier than coffee and a bagel/donut/muffin/etc. for breakfast. I will definitely reorder. I did try their Toasted Almond and Mellow Mocha flavors after this purchase, and I will NOT buy either of those again. Not a fan of either of those flavors at all! If I had tried either of them first, I NEVER would have tried the Classic Chocolate! I'm glad I bought that one first!

Wish I would have read reviews before buying these. They definitely have a "cough syrup" after-taste. They aren't unbearable but it sure isn't very enjoyable to drink. I'm sure I will get used to the taste after drinking the whole case but my first one has been sort of a let down. Update: after drinking one of these per day for a few weeks, they are a lot easier to get down than any other vegan ones I've tried. They are WAY better out of the fridge than room temp. They definitely get protein in me! I've tried a few other brands since buying these and I'm convinced that these are the best tasting. Muscle milk is the only brand that came close.

I bought these for myself they used to be in walmart and cheaper not sure why they left. I got chocolate and vanilla and they are good very filling and I use as meal replacement or in my coffee as creamer. My son works out and likes them for extra protein. He said he loves them and his favorite is vanilla.

I like it better than pure chocolate Evolve!!

I'm not a big coffee drinker, and quite honestly, thought I was ordering chocolate. However, this flavor is described as "Mellow Mocha" - and, it is! It's not overly coffee-tasting, but a mild flavor. I'd highly recommend it. For a tea drinker, that's saying something!

Great drink, but does not taste like Mocha

So I'm venturing to find the best vegan protein drink that there is to offer (at a reasonable price) and this is the best one I've found thus far. The chocolate has a very smooth and light taste. Tastes very "clean" to me, if that makes any sense. It almost has some sort of "green/grassy" flavor alongside it. I'm sure that might turn people off from trying this drink but personally I find it quite pleasant. However I didn't notice that "green" taste in the Mocha flavored. I would describe the taste as a basic chocolate flavor, not quite as good as their actual chocolate flavor but still enjoyable enough to finish off what I purchased. I would recommend giving this product a try. I can definitely say it is much better than the Vega bottled drinks. Those are SUPER grainy and make me feel like I'm just drinking down a bunch of powder. These Evolve drinks are completely smooth & tasty, so I'll definitely buy more in the future.

Love this product!

As a vegan who often works out and is on a diet this is a lifesaver. I can get decent tasting protein (20 grams for only 150 calories) on the go. The protein to calorie ratio is great, the bottle is light and easy to take on the go and has been a lifesaver for me when I'm trying to get quick protein but don't have time to make a shake at home. Started with the toasted almond and getting the chocolate next. This is a low cal protein drink- it does not taste like a 5 star dessert- but is definitely much better than I expected. Creamy- not chalkiness.
