I have a good password to unlock the computer when I return
I use a Lenovo Yoga to DJ 3 nights a week at a bar. Started getting in the habit of locking the computer with the Windows+L button when I walk away, to prevent customers from messing with the music and changing songs. I have a good password to unlock the computer when I return, but there are times towards the end of the night I realize how much of a pain it is to enter the password. Bought this reader, and it was super easy to install, and scan in the prints. As weird as this sounds, I used my middle finger to set it up, just due to the location of the USB port. It works awesome!! Didn't know I could do something like this until recently, otherwise I'd have bought one a long time ago. Worth the $15 vs one of the super expensive ones. And with the shape, it's perfect for a side USB port on a laptop. I would recommend to anyone who wants to simplify the login.

Just what it says on the tin.
Very easy to install and use. My Lenovo PC + Windows 10 accepted it right away and now I just slide my thumb across and it logs me on. Just what I wanted.

Works well on my Thinkpad E351 & Win 7
Made for Win 8.1 or 10 but Lenovo has software that will allow it to work with Win 7. Be sure you can get software to make it work if you are still using Win 7. Keeps me from constantly entering logon password on my laptop which has a short fuse to lock for security in an office or home environment. The Lenovo app only works on Thinkpads and mine is an E351. Make sure you set it up for more than one finger in case that finger gets cut off :)

what a bargain for good fingerprint readers
I'm really impressed with how well these fingerprint readers are working. They are so easy to install on windows 10 and don't need to load any drivers or software. I have been using these for almost a month and have not had any problems. The price is almost half of what the other identical looking brand sells them for, and this seller sells them in packs of 2. I'm definitely going to buy some more so I can have one on all my pc's, laptops, notebooks, and windows tablets.

Works with Linux, running Ubuntu 18.04
Here's how to make it work with Ubuntu 18.04: First of all, make sure that your fingerprint reader is recognized. These typically show up as USB devices. Run lsusb $ lsusb Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub ... Bus 001 Device 009: ID 0483:2016 STMicroelectronics Fingerprint Reader ... Bus 001 Device 002: ID 058f:6366 Alcor Micro Corp. Multi Flash Reader Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub You can see that my system detects my attached fingerprint reader as an STMicroelectronics Fingerprint Reader. From here all I need to do is install some programs and modify a configuration file. Install the applications needed. sudo apt install -y fprintd libpam-fprintd Once install finishes, open /etc/pam.d/common-auth for editing (sudo nano /etc/pam.d/common-auth). Find the line (line 17 on my system) that reads auth [success=1 default=ignore] pam_unix.so nullok_secure and modify the file adding the line shown below in bold. Make sure the order of these lines is the same as shown here. auth [success=2 default=ignore] pam_fprintd.so max_tries=1 timeout=10 auth [success=1 default=ignore] pam_unix.so nullok_secure Save the file (Ctrl+Shift+X, Y, Enter). Finally, enroll your fingerprint with the following command fprintd-enroll $USER After running the command, swipe your finger across the reader 3 times to enroll your fingerprint. That's all there is to it. You should now be able to use your fingerprint reader to log in or to authenticate (for things like installations) post-login.

Works great 👍
Works great, make sure to let windows search the web for the drivers, it took only a few minutes to find them but after that initial install I've had no problems

Great Customer Service by Cogitable Solutions LLC!!!
I bought multiples of these fingerprint readers, for both home and the office! After a few months, one stopped working, so I contacted the seller Cogitable Solutions LLC! Tom, was very understanding and quickly sent a replacement fingerprint reader out to me! I would highly recommend this product, and highly recommend Cogitable Solutions LLC for standing behind the products that they sell 100%!!!

Sweet! And inespensive. Buy it!
Low cost fingerprint reader for Windows 10 enables me to login with one finger. Good for security. Just plug it into a USB port within reach and it installs automatically. Then use Windows login settings to set up "Hello". Add a PIN first, then do your fingerprints. Log out and then select to log back in with your fingerprint. Buy one for every computer not having a fingerprint reader.
