This is just what it looks like, a piece that sticks to your case with stretchable material on top. The Apple Pencil (or another pen or pencil) fits perfectly. As long as you can find a big enough flat space on the outside of your case, it works great. It looks like they took the same holder that sticks to their case and packaged it separate. I had often looked at their case for that reason, now I can save some money and use the case I already own. I cannot speak to durability as I just got it. I am concerned the end where the point is at could eventually give out. The one thing you wil find is that your iPad no longer lays flat with the case folded over and the pencil inside. Simple enough, just remove the pencil while working in that position. My magnetic closure no longer fits quite as well as before but it doesn’t bother me.

This was such a good purchase. I stick it on my iPad cover (I got the ProCase, here: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B071VZZNLB/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2), on the segment that is closest to the opening side (not the "hinge"). It makes it the most easily accessible to me, and is convenient when I do the tri-fold to prop up the iPad because it doesn't get in the way. Mostly, I like that I don't have to have a whole separate carrier just for my Pencil. I like that it's basically attached to my iPad. The adhesive sticks really firmly, and the sleeve itself is made of a really soft stretchy material. It's a bit thin, but I doubt you'll be roughly throwing your iPad around that'll wear down that fabric. Plus, since there are no sharp edges on the Apple Pencil, it doesn't pull or tear at that fabric. The only remotely inconvenient thing about this is if you have your Pencil in and you want to fold your iPad cover back (so it's like a spiral-bound notebook that you've opened and folded back), the Pencil will keep it from being totally flat. I don't find this that inconvenient, but it's something to be aware of.

I ordered this about 6 months ago and haven't had any issues with it. I have it attached to the top of a generic folding iPad case (3 "sections"). I applied it to the far right section and it stays comfortably out of the way, even when it's folded completely back with the Pencil inside. if I'm holding the iPad with my left hand, the Pencil section sags off a little bit, but it's no different than if the holder wasn't there in the first place. If I'm holding it with my right hand, I can still hold the iPad securely and comfortably. When folded for stand mode, it's as if the pencil/holder wasn't there in the first place. I've had no issues with discoloration or loose adhesive. The elastic material holding the pencil in place could probably be torn if you're too rough with it (or if it gets snagged on something sharp), but that can be avoided with general care. I've been sliding my iPad in and out of a small messenger bag for storage and haven't noticed any damage. Overall, I'm very happy with this product.

Perfect for my iPad Pro. I placed it in the center of my iPad's cover, so that it doesn't interfere with the placement when I use the cover as a stand.

I use this with an Apple Pencil, and accessories on it. The accessories are a magnetic sleeve, the pencil tip and end cap. I was worried about this being too tight with the accessories on it. However, it first comfortably and here’s why: The material is thin spandex backed with a strong durable leather. It fits snug yet, it’s easy remove and put back. When ever my pencil is not in use, it stays in this holder. Also, I sleep with my iPad so, it says a lot about how much I use this holder. I hope this helps!

I’ve tried a few different cases, some with Apple pencil holders but in the end I've preferred a simple TPU case (which had no Apple pencil holder)... I ended up using a pencil loop to attach the pencil to the case, first trying it alongside the case but finally settling on placing it on the back, The problem with the loop is it because, well loose over time and the pencil would rattle. I eventually switched to two loops which stopped the rattling, but just just didn't seem all that great. I bought this as a possible alternative to the loops, and am quite happy with the result. If it remains durable over time, it should be perfect.

I'm a minimalist and don't want extra bulk or pieces sticking out on my iPad so many of the Apple Pencil holders are out of the question. But this is it. Easy to apply & then easy to use with the elastic-mesh casing with hard backing. So easy to insert pencil and remove it, yet secure enough so it never falls out! I have attached it to my black keyboard case for my new iPad and it is sleek and blends in and lays flat when I am using my pencil or folding the case back to lay my iPad flat. It's perfect for what I wanted. LOOOVE it!

I expected this thing to not stick to my iPad cover that well and expected that getting the pencil in would be a bit of a hassle. I am pleased to say that I was wrong and this exceeds my expectations. I have it stuck to the back of a TPU soft plastic cover. I cleaned the cover with a wet paper towel and thoroughly dried it. Then I peeled the tape backing on the pencil holder and positioned it about a quarter-inch in from the right edge of the iPad cover's back (so it's on the right back when holding the iPad upright). After making sure the holder was secured properly to the iPad cover, I took the cover off, placed it face down over a scrap piece of 2x4, and used a J-roller (a rubber wheel with a J-shaped handle, designed to press veneer counter tops) to press the pencil holder into the cover. It has held onto the cover incredibly well and doesn't look like it will peel off any time soon. The sleeve itself is made of a semi-rigid back (almost like the rim of a baseball cap) with a Spandex-like pocket that is very stretchy. The backing has an indented groove that makes it very easy to guide the tip into the sleeve. I can insert the pencil into the back of the iPad without looking. Because of where I placed the sleeve, it actually helps with holding the iPad (kind of like a handle). Also, when the iPad is laying flat, it acts as a small kickstand to tilt it up just a tiny bit, making it easier to use the iPad. Of course, if you want it to lie more flat, simply pull the pencil out of the sleeve. Overall, I am very pleased with this product.

This is a great accessory for any heavy pen user. I use the iPad pro for art purposes and so I always carry the pencil. Since Apple so graciously left out a strong magnet in this penil/iPad it's up to us to find a way to keep it close. I stuck this pouch on the keyboard case and it's been great so far. It is very low profile and doesn't mess with with the functionality of the case at all. My only only concern is how long it will hold up over time. I will update my review if anything should happen.

I purchased a couple of these and really have been impressed. Seems like they really use quality materials. I even removed one of those from the front of an Apple Smart Cover and it did no damage at all!
