🎶Amazing!🎶
Ok.... if you are a coloring enthusiast and you like soft, creamy pencils, you MUST order these now! I am blown away! Rich saturation of color, the blend beautifully! I tested them with a blender pencil, blender marker and mineral spirits. All worked really well! I would have been completely happy paying the $39.99! At $17.99, you do not want to miss this!!!!

Very creamy and soft
I love drawing and coloring and am an admitted art supply hoarder, if I see a new art product come out and the price is reasonable I purchase it. After seeing these I decided I would give them a try. The pencils are stored in a nice metal tin and have 3 layers total of pencils. The sorting of these are a bit strange, not like other pencils which go by hue, so I did resort them according to hue. The barrels are round and have a nice black coating and on the end of each pencil is a color indicator, the ends of the pencils are rounded so you are unable to tell if the leads are straight or not. The cores are fairly thick but not as think as the more popular Prisma's are. Leads are pre-sharpened and these sharpen easily with a quality sharpener. The color on the pencil is not nearly close to the color of the actual lead, some are, but most are either darker or lighter, I suggest you do make a swatch sheet. Because these have no number or color indicated on them I did number them myself after sorting and marked them with a permanent marker. The leads are very soft and creamy as others indicated, they do lay down color quite well and are vibrant. The only colors which are not are a few of the yellows. There's also a very nice array of colors in each spectrum. This set is very similar set also found on Amazon in terms of lay down, color and storage but it does have the exact same hues or colors the Colore' set does not so they compliment each other really well. These blend really well together and with other pencils that are decent wax based pencils on both smooth paper and paper that has a bit of tooth to it. You will find on paper with tooth there will be white gaps, this is normal in general and if you layer additional colors on top or blend with an alcohol blender or odorless mineral spirits you easily fill in the gaps. The biggest issue, other than lack of color number or name, with these pencils is that they do have significant blooming, the colors look shiny, after you add a few layers or blend them with an alcohol blender, this is par on course for many soft wax based pencils. These pencils are great for general coloring and budding pencil artists. It doesn't appear they were tested for lightfastness so it is difficult to determine how they will hold up over time, it takes about 6 months for an actual test. For the price these are a really nice starter set for budding artists or for individuals who enjoy coloring.

Very nice, creamy pencils
I'm no color pencil snob, as i've just recently "gotten into" adult coloring books. My first set was the standard Crayola pencils, which are ok and reasonably priced. I was browsing Amazon and that's how I learned about the "creamy" coloring pencils (Prismacolor, Castle Art, Faber, etc). I chose the Castle Art set and ordered. While waiting for my order to arrive, I went to a Michael's (craft store here in Houston) where they have pencils you can try in the store. I tried Prismacolor, and the creaminess and vivid application blew me away. The coloring process automatically became 10x more satisfying and relaxing. I was actually kind of excited to have my pencils arrive, but at the same time I was thinking "if Castle Art isn't creamy i'll be so disappointed". Castle Art came through. These pencils are soft and creamy and lay down color really nicely. I use a pencil sharpener I got from the dollar store and it works just fine. I was then browsing around on eBay and saw a set of Prismacolor for a great price so I ordered those to do a comparison. I actually like the Castle Art pencils more. The Prismacolor pencils are soft, but almost too soft. I'm constantly blowing on my picture all the time to remove the excess pencil "dust". Also, when I sharpen, I have to be careful, or the lead will be too sharp and break off. It's like the wood isn't as strong as the wood that encases the lead on the Castle Art pencils. To be fair, the Prismacolor yellows are more vibrant than Castle Art, but that's only with a couple of yellows. Also, I do have a Castle Art pencil that, no matter how carefully I sharpen, breaks off underneath the wood (Color # 016). Other than that, I would purchase Castle Art pencils again. A great set at a reasonable price. (When I bought this 72 pencil set a month ago it was $24.99, not sure if it's increased due to Christmas, etc) but a great set either way.

Luscious Pencils
These Castle Art colored pencils are every bit as good as the Prismacolor Premier soft core colored pencils. They go on very smooth, layer beautifully and are pretty sturdy. They work well on many surfaces, including paper with lots of tooth or paper that is very smooth, as well as wood, metal and other hard surfaces. I'll buy these again for myself and I will also give sets as gifts for my favorite fellow colorists! The only improvement I would personally suggest is that each pencil be marked with names of the colors OR with a unique number. I realize these pencils are sold in sets only, but it would make it easier to go back to a project if I could write down the name/number of each pencil I used in the beginning. If you're ready to move on from the least expensive pencil sets to higher quality pencils, these are a great pencil to go with and you don't have to break the bank for an artist-quality set! Good for expert artists and even children moving from crayons to colored pencils and everyone in between!

The price was so good I couldn't pass them up even though I have ...
I bought these on sale. The price was so good I couldn't pass them up even though I have a lot of pencils already. I'm so glad I did, for the price they're worth every penny. They're bright and lay down soft. I don't need to press hard or layer to get a good vibrant color. There's great color choices and come in a nice tin box for safe keeping. The only complaint I have is the colors have no names or numbers so there's no way to make note of which color you used. Other than that they're worth purchasing. I don't believe you will be disappointed. Oh, they're customer service is outstanding.

Give yourself a chance to love these pencils
I’ve been using these pencils for about 4 months, and think they are terrific. Some of the features of these pencils I really appreciate: * comfortable, easy to hold, soft matte, black wood casing (and they look great too!) * core moves smoothly on the paper, releasing a nice amount of color but not laying down too much product (some other pencils feel like crayons) * tips stay sharp, and can easily get into tiny details * never any issues with breakage during sharpening or use * no crumbling or debris * nice distribution of colors: 11 yellows, 8 oranges, 5 reds, 5 pinks, 9 purples, 10 blues, 15 greens, 3 browns, 4 grays, 1 black, 1 white * extremely responsive company 👍🏻 I choose to use these pencils over every other brand I have tried, even the high-end ones, because they have all the features I want. I like this company, how they are available and responsive to their customers and use our feedback to improve their product. If you are reading this then you are likely in the market for colored pencils - just go ahead and hit “Add to Cart” and for less than $25 you can see for yourself how great these are : - ) ~ from a coloring fan

Castle Art coloring pencils are great for all artist and non-artist like me
I have four brands of pencils and Prismacolor is my #1 brand and Castle Art pencils are my #2. The colors are great and they look good and I love the way they blend. You don't have to press hard on them and you don't have to look for the pencil sharperner right away..Plus your hand doesn't tired so fast in coloring because you don't have to use a lot of pressure when coloring. What's great about them is that you can actually control the intensity of the pencil by building the color up to where you want it to be.And they blend in every direction beautifully. Being a little less creamy than Prismacolor coloring pencils makes it easier to blend. And you can mix the two brands for different effects depending on your coloring taste. I just love the look and feel of the coloring pencil on all the different types of coloring books that I have; and I have a lot. I am new to coloring and I am reading 4 books on coloring and coloring supplies and more importantly the different types of paper and tools used. I like using coloring pencils and gel pens and gelly roll pens. When I color I feel like an artist ( can't draw ) but can color. Great for all ages.

Castle Art supplies set of 72 colored pencils
I am by no means an artist, but I love to color as it helps me with anxiety issues. I am always looking for more color variety because I color a lot of nature scenes and i never seem to have enough different greens and browns. This set is fantastic. The pencils are sturdy in the hand and feel quite high quality. They come in a tin with 3 trays that the pencils sit nicely in. The trays are a bit difficult to pull out of the tin itself, and I have had to slightly bend the tin to pull them out but it does seem to go right back in place once you close them back up. Hopefully over time this doesn't cause the tin to be damaged beyond use, but for now it works fine for me. These pencils lay down wonderfully! They blend very easily and are vibrant and rich in pigmentation. I have found myself reaching for these over my prismacolor premieres on more than one occasion. While I love my prismas, these pencils color almost as well without needing to sharpen them as frequently. Sharpening is easy with any standard sharpener and I haven't had any issues with core breakage. The biggest downfall for me is that they are not numbered or named and the colored ends are not always true to color. I usually keep a scrap paper near me while I color to double check the color before I use it. I would recommend these pencils to anyone who loves to color or anyone who is looking to learn new techniques and doesn't want to spend a ton of money on a good sized set. Overall a great addition to any colored pencil junkie's collection.

Better than Prisma
In my personal opinion these are the best pencils I have ever purchased, and believe me I have purchased many. They go on so smoothly almost like butter and the colors are just so vivid. I am currently working on a picture with the pencils and will post it when done. I believe these are better than the set I paid 100.00 for which is the Prisma Priemer 150 count. I sure wish they had a larger set of these, because I would definetly buy them. Will continue only purchasing these pencils from now on. Next, I need to find out if they make markers.

Wonderful pencils
Soooo happy with these!!! Ive read reviews for past brands stating "goes on like butter" never experienced it till these! Id compare them with my Dewent coloursoft!! Very vibrant colors. Mine came perfect in its tin. I received an email from the company reminding me of the lifetime guarantee if anything was unsatisfactory. Yes, the price is going up, but buy it now!!!
