Crazy how well this thing works. After using it for a bit I had to show it off to my son in law. I brought him back to my workstation and said check this out the smoke just disappears. Literally the smoke is all sucked in and nothing comes out the exhaust side. Works incredibly good. Buy it you won't be disappointed. I also bought bulk activated charcoal filter material so I can cut my own filters. For ten dollars you can make like 40 filters.

Works as expected and not too loud. Seems like good quality for the price. I was a little concerned with how thin the carbon/foam filter is but it seems to be working. However, the unit came with 1 filter installed and 1 extra so I went ahead and stacked both inside. It works better than just 1 and doesn't seem to affect the fan suction much if at all.

I bought this to save my health since I do a lot of soldering and do not use lead free solder (doesn't work as good). For the price you can't beat it. It is well built and the fan is very powerful and has no problem at all sucking up solder fumes even from a foot away. I should have purchased this much earlier.

Works well for venting the area but is quite noisy.

This is great if you are doing infrequent soldering. If you are soldering all day long I'm afraid you are going to be dizzy at the end of the day with with fan. It works very well as long as you are soldering within maybe 4 inches of the fan. Once it moves out of that range it does no good. I do a moderate amount of soldering. I actually bought 2 of these. One to place right in front of where I am soldering and the other I place right next to my soldering iron stand to catch the remaining smoke that comes off after I resolder the tip before placing the handle back in the stand. Like I said it is good for the price. It is no $500 filtration system but it is better than nothing. I would wear a activated carbon mask and have good ventilation if you are going to be doing a lot of soldering with these fans as your only filtration.

This thing sucks solder fumes from 12" away!! Although that was just for testing. Best results anywhere from 6" to closer. The filter is about 1/4" thick ( I did not measure) and seems to work well. I am not sure if the 1.8" version has a thinner filter or not. I bought the 2" version because of the CFM rating and 32w. The 1.8" version is rated for 30w and less cfm. I am very happy with this purchase. It is not super loud either. The handle makes it easy to move it around as well. Has on/off with on the cord. Also, this unit sucks the smoke in the filter side of the fan which is better than the smoke passing through the motor first and being exhausted out of the filter. I am going to guess that it is much better on the motor not to have the smoke passing through it.......Great product.

I love this thing! It does a good job for the size of the unit. Everything else relatively similar online was either way too weak, way too large, or way too expensive. This hits the sweet spot for hobby soldering.

Excellent product. Does was it is supposed to do. I use this to extract the fumes while soldering. Smoke goes in -- none comes out. It seems to work even at 12 inches away. Impressed with its power. Noisy though but I don't care.

I have been soldering projects since 1995, i just had a fan blowing smoke away, it worked but annoying. I bought this and should of done it years and years ago. This is one of the better purchases i have made. If you do a lot of soldering get this.......period.

Not sure how much smoke is actually being absorbed but I do notice less smell while soldering. I think it's sufficient for hobby usage. Very powerful little fan for the price.
