I did not expect to like this thing that much. It is amazing. Looks real when on, gives off a moderate amount of heat, and was easy to install. Don’t forget to add ventilation room to the bottom when installing. The sound effects are cheesy and more of a comedic feature than anything else.

This is a realistic looking fireplace for the money. I wanted something that looked as close to real as possible and that had heating capacity. And this has met my expectations. We were building a house and were given the options, gas fireplace, over $2000 for chimney and flue or an electric for $900. I went to Amazon to read reviews and this is what I decided to get for about $310. I bought it and put it on the pole barn and had the builder make the proper size hole in the fireplace opening. The electrician put a 110 volt plug inside the fireplace opening with a switch outside. I have to say it is well packaged in Styrofoam because the box was banged around a bit in the pole barn with all our other stored home goods. After the false stone was finished, I plugged it in, pushed the fireplace into the hole and turned it on, it was that easy, less than 2 minutes. It has a variety of color settings and light intensity settings, I find that the standard setting looks the most realistic. It also has a 1500 watt heater that blows air out the top of the fireplace. It does offer some heat but don't expect it to heat a large room, maybe a small room. If you think this looks exactly like a real flame you are wrong. But if you want something that looks as close to the real thing as possible, this is it. And what is nice about this is that you can have it on and not have the heat on so you can use this all year round.

Love this fireplace so much. Beautiful and works right out of the box...Judy plug in and enjoy. Highly recommend, my friends.

Very nice look and measurements were exactly as described. My remote control unfortunately was damaged and contact customer service right away. They responded within a few hours and after short discussion and proof of purchase a new remote control will be sent out right away. The heater works really well. I have only used the low setting which has been more than sufficient as of yet. The only negative would be the speaker for the sound of crackling firewood which is too loud and the volume is uncontrollable. I highly recommend this fireplace.

I like it. The loggs seem so real when turned on. Flames are a little fake but they are fake what do you expect. The speaker not working on mine but I'm ok with that. Heat works ok but I didn't buy for the heat, more for looks.

This product perfectly fit on my fireplace opening . It is intead a beautiful product and will cherish it.

ETA: I contacted the vendor's support, and they sent out a new remote. I transferred the batteries from the first one to the new one. It worked for the first three commands, then the same thing as before. An idea struck, and I got brand new batteries from MY stock. Instant fully working remote. The "new" batteries they shipped with the original remote were bad right out of the wrapper. Still, I've added a star to my original rating as I'm satisfied with their response and don't feel that a couple of defective AAA batteries is worth a star. I had looked into adding gas logs to the fireplace in the house we just bought and moved into. To get a nice set with a remote looked like $350, with another $350 to get an HVAC company to run and hook up a gas line. So being no expert on the subject, I wondered if there were fake electric logs with fake flames. Yes, there are. Two hours later I had narrowed my my options down to three products, and finally decided on this one for features, fit, and look. So now I have it installed. The fireplace is in my living room, rather than the den, so we spent an evening with our Kindles (I should get brownie points, Amazon!), sitting on our living room sofa with our dogs calmly laying respectively at our sides and feet. We enjoyed it. The sound effect is realistic -- we had many REAL fires in the fireplace at our previous home. I could wish the fake ember logs rose more vertically, but they're OK, and the ambience is similar to sitting in front of a real fire. I did use the heater, but THAT is NOT like sitting in front of a real fire. It doesn't produce nearly as much heat as a real fire does, which in some cases could be good depending on how close you like to sit to the fire! But I bought this for the effect, not the heat, so I'm not knocking it on that account. I dock a star because the remote control included with this unit is useless. Possibly it's a dud and others work better, but this one only sends a signal occasionally, and sometimes the buttons, when they actually DO something, actuate the function of a neighboring button, instead of the thing you wanted it to do. This suggests to me that the circuit board is improperly positioned beneath the buttons. I'm writing this on a Saturday, and first used it late on a Friday night, so I'll contact the company Monday and see if they'll ship out a new remote control. Installation was easy. First, to unbox any large product, my trick is to open the top of the box, then rotate the box upside down, and simply pull it up off of the product. That works great for other things like TVs, printers, mini-tower computers, and some larger kitchen appliances, too. That done, I removed the styrofoam and the plastic, and righted the fireplace unit. There are convenient handle insets on each side, and it isn't all that heavy after unpacking, so I then just carried it to the fireplace and set it in the opening. For the fit, my fireplace opening is a bit taller then this unit, so I'll craft a filler to plug that space, but really it's OK as it is. The power cord comes off the right side, and my most convenient outlet for this is left of the fireplace. I ran the power cord behind the unit to the left, and it was long enough to reach a power strip I stretched from the outlet to left of the hearth. I was glad I didn't need an additional extension cord to complete the hook up. From slicing open the packing tape with my case knife to seeing simulated flames was less than five minutes, and I wasn't hurrying. You do need to switch it on at the product first. Otherwise the Off/On on the remote can't help you (and as I mentioned, only rarely worked for me anyway). Luckily, complete controls for the product's option are included in a panel on the upper right corner of the unit. So yes, this is a bit of accomodation compared to a "real fire", but I'm going to like it just fine. Compared to buying cords of firewood, this will pay for itself. We won't use it more than occasionally, so even with running the heater we won't add much to the electric bill. Therefore I can recommend this product with the qualifications I've included in the review.

Really pleased with this fireplace. The first one arrived damaged by the courrier. Amazon were amazing with an easy free return. The second one arrived in perfect condition. The speaker is a little too artificial, but on the whole it is great for the cost.

This arrived today, so my rating may be updated later. So far, so good. I read tons of reviews and chose this because the dimensions were a 1/4" shy on each side of my actual opening and it had a btu rating of 5100. We have a 1966 wood burning fireplace that we've used once in 4 years, and not successfully. It's just not efficient or warm. The room is about 600 sq ft and has radiant floor heat, in a concrete slab, which is great to take the chill off but not enough to really warm the room. I wanted something that used the existing fireplace to assist the radiant heat and would make the room warm enough for a few hours in the evening after work. The crackle sound isn't very realistic but can be turned off. The fan blower is quiet. The internal thermostat went from 57 to 65 in about an hour on blower setting high. The room air felt warmer and stayed warm after turning it off. The power button door is sturdy and easy to open. The remote is a nice touch but you have to turn it on and off at the insert, so not really needed. It appears well built and looks nice. It fit my 36x27 opening perfectly. I love the black power cord. I like it better without the ambient light feature on. It looks more realistic. I wish it were a little deeper than 9". It would let the logs sit back from the glass a little more. I also wish the faux brick on the inside also covered the back where the flame screen is. Overall it looks nice and fills out my unused fireplace nicely. Time will tell if it's reliable, but overall a great price for a secondary heat source that makes t.v. watching more comfortable.

I carefully measured my fireplace opening and still missed it by about 1/8 inch on the top. It wouldn't fit into the firebox. I had to hire a handiman, at $200, to dig out the tile on my hearth in order to get it in. But, that's not Vlaluxhome's problem, it's mine. And one I am used to. Nothing fits in my house. Everything I install has to be custom fit as it was built in the 1960's. My question - Why don't mason build all fireboxes the same size? But, once it was installed, it's absolutely perfect. The fire looks realistic, the heater works great, and most important my wife loves it. She doesn't like the sound effects as it annoys her while watching TV.. But now she's sent me on a mission to find a similar device to fit the living room fireplace. I'll be more careful in my measurements for the next one. You be as well. One would think that the fireplace insert suppliers would make trim kits for every model they sell, but they don't! But I love this thing and highly recommend it.
