I found this safe after seeing it on Hickok45's YouTube channel looking for quick access safes because we have an 8 month old daughter now who is starting to crawl and attempting to stand on her own and we can't just leave our firearms out any longer. Originally I was considering the SpeedVault Biometric but then I saw this one which isn't bulky and heavy and doesn't have to be fastened to something like the SpeedVault. One feature immediately different is that the Vaultek Biometric safe also has a keypad, Bluetooth, and keyed entry where the SpeedVault and many others drop one of those options when you go biometric. It was important to have another option other than just the finger print reader in case it were to fail in an emergency so this fit the bill. It also allows you to store up to two administrators and I believe 20 other individuals in the safe finger print memory. I like that it is almost silent when opening where others make a loud clank, I love the inside LED light feature and the brightness can be adjusted by using the Vaultek Android/Apple app along with opening the safe, having tamper alerts, fingerprint management, a complete history log, and a battery indicator all via Bluetooth from the unit. The unit itself still has ways to show most of these but it's nice having the app on the phone. I bought the black unit because it will blend in well almost anywhere but they also offer white and camouflage and some others. The safe comes with everything you need including the lithium ion battery and charger/cable that plugs into the side of the unit, mounting screws, security cable, screwdriver, etc. Since my intention in purchasing a quick access vault/safe is not only to have it accessible quickly but also to prevent our daughter or anyone else who's normally in the home from playing with what's inside, this is the best by far that I have found on the market. I have nothing negative to say about the unit at this time, even the packaging and presentation was nice. So, if you want a travel safe, quick access safe, and something to generally keep guns or other smaller items locked up but accessible I'd highly recommend this unit. If you are just leaving your guns sitting around the house or on or in your nightstand this is what you need. VAULTEK VT20i Biometric Handgun Safe Bluetooth Smart Pistol Safe with Auto-Open Lid and Rechargeable Battery

Awesome product, super pleased with it! I scoured the internet looking for just the right pistol safe to keep my Glock 19 quickly accessible and locked away safely from children. Every time I found a safe that I thought was the winner, I'd find a video on YouTube of someone easily picking it with a paperclip, zip tie, or even just picking it up and dropping it down only a few inches off the floor and it popped open. The Vaultek VT20i is literally the ONLY pistol safe I could find that didn't have some sketchy flaw about it that made it unsafe. And let's be real people, if you can find a video in 30 seconds about how to pick a safe, so can your kids. The only video I found of someone breaking into this one was a grown man with a heavy duty wedge and sledge hammer who pried it open, but it took him nearly 10 minutes of serious pounding. That's just about as good as you can get I think. Very happy with this product, the battery is holding a full charge after I initially charged it and it's already been almost 2 months, the fingerprint reader is totally accurate, no false positives yet and the only times it hasn't read my fingerprint was when I held my finger totally wonky on purpose to see how I had to place it on the reader for an accurate read. My only complaint is regarding the app. I downloaded it and played with it, but ultimately deleted it because I didn't feel that it was secure enough. Once you put your password in, it takes awhile for the app to re-lock which to me makes it a risk. I wish it would lock immediately so I could then hand my son my phone to play with his apps without worry that he could pop open my gun safe through the app. Also, they have it set up with a pattern lock system which I really don't like. I would much prefer just to use the same numeric code I used on the safe itself. It would be one less thing to remember, and also every time I came up with a pattern that felt memorable to me, I felt like someone could easily guess it. Any kind of pattern that makes any sense, like a star or a square, would be easily hackable. The only solution is to make a totally random pattern but that feels difficult for me to remember. Again, I'd rather just use my numeric code that I programmed into the safe. But again, app aside, the safe itself is amazing and still has three different ways to access it without the app. Hoping Vaultek improves the app at some point but until then, I'll just pretend like it isn't there and enjoy the heck out of this awesome safe!

Great safe and easy to set up. I like that it has adult rechargeable battery (battery and cable included), long battery life (standby up to 6 months), easy setup, multiple ways to enter safe (should one method fail), BLUETOOTH (yeah, there's an App for that!), and updated safety features. Presentation/boxing alone was impressive and Vaultek customer service reached out to ensure my satisfaction a couple days after I received it. Buying another for the upstairs!

At first I bought the SentrySafe...it was cheaper and had decent reviews. But the battery life was a concern. I thought, this is one item you don't want to cut corners on. So, I bought the Vaultek 20i. All I can say is "Wow!" Big difference. Well worth the extra spend. I have absolutely zero complaints thus far. It's exceeded my expectations. The rechargeable battery is a huge deal. The programming of the code/fingerprints were flawless. The mobile app...icing on the cake. It has some great features like a log/tampering detection. That's just so cool. Other extras: the lights outside and inside. These dudes thought of everything. It's not very big inside. It's got enough space for your piece and an extra clip or so...but that's all I need for my bedside arm. Highly recommend.

After buying GunVault brand safes for years (have about 6) I decided to give this one a try due to the good feedback. The fingerprint readers on the GunVault brand was worthless.I gave up long ago on the gunvault brand fingerprint reader and just used the combo keys. It would work about 1 out of 100 times. NOW TO THE VAULTEK VT20i! Unlike the Gunvault the VAULTEK VT20i fingerprint reader is close to flawless HINT: If you do not have multiple people accessing your VAULTEK VT20i put your fingerprint in there about 30-40 times at different angles and positions, which actually takes very little time. Once the fast setup is done no matter how you put your finger on the pad it will open. The bluetooth app is nice, it does drop signal once in a while like any bluetooth device but for speed, so what, if you need to get in fast, are you going to take out your phone or place your finger on the safes fingerprint reader and access the safe in about 1 second. It's also has a much more sturdy feel then the Gunvault, much more professionally finished, they even make a white one that passed the wife test on a white bookshelf in our living room. The interior light is nice, both sound and light can be turned off with the app or via a manual code. I am such a fan of this product I now have two, I expect they will slowly replace my other GunVaults as time goes on, fast, easy and flawless, for you Concealed Carry fans, because of the cosmetics it looks fine just about anywhere, where the Gunvault would not pass the wife test. It's nice to throw my keys and wallet in the drawer, pop open the VAULTEK VT20i and have a firearm locked up in seconds. I've tried many of these type of safes on the market and this one is miles ahead of the competition, not only in features and aesthetics but in general usability and speed.

I was hesitant on buying this for two reasons. Price and some negativity in the reviews about the biometric scanner. Price: after receiving the pistol safe, I was blown away by the packaging (better than Apple), the engineering, the quality, the functionality, the security and durability as well as great, easy to understand instructions. Vaultek did it right from A - Z, they didn't miss a detail. Worth every penny! No wonder I couldn't find it cheaper, when you have a great product, you don't need to discount it. In a league of its own! Biometric Scanner: The first time I configured a finger, I was sitting down with the safe in my lap, worked great. Then I set it on a table and tried it standing up, not as reliable, sometimes it took a few tries. Brainstorm; reconfigured the same finger from the standing up position with the safe on the table, bingo. The scanner is so precise and sensitive and detects different pressure and angles, good thing, very secure. I would rather have it be precise than take the chance of my 12 year old boy getting to something that can kill him because of curiosity. Take the time and configure your finger/s the way you anticipate using it in real situations.

Just put this though it’s paces. From the awesome box to the most well written and illustrated instructions I’ve seen in a long time this safe screams quality. No kidding, super impressed. Unless you’re James Bond or live in a frickin’ war zone, this is your best value. The finger print reader allows 2 “authorized” people to access the box, then the hierarchy determines users from there up to 18 other users (read manual to totally understand). If you’re an individual that means you can take 10 scans of your finger and open the box from several positions. The 5 to 8 digit code entered is immediate opening with or without beep sound. I’m not going to use the app because you can press a combination of buttons to tell you the status of the RECHARGEABLE battery (that comes with a cord and charger), if the safe was tampered with, or if your gun is lonely. Ok, not that last one. Seriously, with the shielded steel cable that allows me to anchor it to anything and the sleek design where I can put it in my range bag or (being TSA approved) I can fly with, it’s the shizzle. Pro Tip: Cut the rubber off the keys. It will leave you with a small streamlined key with a nice hole and the number still stamped in it. God bless us all everyone. This is the best safe. If you can’t swing it please find something to be a responsible gun owner

The safe is what it is feature and spec wise, plenty of reviews have covered this and it either works for you or doesn't. The bluetooth feature and app are not terribly useful but that's not that important either in my opinion. What I really want to mention is how impressed I was with the customer service. I had to send my unit in as the charger port had apparently never worked. I hadn't realized there were little lights by the port that should have lit up when i got it so when i tried to get in the safe electronically a month later it was dead and I had to track down my key. I messed with it off and on over the next year to no avail. I finally tracked down my warranty info and submitted a claim online, which was fairly painless. I had an email the next day with a prepaid shipping label and didn't have to perform any annoying troubleshooting steps due to my having explained that I'd already done a lot of them, indicating a human actually read my email instead of just some computer replying with a canned response. I mailed the safe in (thankfully kept the original box), and in just a few weeks I had it back fully functional. Included was a repair form filled out with actual handwriting detailing the repair and QA process. This is not efficient for a company to do, but suggests they are more concerned with providing excellent customer service than saving every penny possible. I highly recommend this company and it's products to my friends and coworkers and will continue to do so.

I looked closely at many of the handgun safes online, especially with the desire to find a portable one that would work with a cable. After many hours reviewing specs and customer reviews, I selected the Vaultek VT20i. I was impressed with the packaging which showed pride in the product and its quality. I went through the very easy programming process for the combination and fingerprints without issue. I was able to place a Ruger P85 full sized Semi-Auto pistol, two loaded magazines and a 50 round box of ammo in the box comfortably. The fingerprint is the most variable opening mechanism, but works most of the time on the first try. The combination is fast and perfect and I am also impressed with the iPhone APP and its bluetooth interface. It provides the battery charge, the history and status and most importantly, the ability to remotely open the Pistol safe. I would highly recommend this box. It is built to last and I have already recommended it to friends.

UPDATE----SEEE BELOW FOR ORIGINAL REVIEW Update: I felt compelled to post an updated review after more than a month of solid use. My main frustration was with the biometric scanner. While I cant say that it's as good as any modern phone, I can say that in the past month it has worked roughly 4/5 timesI've tried it, which is a major improvement. I don't know if my finger was dirty for the first week or so or what, but I now feel confident in the biometric feature. What has impressed me most of all, however, is after opening it several times a day for over a month, battery life remains at 88%. I still feel that the product would be more satisfactory at a lower price point, but I've really enjoyed this safe for a while now, and don't regret spending the extra chunk of change. ORIGINAL: I really wanted to like this safe (especially considering how much I spent). In a lot of ways it is good quality, but the main selling point for me was the fingerprint scanner. It really only works about 1/4 of the time on average, which means I really only rely on the numeric keypad. I could have bought a much less expensive safe if I had known all I was going to be able to use was the keypad. The app does work, and is a cool feature, but more of a novelty feature in my opinion. Honestly I would return it and buy a less expensive keypad sage if my wife hadn't thrown away all of the packaging.
