This coffee maker is just right for me It makes the correct amount of coffee for my breakfast. As long as you learn how to make it. I learned thru trial and error. You have to pour the water exactly into the well. You cannot miss the well like I did at first or you get water all over your counter. You must also position the coffee holder in the right position. Once you have mastered that the coffee maker works great and the coffee is delicious.

Bought this for an aging woman. She loved it. Easy to use and very fast. As another reviewer mentioned, the five cup capacity is misleading. However, when filled with water it will completely fill two large mugs of coffee. The small amount of water heats up quickly. No timer but it does shut off by itself leaving the base heater on to keep the coffee hot. I think you have to shut this off completely to keep the machine from burning out. Oh, I almost forgot. It includes a permanent coffee filter. Update April 11, 2019. Long time, eh? Just saw this and realized I should have updated earlier to mention that this machine DOES shut down automatically to prevent burnout. I think they all do. Machine still working well and used every morning.

I bought this coffee maker after Christmas in 2017 and used it for a short while before putting it away on the shelf in favor of my other coffee makers that I test. Recently I was cleaning out my shelves and said to myself that I should give this little thing another shot and I did! Originally I tested out some random coffee back in 2017 and the results were alright. In 2018 I was introduced to Death Wish Coffee which has since been my favorite must have coffee. So today I decided to brew some Death Wish Coffee in this maker and it was awesome. In conclusion, this maker is cheap, simple, and makes great coffee as long you use good coffee grounds to begin with.

I am not a serious coffee drinker but I like to be able to fix myself a cup or two without much trouble. This little coffeemaker fits the bill. It takes up very little room on the kitchen counter, is easy to fill, I like the filter A LOT. You can't put it any of the parts in the dishwasher, but washing only takes 2 minutes. Now that the weather has turned hot, I use it to brew iced tea. I put the tea bag in the carafe, push the on button, after the water goes through, I stir in sugar if desired then let it steep for about 20 minutes. Turn off the machine, stir the sugar again to be certain it is all dissolved, then pour into 1/2 gallon pitcher and add water to fill. I didn't want or need anything complicated or expensive. I am very happy with this basic coffeemaker.

I had an older version of this little coffee maker, and it had a few issues with it that this model seems to have fixed: The top was pretty much only connected by the hinges and the part that pours water into the coffee grounds moved around too easily. With this version, they are more connected, which makes for less mess. Additionally, they allow for a little more than 5 cups (the previous version really did not). The reusable basket is a little bigger, too, which is good because the old version was smaller, so that if you filled up the pot to make 5 cups and put the correct amount of grounds in the basket, as the water went in it used to splatter coffee grounds up onto other parts of the machinery, which meant I needed to clean it thoroughly every night. The improvements are great, and it's still small and compact. I got this because we are a two coffee-maker household: He likes light roast coffee, and I like mine dark and thick. If only Republicans and Democrats could find a common ground such as we have, as this surely could have been a marriage-ending problem.

The Coffeemaker itself: This is a simple coffeemaker with a physical on and off switch. It brews nicely and comes with a reusable filter. I prefer to use it with a paper filer as well because I find the reusable filter alone leaves the coffee a bit cloudy...which is true of any reusable metal filter. It brews the perfect amount for me as the only coffee drinker in the house. I get one mug before I leave for work and then have enough to fill up my travel coffee cup. Turning it into a "Smart Coffee Maker": Since it has a physical on and off switch, you can leave it on and use a smart plug to control when it is off and on. I purchased this pack of smart plugs when they were on sale, and one of these works perfectly with this coffee machine. Etekcity 3 Pack Voltson Wi-Fi Smart Plug Mini Outlet with Energy Monitoring, Works with Alexa and Google Assistant, No Hub Required, ETL Listed, White Using the app that controls the smart plug, I have it setup to work with Alexa as well. This means that I can simply say, "Alexa, turn the coffee on" and it will start brewing. Of course, in order for this to work, I need to set it up the night before by adding the coffee and water to the machine. I can also turn it off with my phone or with Alexa. I can even see from work if I accidentally left it on with my phone and turn it off I need to. The simplicity of this machine and the physical switch make it possible to elevate it into a smart machine with the right setup. I prefer this method over buying a more expensive coffee maker with a timer because: 1. I am starting to use Alexa for everything 2. It accommodates various waking times (I simply hit the button or tell Alexa to turn on the coffee when I am upstairs getting dressed whether it be at 5:30 am or 8:30 am depending on the day) 3. You don't have to program timer or constantly set a clock on the machine 4. Once it's set up, it is super easy to use I recommend this coffeemaker and this setup for anyone who wants to have coffee ready in the morning, or someone like me who doesn't need the normal 12 cups of coffee.

I bought this machine because it has a permanent filter. I learned that paper filters give you a clean cup of coffee, but they also remove the oils that give your coffee it's flavor. You will notice that the mesh filter leaves a small amount of sediment in the bottom of your cup but that just adds to the flavor. The shower head is only about 1 inch in diameter and has 9 holes. As long as you use coffee that requires 1 Tbs per serving it will saturate the grounds evenly. If you use a coffee which requires 2 rounded Tbs per serving, like Don Francisco, it will leave a depression in the center and not saturate the grounds near the edge of the basket (see photos). Nevertheless all the coffee gets wet and the flavor is still good. So I am satisfied with the quality of this machine for the price.

I have owned every 5 cup coffeemaker on the market. Every one of them makes a mess when you start to pour the coffee into your coffee cup, spilling all over the counter. The first thing I noticed with the Amazon Coffeemaker was it poured perfectly from the first cup. It brews a great smooth cup of coffee at a fast pace. I use the paper filter inserts because I like the easy clean up of the grounds but the included filter baskets works fine too. Amazon, keep making this pot, it works GREAT!

Sorry B&D, AmazonBasics 5-cup Coffeemaker out -performs your same size. Unlike the B&D, the on/off switch is located right in the front for easy access; the B&D flip switch was too stiff. One had to hold the pot with one hand while pressing the switch with the other hand. Another plus is the see-through area indicating the amount of water one pours into the maker. For the money, its a great little coffee maker. This product was well designed to make a delicious 5 cup pot of coffee!

With tax, i think i spent a little over 14 dollars. This thing is perfect. Its simple, no frills and does its job. The best part about this is that it comes with its own filter. Cleaning is a bit of a pain as You kind of have to run the water distribution area under the faucet but, other than that, no problems.
