I gave this 5 stars because at this point I have no reason not too.. I just installed this unit in the back window of my living area where the dinning room is. Our main living area is a totally open concept so the living room, kitchen and dinning area are all open, about 900 square feet. Its only in the 70s today, so I cant really comment on the effectiveness yet, but it's actually really quite and the air is super cold even on low. I have no reason to believe it wont keep this area of the house nice and cool here in the Pacific Northwest. Our summers have been pretty hot the last 10 years or so, and I had a 12, 000 BTU unit that cooled my last home (1st floor 950 sq. feet) fairly well. I didn't use any of the install/mounting hardware due to the configuration of my home and my prior experience of installing units. Needless to say it's been installed air tight! You'll more than likely need two people, the unit is fairly large and heavy at 105 pounds. I will come back to give an update in a few months as the weather gets hotter and use it more. So, we have had a few pretty hot days, and this Unit has been incredible. 95 the other day and keeping this on low fan speed/ 61 degrees, the whole house kept cool. Like I mentioned on the 1st post above, my home has a completely open kitchen, living room, dinning area and entry. The bedroom are located at opposite sides of the house, 2 on one side, the master on the other..just opening the doors kept those cool as well. Its a beast, and well worth purchasing

I purchased this based upon an appliance repairman with 20 yrs experience when he said that he had the fewest repair calls on Whirlpool AC units. It arrived and I installed it. The first time I turned it on it was very loud. I called and reported the issue and held the phone up to the AC. The immediate response was that it needed replacement. In a few days I had my new AC and I love it. I can't say that it's whisper quiet but I sit with in six feet of it. Now after several days I don't even notice it when it turns on or runs on low. The most impressive thing was their customer service. I forgot to mention I did call 2 more times to check shipping, Each time I called a different rep answered and all three were as pleasant as possible.

More to install than the last smaller model, but, worth it!! Quiet and super fast cooling. Instantly noticed better dehumidification.

This cools my 550 sq ft apartment to a little ice box, which I love! The lowest setting is at 61 degrees F. The unit is relatively quiet for what it is. Installation was complicated, but I used Amazon Services to help set me up.

We just recently bought an older home and the central a.c. died. In May. In Miami, Florida. It was going to be a 4 week delay before a new system could be installed. I ordered this unit for the living room and a few 5,000 btu units for bedrooms to keep us from succumbing to the heat in the meantime. We installed the smaller units ourselves but decided it was better to let the Amazon Service guys install this unit and they did a great job. I bought an additional, heavy support bracket and they used that one by itself in lieu of the two smaller ones that came with the unit. It's been 9 weeks (updated), and this unit has worked beautifully. The entire house is approx. 1600 square feet, with vaulted ceilings (no attic). With two of the four bedroom units and this big boy going, the house stays comfortable all day long. If it rains in the late afternoon, the house gets super cold. By around 3 am, the house is freezing, and we often end up turning off the bedroom units and just let this unit ride out solo until the sun comes up. As for our central a.c., we aren't in a rush to replace it just yet and have redirected our focus on other things around the house that need work. This is definitely due, in large part, to this beast of a unit. *The noise level is surprisingly low for the power it has. It's more than a white noise machine but less than we expected. *We don't use the remote control, ever. *It barely forms a small puddle outside. *The delivery box is humongous but the unit is not. Con: Sometimes, when I raise the setting to a much higher temperature it will turn off and not turn on again for a while, even though I suspect it should. I power it off and on again and it will come back on. This only happens when I raise it 5 degrees or more, at once

Wow! This unit is a Beast! I live in hot, humid Houston, Texas. My house has a large living room with a vaulted ceiling at one end of the house, the air conditioning system is at the opposite end of the house. I have had years of summers in which the living room never gets below 76 to 78° Even with the central air conditioning running nonstop. I had a small unit that was made in China that I placed in one of the living room windows. It helps keep the room cool but it was incredibly noisy and still I couldn’t cool the room all the way down. Now, I’ve installed this 15,000 BTU whirlpool in the same location as the small unit. It is amazingly quiet. It has no trouble cooling the entire area of the living room on its own. Now I can use the central air to cool 1/2 of the house, this unit will have no problems covering the send of the house. I did the install myself and it was amazingly easy. The window I used is a window box that juts out from the house. Since the unit weighs 105 pounds and would jet out applying leverage on the window box. I sunk a 4 x 4 into the ground and poured concrete around it where the unit would stick out. I then took a level from the edge of the window to the 4 x 4 and marked where the unit would stick out I cut two treated 2 x 4‘s and ran bolts through them and the 4 x 4. They are runners to displace the weight of the unit. Now all of the weight goes directly into the ground and not to the house. I am looking forward to cool days this summer. What more could you ask for? It’s powerful, efficient, quiet and made in America.

I just got this ac, but felt I needed to write a review now, seeing as how im thinking alot of people will soon be in the market for a new ac since summer is coming. I can't say yet how long it will last, (will update later) but man is this thing awesome! We just installed it, and in less than an hour my 1600sq ft ranch style home has dropped from 76 degrees to 72 degrees. This is on the medium setting. I'm actually kind of cold now. Lol. This is a very large unit. I would recommend having someone home during delivery, as my FedEx guy knocked on the door looking for help lifting. The box is GIGANTIC! I was actually a bit worried I measured wrong until I unpacked everything. We have standard windows, and it is a perfect, but tight fit. This ac unit blows very cold air! Something that is very important to me. I did not wanna pay 500 bucks for something that felt like a blower fan. Also, the air just on the medium setting, is hitting me on my couch which is roughly 20+ feet away. Now installation. Instructions for this are actually mid manual. You have to search for the 15,000 btu information in the book. I'm not gonna lie, my husband was not a happy camper while reading what the instructions were calling for. Lol. It basically asks you to remove the guts of the unit, install the shell, put it all back together etc . Very permanent installation process We however did things a little differently, because this is not a forever spot for the ac unit, as I will be adding a sliding glass door there soon. So work smarter not harder and it's pretty easy. Weight wise, I would say 2 people are a good idea for installing. My husband and I did it together and it wasn't very heavy at all. About 100lbs. I'm very impressed with this ac. I did my homework and glad I decided on this one. 15000 was a good choice.

Bought this to replace a nice 8k btu LG Ive had for a few years in the bedroom and wow this blows it away. Very pleased with every aspect of this whirlpool unit

Great A/C. Quiet, cold and just politely does what it's supposed to do. Makes the place much more comfortable.
