this camera has infrared capabilities that exceed much costlier cameras. the absolute best thing is that you can power the monitor and camera with 9v batteries, or a 12v ac adapterLE DC 12V 2A Power Supply Adapter, AC 100-240V to DC 12V Transformers, Switching Power Supply for 12V 3528/5050 LED Strip Lights, 24W Max, 12 Volt 2 Amp Power Adaptor, 2.1mm X 5.5mm US Plug. this will power both monitor and camera and provide an added security at home as well. the camera can be used with any television that has RCA jacks, so i use it as a forward observation camera and to secure normally unseen areas. this camera is phenomenal and i have already got two. trust this review, you CANT get a better or more useful camera for this outstanding price. only drawback, no option to record but if you plug it through a DVR i think this can be overcome.

After researching a number of back up cameras, I used the following criteria to select a camera: larger monitor size, waterproof camera, Bluetooth range and pricepoint. This camera met all of criteria listed and was purchased to use on the back of my travel trailer. The digital camera arrived in about 1 week and contained a variety of electric installation options. The company also provides written installation instructions along with web links to video instructions that were very helpful. The camera system was pre tested (prior to installation) by using the cigarette lighter adaptor for the monitor and directly hooking the camera to the vehicle battery. When the system was activated the camera and monitor automatically paired. I was very impressed with the quality of picture and the number of monitor adjustments available with this system. After establishing that the system functioned properly, I began to install the camera on the back of the travel trailer. The rear center marker light was removed from the trailer, the bracket was used to mount the camera and the camera was wired through the marker lights of the trailer. A second test was conducted and the camera failed to work. I conducted tests for the camera according to the video. The camera continued to fail to function. I emailed the company, explained the problem and they offered a couple additional tests to try. These tests did not work, so I notified them again and they offered to replace the camera. One week later, a new camera arrived, it was tested and installed. It functions exceptionally well: clarity of monitor video is excellent, has had no signal failures with a distance from camera to monitor of over 36 feet. I would highly recommend this product. I was very happy with the customer service of this company. They were quick and helpful with my problems and stayed with it to make certain it was resolved.

Okay, so here's my situation... I just picked up a 2005 Silverado 2500 HD to pull my 25' boat. Being a 2005, the Silverado doesn't have a factory-installed backup camera. However, that's only half of the problem. I was also looking for a way to have a backup camera for when I'm towing and launching the boat. So, I checked out a wireless system. Problem is: where to mount the camera and how to power it. Normally, you would just tap into the reverse lights but, how to do that with a boat and trailer? I can't mount the camera on the rear of the trailer. Everytime I launch, I'd be dunking the camera in the water. If I mounted it on the boat and tapped into the trailer lights, I'm sure to forget to disconnect it at launching and tear out the wiring. So, here's what I came up with... I mounted the camera on the stern of the boat and connected it to the boat's batteries using a 12V remote controlled switch (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M02ZFT8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). This allows me to power off the wireless camera when not inuse. When I need it, I change to the secondary channel on the wireless monitor and using the remote control, power-on the wireless camera. This arrangement has an added bonus as I can move the monitor from the truck (4 thumbscrews) to the cockpit and have a backup camera when I'm on the water. The vender was very responsive and helpful answering all my questions promptly. I am impressed with the quality and the value of this equipment. If you have a similar situation, this is a very cost-effective solution.

This seller, Jason, (DoHonest) went above and beyond to gain a happy customer. Thank you! The product works well, however, the bracket obscures information at the top of the license plate (State, year and month of expiration). I did not realize this when I purchased and contacted the seller, well actually he contacted me to ask how it was working for me, that's when I explained the issue. He offered a replacement camera that fits behind the plate free of charge!! I received it as promised and the system is now installed and works well. I installed this on an older Suburban and it was surprisingly easy. I was able to tuck the cable underneath the trim on the inside of the vehicle, it's completely hidden all the way to the monitor on the dash, the bulky RCA connectors posed a slight problem but I was able to hide them (just) under the side rear molding. The video cable was plenty long enough, had at least 8' slack! The power from the reverse lights, I was able to route under the sealing rubber strip, so no need to drill a hole. The only thing I had to source was 2 butt splice connectors to tap into the reverse light wires. The picture is good enough for backing up but not the greatest. However, considering the price and service from the seller definitely worthy of 5 stars!! Definitely recommend, however make sure you get the correct camera!

This exceeded my expectations. The camera was bigger than I expected, but as a result it delivers a solid image over a quite long range. The display is nice and large, and the image is good (see my attached picture of the screen showing down the hill when backing up). The color is a bit tilted to the oranges, but this improves contrast so you can see what is behind you very well. The screen does allow adjustments with buttons in front. The screen comes with different mounting options, including the hinged one they show (with two knurled knobs to adjust and then lock down), but also a windshield suction mount and a dashboard stick down mount. I used the windshield one and it is solid. The camera and screen are metal and not plastic, so give confidence in long term viability. Installation is pretty easy, and the instructions are good. The camera allows a wired in for permanent use or attacked to the backup lights so it only comes on when backing up. This should allow for forward view except when backing up if you get the 2nd camera. The screen can be wired via the cigarette lighter (with included lighter plug) or hard wired (it uses a jack, and the lighter plug has a jack, but also both have wire connector options). Both camera and screen have a proper antenna you screw on, so they can get good range easily. I did not see any disturbance from other noise sources, so seems a good digital comms vs. the normal analog which is a bit noisier and much less clear. The only note is to be aware that the camera is big, so you need to consider where you want to mount it. It also has decent focus over a fair range, so can be aimed more down or can be lower down. Note that you can just snip a wire loop to add the backup lines if that makes sense - I did not use that.

I'm very pleased with this backup camera/monitor. Easy to install; amazingly inexpensive (under $30); very good picture relative to sharpness and clarity, including bright infrared image in complete darkness. Only minor complaint is the image color in daytime use: trees look purple, no matter how the tint and saturation controls are adjusted. I would have bought it at this price even if it were only black & white (and it could be set for this if the aberrant color is annoying). I wired this for use with the cigarette lighter switch only, for greater utility (there's no need to be in reverse gear to see the image). I don't understand the several reviewers who said it won't work when wired this way; either they had a defective unit, or wired it wrong. Installing wired units like this is admittedly more of an initial nuisance than doing wireless-- routing (hiding) and affixing the wires from trunk lid to dashboard-- but it's worth it in the long run, in my opinion: as compared with wireless, simple hard wiring saves money; is one-time-only extra work; and is less likely to temporarily or permanently fail than a system requiring radio signal transmission between camera and monitor. (If it holds up over time) this is one of the very best values I've gotten from Amazon.

I purchased this unit because it was digital and the signal quality was to be better. Unfortunately the quality of the signal was not as good as I had hoped for. I am using this on my Ford F250 with an attached 35' fifth-wheel trailer. The signal would come and go. So why am I giving this a 5 star review... because of the Excellent customer service! I wrote to the vendor explaining the problem with the signal going in and out. The sent me an external antenna at no cost to see if that would improve the signal. It did, but only a little. When I wrote to them with that information they offered to send me a new unit, which is a multi camera unit with recording capability, they even included a 32GB memory card. This second unit was also sent to me at no cost. I had the second unit in less than a week. That unit worked much better! There was one thing I was disappointed with on the second unit. It had the ability to have a second camera, which I needed for the bed of my truck, but was not part of what they sent to me. I again wrote to the vendor and they said they would send a 2nd camera, again at no cost! You cannot get any better service than that. I would highly recommend the vendor. By the way, the first unit worked fine if the camera and the monitor were closer together.

My previous backup camera (10 years old with a 1" monitor) failed about a week before I bought this one. I started searching Amazon for a replacement and came across this one. Couldn't believe the price. I figured I had nothing to lose and everything to gain so I ordered one. I removed my old wireless backup camera and installed this one in my '93 Chevy K3500 Silverado Extended Cab pickup. I routed the wire through the rear bumper, then along the frame beside existing factory wiring to the front of the firewall and into the cab through the firewall. The included cabling was plenty long enough to reach from the camera to the monitor. I still had a few feet of excess wire that I wound into loops and tied to wires under the dash to keep it out of the way. The monitor is huge compared to my old one. The picture is crystal clear. It is a huge improvement over my previous backup camera that cost $100 almost 10 years ago. I don't know how they can sell this at such a low price and make any money, but I'm not complaining. I guess it's typical for the price of technology to drop over time, but I still don't see how they are making money. I didn't lose anything on this backup camera; I made a huge gain. And at an unbelievably low price. One small piece of advice. I had a bit of interference at first. I thought that the ground that runs through the included cable might be picking it up, so I grounded both ends of the cable. End of problem. The picture is crystal clear now. So if you have some interference on your monitor, try tying both ends of the bare wire to ground. But whatever you do, only tie one end of the red power wire to a power source. I did that at first and nothing worked right. Stupid mistake on my part. There are 2 wiring diagrams, one for hooking it up using a switch and the other for wiring it to your backup lights. I think I was looking at the wrong diagram when I hooked up the second end of the wire. You can't go wrong at this price.

Recently had the geek squad install this backup camera system into my wife’s 2003 Honda CR-V and we’ve been using it for about a week. I must say that I am pleasantly surprised by the high resolution picture quality of the 4.3” LCD screen. One night while backing out of our garage and looking at the screen I could see raindrops hitting some puddles in our driveway 20 feet away. That’s pretty impressive for a $30 backup camera. I mounted the monitor into Cellet Cup Holder Tablet Mount and it fits snug plus it doesn’t interfere with any of the dashboard controls. Installation instructions wanted me to stick the screen on top of the dashboard but that was never an option because it would obstruct the view out the windshield. One problem we had was the mounting bracket for the camera is quite thick and the old bolts holding the license plate were too short to go through the camera mounting bracket and the license plate. So I purchased two longer machine bolts at a hardware store that hold the license plate and the camera firmly to the back of the vehicle. By the way, the reason I went to all of the trouble of installing this was that we had a close call a few months ago while backing out of our garage. A neighbor’s 4 year old was quietly playing on the sidewalk in the direct path of our vehicle and we didn’t realize it. Luckily we stopped before anything bad happened but this incident scared us enough to find a solution to the problem and buying a brand new vehicle wasn’t an option for us. If you take the time to install this properly you’ll be just as satisfied as we are.
