When I got a new car, I got a new problem. My wireless cell phone charger only fit on some of the vents, blocking my access to the media screen (didn't have one of those before!). So while I could use my old phone charger, it wasn't optimal for accessing my wipers and media screen (it was in between). This little device allowed me to use the side vent, which is round (Toyota RAV4) and which had deeper fins on it. All I had to do was put this on the vent, tighten it, and then put my wireless mount on it - the ball was the same size or near enough that it worked perfectly (17 mm). Happy and safer now! Thanks!

Very low profile. I have a Drive 60 and wasn't sure if it would be strong enough to hold it but it works great! It works better on a straight vent instead of the vent that is angled on the dash only because the GPS is so big but it holds great! On the straight vent there isn't any vibration but there is a slight vibration on the angled vent due to the GPS touching the dash. Very compact. I bought a spare one to carry in my travel bag so I don't have to keep taking it off the vent.

Got this for my wife so she could use the Garmin DriveSmart 51 attached to the vent. It has great holding power on the vent vanes. It is adjustable enough to swivel the GPS to get an optimal view. You lock it to the vent by turning a tightening collar and it really clamps down well.

The “Suction power” reference above has no place here as this mount clamps on to a dashboard vent. It holds very well so far and has not bounced off the the floor once. The GPS attaches and detaches easily. Because it is not attached to the windshield, it does not block the view of anything. Best GPS Mount I’ve tried so far.

The suction type mount that came with my Garmin 50LM worked reasonably well but locating it was a problem. I wanted something else that was simple, hopefully rather cheap (since it's simple), yet work well. And this fits all three. I was a bit worried that it may not grip the vent slat well enough and had plans to epoxy a bit of rubbery material to the right spot, but it was simply unnecessary in my case. The grip to the vent is fine, I think be sure to slide it all the way in before tightening. The only very slight drawback which is rather negligible, is when removing the GPS from the mount, I don't just want to pull it off for fear of breaking the vent slat, so I put my fingers behind it to hold the mount and then pull the GPS - and it's a little tight to get my fingers behind it. Big deal, right :) No.

This thing rocks. I’ve struggled with suction cups and magnets all to no avail with my GPS unit. This little sucker snaps right into the vent and is really unobtrusive when not in use. I wish I could go back in time and get back all the money and time I wasted on fancier looking stuff. Simple works.

Great addition to my Garmin GPS - now much easier to access and very stable. Mounts in center vent and does limit movement of vanes but benefits outweigh the minor issue.

Have never been a fan of the suction cup mounts. This is my 4th or 5th vent/dash mount and by the far the best. It replaces my most recent mount - a Garmin vent mount - on which a fragile clamping arm broke. IMO, what makes this mount good is the simplicity - 2 sturdy tapered arms simply clamp down around a vane in the vent as you tighten a big, easy to manipulate knob. Once it's tight, it seems very stable, unlike some of the other mounts I've had. Since there aren't all sorts of spring-loaded clips and complicated clamping mechanisms, there's less of a chance that this one will break, either. The Garmin mount had a little hook on the end of the arms which needed to close around the back of the vent vane - which made it impossible to use in a recent rental car having very deep vanes. This one doesn't require that - it looks like it will work on just about anything. I like that it keeps my GPS off the top of the dash and less conspicuous - the low profile puts my GPS snug up against the other instruments in my car.

Living in Florida I was so frustrated with the heat and humidity causing the suction cups NOT to hold my Garmin on the windshield. This little plastic invention solves the problem easily and perfectly! It secures my Garmin to one of the vents for the heater and once secured I can tilt the GPS to adjust to where I want it. Simple idea and totally answers the need. GPS Mount, APPS2Car Air Vent GPS Mount GPS Holder for Garmin Nuvi Serie 3.5 to 6 Inch GPS [Adjustable Mount Base]

I have tried several vent mounts but for a 6 inch Garmin device this is the only one that will hold to the vent. I think that the reason Garmin does not sell a vent mount for their larger devices is because the weight creates a problem with slippage. This 3rd party maker has found a way to do the trick.
