I'm using this to cover a cast that comes up to just below my knee. There's plenty of room to cover my entire leg if I had needed to do so. There's a simple little trick to getting these on easily - put your thumbs in the hole and roll the edges until the rubber is completely covered by the plastic, (kind of like making a cuff on a shirt sleeve). Now you can just slide the plastic over your cast without the rubber catching and pulling on everything. Once you get the cover up over your cast, just unroll the rubber edge so that is tight against your leg. The rubber hole is very tight, but not too tight for my leg. If you find that you need more room, just snip out a little inner ring of the rubber.

I came home from bunion surgery wearing a post surgical shoe over my bandaged foot. So I was basically wearing a very large/wide velcro sandal, about one and half times as wide and twice as high as my normal sneaker. I needed a shower protector that could be opened very wide at the top, as I didn't want to put any pressure on the sandal/foot at all while pulling on the protector. Both my husband and I held the gasket open (it's a round opening, so if you picture a clock face, he held it at 12 and 6, while I held it at 9 and 3 if that makes sense) and we were able to ease it over the entire surgical shoe without touching it. The top opening for this product is MUCH wider than the seal tight cast cover (my dr's office sold me that one and it was useless for my purpose). I could see how one of the other products could work if you were putting it on over something hard, like a cast, where it didn't matter if it touched/put pressure on the cast. But over a soft velcro sandal on a bandaged foot you want something you can really stretch open. BTW, I don't know how you could do this with just one pair of hands. We eased it up higher on my leg to my thigh and then released, letting the gasket close tightly over your leg. I am a thin person and within a minute it felt like it was cutting off circulation to my leg. Obviously it needs to be watertight, this is not a criticism of the product, more just a heads up that you will likely be taking a short shower. Some of the low reviews for this product said theirs wasn't watertight. My husband tested ours just in case by blowing air in and seeing if it would hold it, and it did. I'm sure it's possible to get a defective one and/or accidentally tear it while putting your cast in so I would test it first then be super careful getting your cast in it. It is thick plastic, thicker than a freezer bag, but certainly not impenetrable. I would say it's as thick as good quality inflatable beach toy. This isn't specific to this review, but more things I wish I knew before my surgery. If you are having surgery so you can plan in advance, I would recommend the following: practice with everything! Ask your Dr how big a covering you will have on your foot. If you can, borrow a shoe from someone that's a lot bigger than your normal shoe. Buy the shower cover in advance and try to put it on over your foot while wearing the big shoe. Then set up the shower itself and figure out how you will shower and try it! In my case, I wasn't able to put much pressure on the operated foot, and there's no way I could balance on one foot safely for the length of a shower. We put a small plastic step ladder in the shower for me to sit on. (They do sell shower chairs, but we happened to already have the step ladder at home). Even though we had a hand held shower head, I was so low (sitting on the step ladder) that I couldn't reach the holder for the shower head so I had to let it dangle down while I used two hands to shampoo my hair. I had to figure out what do with the hand held so it wouldn't shoot water towards the shower stall curtain while dangling. Trust me, there are things you won't think of unless you do a real test while you still have both feet to work with!

Though I have yet to try and shower with this product, the fit of it is already so much better than a trash bag! I am excited to try and use it and not be paranoid about my splint getting wet. The only “negative” side to it is that I am a plus sized woman, and the runner part that seals off the cast from the water is a bit tight around my leg. So, plus sized buyers- be aware. This is not going to deter me from using this product, as again, it’s much better than a trash bag and rubber band. I will try and remember to write an update once I have used it! **update after use: product was great at keeping water out! As I mentioned previously, I am plus sized, so the rubber suction seal was a bit tight and left a little mark temporarily, but not much different than a rubber band would do. It is a bit of a challenge to get on and off over a splint-ace bandage, because if you just pull at it, the splint wrap will get messed up needing rearranging. But really, overall, I am very happy with this purchase. Great product!

I waited 3 weeks to give an accurate review. It works as promised and is a big benefit to taking a shower with a broken foot, ankle, or leg. But here is a problem we faced. I wear a bulky foot boot and it was hell trying to get the top rubber part over the foot boot and it took some time plus the rubber hole almost cut off the circulation of my leg it was so tight. My solution was my husband cut another 3/4 inch circumference of the rubber inlet and it fit over the boot a lot easier and still kept all the water out after a half dozen showers so far.

Amazing. Covers my entire walking boot from my bunionectomy. However, I had to re-purchase and return the initial pair I bought because right under the rubber seal, there was a small hole from manufacturing. This is by far the best product I have seen on the market for showering while recovering with a walking boot. Definitely buy for your recovery. You won't regret it. The rubber top seal is so innovative. Works perfectly for a waterproof seal. Surgery recovery is hard enough. This makes showering that much easier.

This by far is the best product I have ever bought online. It does exactly what it says it does keeps the water out very easy to put on. I have read all the reviews that said it was extremely tight around their thigh. I'm not quite sure what size legs people have but if fit mine perfect. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who has a cast or any type of foot problem and cannot get it wet. It's an excellent product.

For my two knee replacements, I used garbage bags and tape. That absolutely did not work well, and what a hassle! For my recent toe surgery, I purchased this cast cover. It's wonderful. I've read the other reviews, and I agree that it can be difficult to put on. I did practice getting it over my air cast before my surgery, so I was prepared and can manage it without assistance. Reviews also mention it is a tight fit, especially if one is plus size. Even so, I'd rather have a tight seal that keeps the protected area dry than attempt the trash bags and tape again. That is equally difficult when you're doing it on your own and not nearly as effective or successful. I love this cover and am very pleased with how well it works. I'll be passing it on to my best friend when she has her knee replacement surgery!

It is so much easier to use the Vive Leg Cast Cover than to use plastic bags and plastic wrap! This product is easy to put on and kept my cast dry. They are reusable and I have been using them for over 2 weeks. The circular opening is made of flexible material that stretches to go on over bandages or cast and then Re-tightens to create a waterproof barrier. Bottom portion is vinyl. I had surgery on both feet so I had to wear two. The vinyl part is very large so should fit over most casts but will hug a smaller or larger thigh to keep water out. I highly recommend this product. After showering I recommend towel drying the top of this product to keep surface water from getting cast wet during removal. Then hang over tub/shower to finish drying exterior. Someone else suggested for use, turning/rolling top stretchy opening back over vinyl to make it easier to slide on or off.

Wonderful product. It is easier to blow in it to open it up before trying to put your foot into it. It is long so tall or shorter people can use it. Great rubber cuff for all leg sizes. One thing I did notice was the bath/shower cant be to long because it is a little tight around your thigh restricting some circulation but NOT so much that it hurts! I also noticed that the water or bathroom cant be to hot because the bag will start to sweat after a while. The plastic is nice and thick so you dont have to worry about holes. Great buy, reusable.... Will recommend!!!!

I ruptured my achilles so have been in a splint that ends just below my knee for the past couple of weeks. I'm waiting for the doctor to upgrade me to a boot. I'm not supposed to get my splint wet so I initially wrapped my splint in a kitchen garbage bag and sealed it with a rubber band. It worked okay but it was a hassle to make sure it was waterproof. I figured I might find something on Amazon made for my situation. Sure enough I found this. The material is thicker than I thought it would be...it's sorta like a thick inner tube. Getting it on and off was easy (as it can be for someone in a splint). If you have trouble bending over, you may need someone to help you. The opening is tight enough for someone with thin legs. It may be uncomfortably tight if you are on the hefty side. A little water has gotten in it while taking it off. I pat dry around the seal before removing it to prevent water from going in. I also use a pants hanger (with the two clips) and clip each end of the mouth of the seal to keep it open so it could dry out if water gets in and won't get moldy. I'm 5'4 and this works perfect. I don't think it is tall enough for my husband who is 6'4. It probably wouldn't go above his knee.
