Comfortable knife

I really like how comfortable the handle is. I was looking for a nice sheepsfoot blade for my first whittling knife, and I was not disappointed. This is a great first step before I spend the money on a whittling Jack or more expensive knife.

The knife blade was not sharp. Before I could contact the seller they contacted ME wanting to send a replacement and two days later I had a new sharp edged knife. It is easy to use and carved well for mybeginning efforts.

I liked the looks of the knife right out of the box. Looks perfect for my grandson's.. In fact, I ordered a second one after being so pleased with the first one. HOWEVER, the description in two places on the Amazon page say: ""5 Easy steps to sharpen hook knife" and "How to sharpen the woodcarving knife", "How to prevent the knives from the rust" - FREE eBooks!" and ""5 Easy steps to sharpen hook knife" and "How to sharpen the woodcarving knife" - FREE eBooks By spoon carver Chris Malcolm!" But the QR code and the written internet address on the box do not work. No way I know of to get the books. UPDATE: Changed my rating from a 2 to a 5. Apparently the eBooks come by mail a week after purchase, mine arrived yesterday. The knives themselves seem perfect for our needs. They were very sharp out of the box and a couple strokes on a strop block gave them that final razor edge. There are other more expensive knives out there which may be of interest later, but these knifes are inexpensive and will be excellent starter knives to determine how serious the boys will be in their wood carving endeavors. Then we can look at other types and styles of knives.

Nice knife for general wood carving

I purchased the cutting/chip carving knife recently. I have a fairly broad collection of chip carving knives. This knife has a good solid blade and handle that fits my hand with ease. I spent about 10 minutes, at the most, dressing the blade with a fine ceramic stone and strop and had a razor sharp knife ready to go. The price is much lower that many other chip carving knifes. I'd say this one would be good for someone beginning carving and for anyone wanting a work horse knife at a reasonable price. I have also obtained a couple other of this company's offerings and have been pleased with them all.

Made whittling so much easier

I am so glad I got this carving knife from Beaver Craft! I can whittle for hours and I don’t have super strong hands. I was using an inferior knife But as soon as I tried this one it made all the difference in the world. I usually don’t write reviews but I wanted to this time because I am so thankful for their good quality.

Great Carving Knife

I got this knife to help me improve my woodcarving abilities. I am an amateur carver and I had never sculpted anything before this aside from a few "Harry Potter" Wands. The picture in this post was my first attempt with this knife. After a few hours I had something that I was pretty proud of. It is not exquisite by any means, but I was happy with it and I am still working on it. The knife gits perfectly in your and has a very comfortable grip when trying to get the right cut. The blade is extremely sharp as I tested out personally by slipping when cutting the block and got my thumb. It wasn't deep but it was enough to cut it pretty good with minimal contact. If you order this knife I recommend keeping the blade sheath for storage when the knife is not in use. Great Knife!!!

Perfect for beginners!

I bought this knife to whittle a Harry Potter wand. It is sharp and easy to use - even as a total beginner who has never tried to whittle a thing. It arrived quickly and seems to be very sharp and good quality.

Careful, the blade is sharp

This cutting knife is very sharp. I have only been carving for a year but I know my tools and I would order again. This was a good buy.
