So bright it's like staring at the solar eclipse
Awesome. I love it. This thing is bright. So bright in fact that I bought green tipped bananas that I'd say had 2-3 days to go before they even started to spot and left them on my counter about 8' away. I came home from work the next day and they were all spotted on 1 side and the side facing the light was completely brown. Only had it 2 weeks now but my bonsai trees seem to like it.

A good light for the price.
Update: 11/13/17 It's been a couple weeks now. My plants have obvious signs of new growth. I think they grown more in the past 2 weeks than they had in the last 6 months before having the light. I am running a timer on the light using a lantern light schedule of 12 on - 5.5 off -1 on - 5.5 off. Apparently this tricks the plant to stay in vegetative state. A timer is a definite need as well. The light is still working. No dead LEDs or anything like that. Will update as it goes but I'm thinking about adding another light to my set up. I bought this light to attempt to bring some generational plants back from the brink. First impressions are that this light has a decent build for the price. I've only had it for 2 days now and the plants are already seeming to arrange themselves to point towards the light. I will update this as it goes but the light seems to put out some decent amount of light and the price is definitely right.

So far So Good (comparing grow lights)
I bought this plant as one of three to test to see which works the best. I'll write my initial impressions now, then update the review later. I installed this light on the top shelf of a metal Ikea shelf set in front of the back patio window. The light is secured to the underside of the top-most shelf. The light has hooks on it for hanging, and comes with wires and clips to suspend it from a single hook above the plant. I didn't use the wires because the shelf is already fairly low. Instead, I secured the light with velcro ties (the kind used to bundle electronics' cords). That leaves a little space between the underside of the shelf and the top of the light. The light fixture is warm to the touch, unlike the other two lights, but not so hot that the plants get burned. The warmth might even help the plants in the shelf above, as it will give them a warm base. The color isn't as red as the other panel I bought, which I prefer, as I find it difficult to gauge a plant's state of health in red light. This panel is also larger than the other, so sticks out slightly beyond the sides of the shelf. At the moment, I have bonsai and orchids under the light. The light has been in them for 2 weeks. One of the orchids (a lady's slipper) has suddenly put out a number of new leaves. The other plants show no changes in growth habits. I'll come back in 2 or 3 months and update my review.

Complete Change after 3 Weeks, Great for Succulents
So far so good! Succulents (sempervivum) were sad, pale and sickly due to lack of proper light during winter... tomorrow will make 3 weeks (with anywhere from 12-16 hrs) underneath these bad boys, the improvement is noticeable. The succulent looks so much healthier. The color is a darker shade of green, the individual leaves are much firmer and have literally "perked up" at the tips. The overall effect gives each rosette that picture perfect uniformity/spacing of leaves, and rich color. The "before" photo is from Dec 23rd; at the time the leaves had a dull matte complexion, as well as the pliability and texture of construction paper.The "after" photo was taken Jan 3rd; the leaves are much thicker with a dense rubber like feel, and they now have a dark, healthy, waxy complexion.

Great For Micro Greens and Small Seedlings
On a whim I decided I needed lights for growing vegetables. I've had cheap panels before and they always sucked but these ones seemed different. Honestly probably because they're full aluminum construction. But now I can see its not just the housing that's different. These lights have a driver separate from the light housing = less heat while running. The light is actually blending together and isn't just Red, Blue, White dots like I've had panels cast for light in the past. I've had these panels for 24 days now and it's enough time for me to know they'll work for plants. I'm not sure how they'll work for larger plants, but I know they work wonders for lettuce, kale, spinach, and I'm sure any other micro greens or spices would thrive under these. In the pic provided you can see the light is about 12"-16" above my reservoirs. Definitely recommend this light for anyone starting a small indoor garden, or even someone looking for a cheap propagation light, this will get the job done. I've added two photos to this posting, one is of the lights above my kale and lettuce. The other is a set of plants I grew under some fluorescents and a cheap crappy panel to see the difference in growth. The difference is night an day, and that crap panel cost more than this one did... You can see that the other panel's light doesn't mix, and this is terrible for plants although I have used it successfully, I don't plan on keeping it around much longer.

Quality LED grow light
This is my second purchase of a Roleadro grow light. It is a quality product. I’ve had the unit running on a 12/12 schedule since it arrived. One of the main things I like about the unit is that it produces very little heat the ballast is external of the light making it very light weight. I’d buy another with any reservations.

I grew some kitchen herbs from seed and then placed the babies under these lights. I have no windows in the area just these and they are doing amazing. I am not delighted about the pink glow in the area but they do such a great job on my plants I am learning to live with it. I don't claim to be an expert on lights and I am only a hobby gardener but I am able to tell if it does what is was bought for. I have only had them a few weeks so I can't say how long they last but I can say everything else stated in the listing was true. Pic of basil at 3-4 weeks with this light.

Great Panels for microgreens and general houseplants!
If you view my Amazon reviews you can see that I've been running numerous agricultural science experiments for the last 18 months or so. I have purchased almost every single "LED Grow Lights" in the 300-600w range, all the 36w, 48w, and 60w "LED grow light bulbs", all the way up to to the majority of the 600-2000W LED panels. I have been been running everything in a laboratory environment with controlled conditions. I use an Apogee Quantum Par meter, and several other meters as testing redundancies. The plants in the recent experiments are: Basil, Strawberries, Dill, Variants of Lettuce, Lavender, tissue culture of California Redwoods, Marijuana (Indica and Sativa strain), tissue culture of peas. Nutrient delivery is computer controlled and precisely monitored. Over the last 18 months I ran experiments in DWC hydroponics STERILE, DWC "Bennie", Aeroponics, Ebb and flow, ebb and drain, Kratky method, and full aquaponic systems. These ROLEADRO Panels are built very well and have an external (small) ballast. The ballast gets mildly warm under continuous use 18/6hr. Mildly warm means 88-105f with an ambient temperature of 74f-88f, The backside of the panel is flat and looks to be tin, maybe aluminum. It doesn't get hot. Surface temp probe reads 82f on the metal backside, after it had been on 18hrs straight. Out of all the LED multispectrum panels that I tested in the 60watt (or below) category, these 45w panels delivered the SECOND best PPFD Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density and overall visible growth results in all plants when placed within extremely close proximity to the plants (micro greens) (top light tested is the Taotronics 36w bulb which even (sadly) beats out most of the “1200”watt LED lights ( https://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics-Hydroponics-Organic-Greenhouse-Applicable/dp/B01HPIPM70/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1492746912&sr=8-2&keywords=taotronics+grow+light ) Using an Apogee Full spectrum smart Quantum sensor, the SQ-520, the light performs very well for a 45w panel. It pulls: 330 micro moles at 4 inches 275 micro moles at 8 inches 192 micro moles at 12 inches 115 micro moles at 18 inches 70 micro moles at 24 inches 34 micro moles at 3 feet. That's impressive compared to the other cheap LED panels offered on Amazon which are putting out around 9-40μm and saying they are 4x the power. The spectrum falloff is within expected range, I would say the ideal effective range for these is relatively close, around 8-14”. You could place them higher however the PAR drops significantly after 1.5ft. Keep your expectations within scientific reasoning, don't expect to bloom 16 Costco sized strawberries off this one single panel. However you could grow TWO entire 20x10 trays of flowers on this easily. You could grow a SINGLE 20x10 of Microgreens (healthily) under this. To provide a comparative perspective, marijuana seedlings thrive when you start seedlings with a minimum of 150µmol, preferably 300µmol+, teen (2 weeks into VEG or futher) marijuana from healthy strains are known to prefer a minimum of 500µmol+ , something that most (singular LED lights) LED's are not capable of for long periods of time (4/21/2017). Most of the good LED lights kick out around 1200-2300µmol and the ones that do it continuously RELIABLY and run cool to the touch, will cost anywhere from $900-4000. You can use the following calculation to determine the hourly PAR. Substitute your actual instantaneous PAR measurement for the '55µmol’' below: Hourly PAR= (55µmol / m^2s) ( 60s / 1min) (60min / 1hr) (1 mol / 1 x 10^6µmol) = 0.36 mol / m^hour In case anyone isn't tracking along, here are some definitions: Humans use Lumens. Don't measure a lights effectiveness by it's luminosity. If you do, you're just an idiot. The FEIT 300watt LED $40 bulb is extremely bright and can light up a .25 acre backyard, it's marketed as "stadium lighting replacements" however it puts off a miserable 10µmol within 2" of the bulb and couldn't grow anything. Plants use PAR, PAR stands for photo-synthetically active radiation (PAR). PAR is NOT a measurement or “metric” like feet, inches or kilos. Rather, it defines the type of light needed to support photosynthesis. The three factors anyone (even little ol granny growing Magnolias indoors) should care about when growing under artificial lighting is: PPF - Photosynthetic Photon Flux, PPF measures the total amount of PAR that is produced by a lighting system each second. PPFD - Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density (PPFD), measures the amount of PAR that actually arrives at the plant, or as a scientist might say: “the number of photosynthetically active photons that fall on a given surface each second”. Photon Efficiency....Photon Efficiency refers to how efficient a horticulture lighting system is at converting electrical energy into photons of PAR. Many horticulture lighting manufacturers use total electrical watts or watts per square foot as a metric to describe light intensity. However, these metrics really don’t tell you anything since watts are a measurement describing electrical input, not light output. Micromoles (looks like this µmol ) – Intensity of a light is measured over a fixed area to understand the ability of a light to cover an area with that intensity (coverage). Micromoles of photons per square meter per second (µmol/m2/s) measures the intensity by taking measurements in a consistent 4 x 4 grid, measures the coverage of that intensity–commonly known as PPFD per 4 x 4 grid. Rather than measuring light intensity by lumens per watt with a lux meter, growers should use a quantum PAR meter to measure the micromoles of photons per square meter per second (µmol/m2/s) at the canopy level. To best calculate PAR light intensity coverage using PAR mapping 4 x 4 grids, be sure and measure at various heights. Spot readings (PPF) metrics are misleading. G rowers use PPFD per square meter to accurately measure intensity and coverage of that intensity. If you're like "whoa dood, I'm just trying to grow baby tomatoes for grams and you're going Bill Nye on me", I'm simply saying: These panels are great for certain applications like seedlings and microgreens, it is not suitable for any large blooming or fruit applications. I hypothesize that you cannot yield marijuana under these at all (unless you're crazy), you can however start seedlings. This is also perfect for sustaining Tissue Cultures and have been very reliable. I have ordered 8 of these now and use them in the laboratory. If you want to be MINDBLOWN......, the $26 Taotronics 36w LED grow light BULB puts out a WHOPPING multispectrum 1500µmol at 1.5ft You would need a couple per plant for large fruits, vegetables or marijuana, but you cannot beat the cost factor and....after running the lights for 24/7, you can easily fully grab the bulb/heatsink, unscrew it, and it won't even be slightly warm. I can conclude that while soil on Mars is healthy enough to sustain Strawberries, they are absolute water monsters with low positive environment benefits (oxygen consumption vs depletion) and not ideal candidates for space colonization... I love science!

Quite suitable for the purpose
Right now I am waiting to see if it really helps the plants, though they seem to be doing better. If after a few more weeks they are clearly doing better then I will buy another one of these to fill out and balance the window. I found it easy enough to mount the panel to the ceiling using some wallboard anchors -- it is very light. The power supply is currently hanging rather awkwardly next to the window, but once I decide what is permanent it has the hooks you can use to make that nice, if not invisible. I happen to sit directly under this, so it took me a couple of days to get used to being purple -- but actually, I don't find that so bad. ---- Dec 30 Update: I now have three of them.

Pleased with product
First time investing in an LED grow light and I'm happy I've made the purchase, within two days I could see that my plants were much more vibrant and healthy looking, while the product is small it's bright and works well for its size, I'm using it to start seedlings and already grown herbs so it good for a variety of things, it is a little small so if you want to cover a large area you might want to get multiple or a larger model but overall I'm pleased for what I payed. I've seen other people complain about the sides being plastic but even after running it 18 hours in a day only the aluminum panel on top seems to get hot. It came with a hanging set as well which was nice. I've provided a photo showing my plants and then an above view for size comparison and to see the mounting bracket
