More heavy duty then it looks in the picture!

This is a beautiful knife/cleaver. It is a knife that will be able to cut into a bony rib without any problem and then chop up vegetables nicely because it is heavier then it looks but comfortable enough for rough vegetable chopping. Anything that needs more heavy duty equipment and you will be pulling out a meat ax or saw and anything that needs more intricate cutting and you'll be using a chef knife (although with practice this knife can do almost anything a chef knife can). I was surprise at how large the knife was, it is bigger than a regular size chinese cleaver but felt very secure in my hands.

Wow, just wow! What a knife!

I wasn't sure what to expect - read a lot of the reviews, and couldn't quite believe all the hype until I ordered this bad boy. Was delivered early morning, and the opening experience is quite a joy and felt like I was opening up a Surface Pro or iPhone/iPad. Soft velvet on the inside of the box, plenty of details on how to use and maintain your new investment, as well as a super sturdy sheath that has a pin to keep it on the knife. The knife itself is definitely every bit of 1.3 pounds, and takes very little effort to cut through things. The first use was a pineapple, and what previously took me 5-7 minutes to complete was done in about 3-5, roughly half of the time. Nice mirror finish, beautiful handle. I must say that I'm glad I saved myself $250 by opting to get a Dalstrong. Will certainly look to this brand in the future for any additional knife needs!

best Cleaver/Butcher knife I ever used

The Ravenger Cleaver/Butcher knife, while there really isn`t much else to say, because the description has it pretty much covered , I will tell you what I think . I think this Dalstrong Cleaver is another piece of kitchen art. It is rather big , even though I knew 9" , once you hold it in your hands, it looks huge, in a good way, because it can tackle just about anything. I used to only buy cheap knives, but Dalstrong changed my mind about investing in better quality . The package is fantastic, it`s like a little surprise , just like christmas opening the presents. This cleaver has a great weight and feels awesome in your hand. The blade is sharp and easily cuts through bone.I feed raw to my dogs and chop up a lot of chicken and it easily cuts through bigger bones with just one stroke . Dalstrong makes awesome quality products and I can highly recommend this Gladiator of Cleavers :-)

The description of this company is nothing short of spot on. I think this cleaver far exceeds my expectations. I love the fact that the cleaver comes with a plastic protective sheath, with a clip to stop it from accidentally falling out. The weight and balance is better than expected. It is a heavy instrument so it may take some time getting used to if all you are used to using are lightweight knives. Company support and follow up is nothing short of amazing. and I will be buying from them again. I plan to fill my kitchen with Dalstrong's products. They really are that good! I give five stars even though the blade did come with some scratches and dirty marks on it out of the box. But even still the product is as advertised and then some. I have never been so excited about a company's support but they truly are on the ball and want to make their customers happy with such quality products as this. Thank you from a happy user.

A Clever Cleaver

I recently purchased 3 knives from Dalstrong, "Cleaver Butcher Knife 9" - Gladiator Series -"The Ravenger" - German HC Steel" being one. Everything about Dalstrong underscores the word 'Quality'. All 3 knives are exceptional; from the sharpness and strength of the blade to the weight and construction of the handle to the visual aesthetics of the knives themselves. These knives were truly made to last. I would prefer the cleaver to be a little heavier but so far it's chopped through chicken bones with no problem and essentially, that's mostly what it will be used for. Also, the rounded edge is pure genius, simply roll the knife over joints and voila!

Observable Intangible & Tangible Excellence

Of the intangibles and tangibles, I'm smitten that Dalstrong actually follow up the simple sale of a single blade with multiple well timed and thought out correspondences; even though, I was initially skeptical about thev praises other customers had given the customer services of the Dalstrong company. And, the RAVAGER seems well engineered for an optimal balance of form and function: Outwardly, the material and workmanship is as good as or better than my Sasaki, Shun, Henckels, Wusthof, Belgique, Lamson, Chicago Cutlery, and Gerbel.

Now this is a knife!

This cleaver cuts through chicken bone like butter and the edge holds up really well (see photos). It is quite heavy and massive compares to standard kitchen knives but that's a good thing for a butcher knife.

Hefty cleaver

I have not yet put it to the "bone test", but it feels substantive and high quality to hold. One needs to have a thick cutting board to heave this knife on. Comes nicely packaged and can be considered gift worthy. I also liked the knife guard which allows it to be kept in drawers. Will buy another Dalstrong.

A kitchen powerhouse!

This cleaver/butcher knife is fully deserving of the nickname "Ravanger". This is one heavy-duty cleaver. Brutally effective at cutting up a whole chicken, or any large cut of meat. Bones don't stand a chance, with this kitchen powerhouse. The handle on this knife is slightly shorter and thicker, than my other Gladiator Series knives. It gives it a nice heft and perfect balance. This knife is also great for slicing and dicing, on a large scale. I love the wide blade, for scooping up and for transferring from board to pot or pan. This cleaver is the same high quality blade, and artistic beauty, as my other Gladiator Series knives. I believe anyone would be more than pleased with this purchase!
