Popped right in place in less that 2 seconds. I didn't have any broken pieces from the old cap. The new one popped right on as it was supposed to same as factory. Tight fit on my 2006 F-150 4X4 console shifter.

My old shifter cap in my 2006 F150 KR Super Crew was 'flaking'. After stabbing my hand on it a few times, I got tired and ripped it off. That was worse. I was afraid I was going to have to buy the entire shifter (thanks Ford), until I found this item. It shipped fast, looked solid, and installed in a snap. Not sure why anyone would have problems installing this. Now my shifter looks new and I don't get stabbed anymore. If yours is broken, don't hesitate... this is what you need. Buy it, fix it, and be done with it. 5 stars -- highly recommended.

Followed the instructions and went right in, perfect. 7 years ago Ford charged me $59.99 and said I had to buy the whole assembly. Awesome deal, thanks. AGB

This is an excellent aftermarket replacement part for these shifters. The chrome was peeling on my original factory unit and the dealer said that you had to buy the entire shifter handle to get the cap. This snaps right in as a replacement, there is no visible difference, and there is no longer any chrome peeling off the original to potentially stick or cut your hand.

I was an idiot and tried to match the clips on this replacement up to the mounting positions of the original cap. Don't do that... this one snaps into place a little more towards the center of the shifter just on the inside of the original mounting bracket. After Sam from Day One Automotive corrected the error of my ways this was a snap to install and fits tighter than the original.

This fit perfectly on my 2005 F150. Made the inside of my truck look as good as the outside. So excited that my hand will no longer be cut by the old shifter knob.

Great replacement for original part that has chrome worn off. Fits well, it is a little tricky to get the old parts plastic tabs out of the keepers. Snaps in well, it does have just a touch more of a gap between shifter body and cap but I wouldn’t notice unless I had seen it back to back with the original. Some reviews said you don’t have to remove old cap tabs but I found that to not be true in my case. Happy with it

my factory cap had the chrome peeling off. The chrome was so sharp it sliced my finger deep enough to want to get stitches, but being a car guy I just grabbed some tape and toilet paper and taped up my finger until I could get home to get the super glue out and glue my finger shut. The cap was torn off in a fit of rage and tossed in the dumpster. I had been driving around for a few months with out it. I wanted to do a shifter swap to a newer F150 with the leather wrapped grip. How ever I never have time to work on my own cars so I put it off and off until I was cleaning it last week. The missing cap was driving me nuts. I hopped on Amazon and found this cap. This cap works even if you have broken the clips on your original one and the tabs are still stuck in the shifter. So I ordered it with low hopes being that it was cheap and from Amazon and likely chinese junk. It arrived in 2 days and last night I popped it on in the dark and all was right with the world again. My shifter no longer tries to take my fingers off or poison me with superglue. Its no longer missing and looks like a truck you would find at a broken down buy here pay here lot. I know now that I could sell this truck for top dollar and buy myself a lambo with the money.

I bought an F-150 that was missing the cap on the shifter. This one was a perfect replacement. I did have to get a screw driver and needle nose pliers to remove one of the broken off tabs first (I think on the back), but the other two tabs on this replacement cap clip in differently than the OEM one, so I didn't have to bother trying to remove those two broken ones first. It looks exactly like it should. I'm very happy with it.

As others have said, this cap doesn’t attach exactly the same way the factory part does. There are two clips closer to center that straddle the molded plastic support inside the shifter. There are then small plastic flanges where you would expect clips to be. These need to be oriented in the correct direction to allow them to fit around the original clip housings. It’s kind of a brilliant design as it allows for some bits of broken clips from the original part to remain in the shifter if necessary. I still had to dig out one broken clip and a bunch of glue but the design of this replacement part did make it quite a bit easier than it otherwise would have been.
