We are extremely happy with this hay rack. We have two guinea pigs and a midwest cage for them. This hay rack fits well with the midwest cage. The metal cage on the front has a top spring, so you lift it up to fill, and then the cage holds onto the hay. It is a very strong spring, and the cage stays down very firmly. Our piggies have never had any issues getting hay out. Filling it is very easy. The screw cap on the back is easy to get on and off for removing from the cage to clean. This was one of the highest rated hay racks I saw when researching what to get. I have not been disappointed and would recommend this to anyone.

Best hay feeder I have found thats not messy & Super easy to use

Love these hay feeders!!! I have purchased 3 of these for different areas that my dwarf rabbit plays. I couldn't be happier with how easy it is to use & it contains the mess from getting all over the outside of the cage area on the floor. I have waisted so much money on other products & finally found something that actually worked!!!! It's easy to fill & you don't have to remove it to fill. Just lift the spring held bar & fill it up, then it comes right back down since the bar that holds down the hay is spring loaded. The bottom part contains all the extra that falls down not your floors. The only mess would be what your animal pulls out & doesn't eat! It holds plenty for my baby. Love it !

Good quality and design, minimizes waste, low profile

Like most rabbit owners i was tired of seeing all the wasted Timothy hay wasted away at the bottom of our bunnies cage. I bought some other terrible wire based hangars, but ended up with the same result. I am very satisfied with this design, as it actually holds the hay and minimizes waste. The construction is solid, and the metal grate has a good quality spring to hold down the hay. In addition, it also has a low profile mount with a turn /screw style mount. Overall happy with the purchase.

Less mess

This fits well on my c&c cage with 6 in walls. To load with hay, you just pull the spring back and slip a handful or two in the tray portion, and the grate holds it in place. I load it while it's in the cage and pull some partial hay strands loose and leave some sticking out the sides so my guinea pigs can get to them easier, but even without that the hay is more accessible than in my 2-in-1 bin feeder. Guinea pigs were at first perturbed that they couldn't pull out huge portions and spread them over the cage floor for trampling, but they seem to have adjusted. It definitely has reduced wasted hay and will make cage cleanings a lot easier.

Great Product!

My guinea pigs absolutely loves this hay feeder. It keeps the hay off the floor so the hay remains clean and fresh. No more being stepped on, for mixed with pee and poop. Very easy to fill, attach to the cage and for them to enjoy. I don't recommend using this for very young guinea pigs because of the spring loaded wire frame in the front which holds the hay in. Their tiny heads may get caught in it if they try to grab the hay from underneath. Other than that, it's a great product that I highly recommend.

best hay feeder we've found

We tried two other hay feeders in our guinea pig cage before this one. This one is MUCH better, and is the only one we kept. The other two were worthless and left hay all over the bottom of the cage in a total mess, and the piggies would knock the other ones right off the side of the cage. This Mkono costs a little more but is totally worth it. First of all it attaches firmly to our Midwest cage, so the piggies cannot knock it off. Second, the hay is held in nicely by a spring attachment, and this feeder has a bottom so that hay cannot fall out the bottom. The piggies have no trouble getting their hay and seem to love this feeder. It is also washable, and I hand wash it once in a while with dish soap in the sink. Overall the only feeder I have ever tried that was worth keeping!

Great for guinea pigs!

So easy to load with hay. Great size and nice large grate so I can give my guinea pig the longer stranded hay, which is better for them and usually difficult to get to through hay feeders. It was delivered in very careful packaging, so I appreciated that too.

Great Bunny Feeder

We have a small rabbit and this thing is perfect. The wire cage is spring loaded and holds the hay up at a great eating height. The trough keeps the crumbs from getting everywhere. The nut on the back fits most wire cages.

This product makes life easier for me and my bunnies...just grab a handful of hay...pick up the gate door...put hay up against the back and put down the gate to lock the hay in place. The look of the product is awsome. Both of my rabbits eat out of it and they love it. One thing about owning bunnies or any animals who eat hay...you have to realize that it's messy but come to the conclusion that you need something that will hold a good a quantity of hay while your away at work and or school...and get a product that is durable and easy to use. Choose wisely...I have wasted over $40 over the past 5 years trying to get a nice hay bin...finially I have found it! ❤ 5 out of 5!!

Five Stars BUT...

Update: the product worked fine but after finding out that HAY RACKS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR GUINEA PIGS, I removed them from the cage. Too many foods, treats and cage accessories are marketed towards guinea pigs even though they are dangerous or unhealthy. I just wanted to take a minute to update my review and strongly encourage guinea pig (and all pet) owners to really research everything well before purchasing it for your pet. The product still gets five stars because it's well made and I'm sure it's perfect for other small animals. I purchased two and they are perfect for my guinea pigs.
