It works exactly the way it's suppose to be used. You slide it down until it hits the bottom pan and you stop. For the guy (Brian) on Nov. 30th 2018 that gave it a 1 star rating and said it has a design flaw, it was actually the user with the design flaw. He thought the dipstick goes all the way to the handle... NOT! What he did was he forced it all the way to the handle. This A/T Dipstick Gauge covers 32 different Makes / models which also covers a wide range of years, Engines and Transmission Types so of course it's going to be long for some vehicles. It's only to check fluid and you remove it until the next time you want to check the A/T fluid level again.

Bought this for my 2009 Jeep Liberty which doesn't have a transmission dip stick. This does the trick and like that it has a chart for my type of transmission. Just dont put stick all the way in or it will get stuck. Just put in until you touch bottom of pan. It reads true levels, took Jeep for oil change and had Dodge dealer use their transmission stick and it is just like this one. So im very happy to be able to check fluid without having to go to dealer every time. I would highly recommend.

With a fleet that includes 4 Dodge Grand Caravans, this saves us a lot of money since we don't have to send them out to the dealer or a shop to check the transmission fluid. It comes with an instruction sheet that shows the required fluid level for several different models and also a sliding scale of what the level should be at different temperatures.

Worked perfectly. You can get the trans fluid temp from almost any scan tool with live data and they included the chart for the level. For those of you that don’t have a scan tool a little tip. If you know the outside temp, you know your trans fluid temp if the car has not run for several hours. Trans temp rises quickly so, if its 70 outside and you start the car the trans will probably gain 20 degrees or more in 5 min or less. So don’t forget to add the extra temp in. You can always use an non-contact thermometer and get the temp of the trans pan thus a fluid temp.

Do not expect it to seat where your trans oil cap is. This is used to measure levels &put away as you would any tool. Comes with specs for a variety of dodge transmissions, mine being the 42lre, to determine the proper level/temperature I purchased it thinking it was a dipstick i could just seat (in my jeep anyway), but seller was great.. Either way, its a must doing a trans service or .. really, u just need be able check your fluids. -And i havent found one that seats properly yet so.. i definitely reccomend

I have a 2013 dodge avenger and buying this dipstick was a life saver for my transmission. The technician where I got my engine oil change advised me that the transmission was leaking fluid and it was gonna be an extra charge to find it. So I became proactive and bought this dipstick. I eventually found the leak on my own by checking my coolant lines. The packaging came with instructions on how to read the dipstick. FYI, it is not a permanent dipstick, its purpose is for checking fluid level only. I hate sealed transmissions and this method has forced us new car owners to spend more (rant done). Thank you for reading.

Yup, You can check your transmission fluid in a 2008 dodge caliber look at the 40 mark on the dip stick. Dont get cvt fluid on your skin man that stuff stinks

Works perfectly for what it is made to do. Those people who say it is too long do not understand that this is a tool that is meant to measure the depth of the fluid, not something to replace an old fashioned style dipstick.

Transmission was jerking downshifting into gears. Went to the dealership to buy a transmission dipstick to check my fluid level and they said that they didn’t sell one for my vehicle. They wanted a couple hundred dollars just to service my vehicle. Then I found this product online. After receiving this product I checked my transmission fluid and it was low on fluid. Followed the chart and filled it up to the right MM and then took it for a test drive and the jerking went away. Easy to use and it works.

I followed the directions on the enclosed paper, measured from the tip of the dipstick up to the length designated on the paper. I marked that spot with a black magic marker for this use and all future uses. I inserted the dipstick and stopped inserting at the black mark. Pulled the dipstick back out and got a perfect reading. This dipstick is not designed to insert All The Way, only to the designated mark (place). My measurement is 36 inches up from the tip. Works fantastic!!!
