Results were almost the same as ancestry results

Wasn't sure what to expect with the MyHeritage DNA Test Kit but we were all pleasantly surprised. The test itself was simple and easy to use, and we received email updates from MyHeritage while they were processing our DNA. When we got the results we were really interested and surprised to see what came up. Little did we know we had relatives in countries around the world. To view the results, we logged in to MyHeritage with the password they provided and were able to view the results. We were able to see both in map and list form how many people and from what regions we were related to. It gave us specific details as to what percentage of our DNA came from what regions of the world, and how were were related to various other people. We have the option to message and connect to distant relatives via the MyHertitage website. (Only frustrating part was that you have to sign-up to MyHeritage Premium to really take advantage of reaching out to people. Something we're really tempted to do now that we've seen what its capable of...) Overall, the process was much simpler than expected and we got really interesting results that we never expected! The world is definitely a smaller place than we imagined...

Much sooner than I was expecting. The results seem to be pretty much what I expected. Great deal for $59. It also presented me with about 6 good matches (known cousins) and dozens of unknown cousins of lesser quality matches. FYI, the postage was just one stamp. So I guess about 49 cents. The package weighs next to nothing. It's just a small envelope.

Loved doing this. Was nice to have the option to buy it on amazon and saved money versus its availability on their website. Got my results back a few weeks after I sent it and it was so fun to know more about my ancestry lines! My family was really surprised by some of the results. Super easy system to use from start to finish.

Got the DNA test kit to see what all the hype about knowing your DNA was about. This one is super easy to use and the results are fun (if not earth shattering for me :)). Would recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about themselves (and aren't we all ... just a little?).

I always see the commercials for your heritage and the guy said he always wore lederhosen, but found out he wasn't German, so he changed the outfit he wears. I kinda thought it was cheesy, because who really doesn't know what hr heir heritage is, unless you were an orphan or something. So I bought it...sent the cheek swab in...and when the results came back, I had the same thing. I was brought up knowing my great grand parents came from Germany... And bam, I have no German in me at all...I'm English...which was a complete shock. My ancestors must have went from England to Germany then to the US. Was really cool! I highly recommend this. I did a bunch of research to see which company was the highest rated...and chose My heritage because it was clearly the best rated. I agree...they're awesome!

The beginning: I started with 23andMe, then moved on to Ancestry DNA. I wanted to see if there were any differences. There were a couple. The main two differences were: 1) 23andMe showed a 40% range of Irish/British (zero Scandanavian) and Ancestry showed 50% range Scandinavian (zero British/ 3% Irish). 2) 23andMe showed .08% African (zero West Asian) and Ancestry showed 4% West Asian (zero African). This had me REALLY confused, so I decided to look more into how the DNA testing process works, along with all of the details I thought I already knew from previous research. These DNA testing companies are able to give results based on their detailed research they have done on a reference population. It is different for every company. The main thing to keep in mind is the size of the reference group. The larger the group the more accurate the results. MyHeritage makes their testing available Internationally. People around the globe are doing this testing adding to this reference population. Via DNA testing company ways they are able to map different algorithms and locations to find where people in those regions would be from. Previous tests vs MyHeritage: 1) My testing with MyHeritage was able to tell me that the reference group that Ancestry DNA had was more accurate. Knowing that many of the British and Irish (23andMe) people migrated from the Scandinavian region, somehow these tests were able to track that. This was done likely through the comparison using algorithms of people who share DNA SNPs in both Scandinavia and Britain/Ireland. Knowing that Scandinavia is the original location these people migrated from, these tests were both able to show that I am over 50% Scandinavian and not British at all (with much greater detail in reason than I am knowledgeable about of course). 2) My testing with MyHeritage was able to tell me that the reference groups that 23andMe had, agreed that I have African DNA. Whatever the DNA segment is, it simply isn't in Ancestry's system. Ancestry DNA was unable to locate it and put a name to it like the other two tests did. BUT...Not only was MyHeritage able to verify for me that I was African, but it was able to pinpoint the location to KENYA. Some people from a Kenyan bloodline had gone through the testing and become part of MyHeritage's reference DNA. People from that area had a specific gene that lined up with one I have that showed up in my test. This along with a ton of other factors (SNP's tested and algorithms and other gene carrier factors) proves the Kenyan heritage. The main reason for MyHeritage DNA is by having the largest reference group and the fact that I was able to compare between these three companies myself and was able to see these differences. I can see how this company is on top as many online reviews and top lists place them. The fact is your family members can tell you your entire life where you are from. Until you or they are tested, there really isn't any way in knowing. Yes, my grandfathers parents were from Poland and spoke Polish and immigrated to the US. But does this mean that they didn't have any blood from West Asia or even from the Iberian Peninsula from their personal heritage as well? Of course not! This is where MyHeritage DNA is proving to be on top! **Don't forget! Your DNA doesn't change, but the population group does! As time progresses and more advances in technology are made your results may transform and become more and more accurate! I mean, really, it's a guessing game any way you look at it. MyHeritage is in the top! Forget 23andMe (except for the Health part, that stuff is great) and forget Ancestry DNA (except for their tree stuff, those Mormons really like helping out their dead family members, apparently that's a thing..and it makes their Tree system great as well). Summary: MyHeritage is the best company. Just go for it!

I was very shocked and surprised as I always thought I was part Indian but I am mostly all European

WOW! That was an eye opener! I discovered that I am literally from all over... From Europe to South America. I even got some suggested distant relatives matches. How cool! I have already bought some more kits for my family so they can also join the DNA database and who knows... we might even find some more family members we didn't know existed.

I'm not absolutely 100% certain of the accuracy of the results yet. I have one family lineage to confirm. Then I may be able to give it a 5 instead of a 4. The test is easy, but they don't tell you in the instructions to keep the sample bottles upright when they are open. They include a preservative fluid of a measured amount which is critical to keeping your sample(s) viable. The part I liked is that they are discreet and your information is not sold or shared with other services or programs. You also have the absolute right to decide how widely (or not) that you want to share your information.
