I've been a customer of LIFX since July 2016, I have four of their lightbulbs. I use other "smart" lightbulbs (Geeni, Ilumni, Phillips, GE) but I will only attest to LIFX. The colors are the richest, the whites are the brightest and the app is the easiest to use. A few weeks back one of my lights was giving trouble, it wouldn't get as bright white as it used to. I was upfront and told LIFX that it had been two years since my purchase. Within four days I had a free replacement. A company that stands by their product, finally. Before receiving this item, my questions were (1) if I get six, do I have to put them all together in order to use them or can I place each one separately all over the house? (2) is the light rechargeable or do I have to plug it in? LIFX never said anything about these being outdoor lights but I've put them in my screened-in patio and I hope that the steamy Georgia humidity won't do any damage. So to answer my own questions: (1) Yes, you get six and you do have to connect all of them together. They connect through a tiny magnetic thingy on each light. The magnet is not very strong and if you let them disconnect just a little, the lights will turn off. They don't have to be in a straight line because you receive a connector piece that has the magnetic connection on three of its sides. (PICTURE: Instructions, and the different patterns you can have for your beams) However, each light is a separate entity and you can control the color of each one separately (or you can control all six as one light). Controlling each light separately takes a little finesse, because not only can you control the color of each light separately, but each light has three or four invisible quadrants, and you can have up to four different colors on one light. (PICTURE: I couldn't capture it very well, but you can see that you are able to have many segments of color) (2) it would be nice if they were rechargable but alas, you have to plug it in just like any appliance. Luckily I have my Amazon Echo to control it and it works perfectly. To use it you have not not only have the LIFX app but once you go into the Alexa app, you have to download the LIFX skill. Have Alexa search for the device, link it to your account and you're good to go. I call my light "Beam" so I control it by saying "Alexa, turn on the beam" "Alexa, turn the beam blue" or "Alexa, dim the beam by 50%." To be clear, you cannot say "Alexa, turn on beam lights 2, 4 and 6." When you use Alexa, you're controlling the unit of 6 lights as a whole. The beam provides wonderful ambiance on my patio. I especially like the "MUSIC" effect that lets the light dance to the music for my Mojitos & Merengue parties by the pool (the light actually listens to the music and pulsates to the beat). Of course you can program the light to turn a specific color at a specific time, you can program an Alexa Routine and when you say, "Alexa, let's relax" the light turns pale blue and bossa nova music plays. If you are connected with IFTTT, you can do a million more things. For example, I have the LIFX light in my bedroom flash green three times when I hit a weight goal on my Nokia scale. For the beam, when my husband gets within 200 feet of the house, the light turns a soft red. Here is a tip: once you turn on your light for the first time, save that color as a scene. Once you start experimenting with light colors and scenes, you might not remember which color was the brightest white. I've saved the white as "Factory Setting White" so I can always come back to it. Also, have your phone as close as possible to the light when connecting it for the first time. If you're far away you won't connect no matter how many times you try.

So far so good! My house is wired in hue lights and this is a great addition. It works through my Alexa or Homekit, so no problems there. Also, it's extremely bright which I really like. The bar alone can light up an entire room or be turned down for nice mood lighting!

I'm satisfied with the product that I bought. Fast delivered

Absolutely love it, setup was also easy!

Cool lighting display! Works with app.

They are really kool and fun. Very bright

I love the LIFX beam! It's a great accent piece. My only complaint is the price-point. It's a little expensive, but it looks awesome. Not to mention it's unbelievably bright!

OK, this thing ended up blowing me away. It can change to any color on the spectrum, is dimmable, and has a million custom themes and effects that you can tinker with. You do need the app to utilize the effects (and just to install it), but you do NOT necessarily need the Apple Home or the Google Home apps. Installing the physical lights is easy - the pieces plug into each other via magnet - but you have to be mindful of how it will plug in. Initially, I had it all set up but then realized that I could only plug it in at the top because of how the magnets are oriented - so I had to flip each piece and install them in reverse. It's one of those things that will make you facepalm if you do it wrong the first time, but it's a really easy mistake to make. I really appreciate that the lights come with velcro on the undersides, and the velcro is how it sticks to the wall. This makes it so that if you ever move the lights, uninstalling the velcro doesn't leave any marks on the wall and is very easy and simple to do. As for the setting up the functionality, start by installing the app (both iOS and Android-compatible). There's actually very helpful tutorials via the app, and I ended up preferring to manage the lights using the app anyways because of all the cool built-in effects it offers. To be honest, I couldn't manage to get it to connect to Google (to control via Google Assistant)... this MIGHT be user-error, or something's not configured right on Google or LIFX's part. I don't know, TBH. You can flip the lights on and off using the Apple Home app, but you can't do much else there, so it felt pretty useless to me to connect it to Apple Home. Be mindful of where/how you place the cord - it connects via magnet, so if you or your dogs/cats trip over it, the lights lose power and shut off. Each time you connect it, or if you add on more lights later, you need to press the tiny reset button on the end of the controller (on the cord).

if it just has the sound react the same nana leaf have
