I don't think I could be happier with my SunJoe. It paid for itself with my first tree trimming. It cuts through my palm branches like butter. One of my palms has sharp spikes on the branches so the standoff distance is participating useful. No oil leaks etc. that others have reported. They probably didn't screw the oil cap in.all the way or weren't careful to ensure the cap retaining string was fully inserted and not caught in the threading. Awesome tool.

I am very pleased with the performance of this Hedge Trimmer. Although it is heavy when using on extension pole (I expected this), it was easy to handle at heights of 10 feet plus. Switching between the pole and regular use was a breeze as well. Blades cut through 1/2" branches easily and took on branches that were slightly thicker with a little more effort. Highly recommend this yard power tool!

First, this is a great trimmer and I'm impressed with the function vs price. I am a bit skittish of power tools, haven't used anything major since shop class in high school ages ago. I do have a healthy respect for safety and doing things by the book so you don't cut off body parts. I was able to trim the overhead face of a tall hedge that extends up to 10 feet - and didn't need to get on a ladder. We are talking a 40 foot length - there is more but I knew I didn't want to overdo it. Only worked a little over half an hour but 2 days later still feeling it. Nearly unable to put a jacket on my shoulders & upper arms are so sore. Still considering how much of a time saver this was I can't complain. Will just need to really pace myself for the rest. For the top of the hedge I'll need to get on a ladder and saw through the large branches first - I am bringing down the top of the hedge around 2 feet so there is no way this trimmer could handle the diameter of some of the branches. But after I get the hedge down to a good height in the future it should be quick & easy. Despite being not that tall, older & with arthritis I was able to do a tremendous amount of work in a pretty short amount of time.

GREAT PRODUCT AND AWESOME PRICE

This product is awesome. It's a little bit heavy but it works very well. I would recommend this.

I received my hedge trimmer yesterday and put it in service today. I have quite a few evergreen shrubs and trees that were planted over 20 years ago and have grown too large for a normal hedge trimmer. I bought a different brand pole hedge trimmer a few years ago, but with only a 2.8 amp motor, it just couldn't handle the work. Last time I tried to use it, it simply could not cut anything without gnawing on it for a long time. I ended up standing on a ladder and using a long handled bypass lopper to cut the branches. With my bad knees, this was not an ideal situation for someone of my age (late 70's). This one has the biggest motor (4.8 amp) that I could find on an electric pole hedge trimmer, which was the main reason I chose it. It ate right through the branches with no difficulty. A number of people have mentioned the weight, but I'll gladly accept the extra weight for the extra power that a large motor provides. I have one evergreen tree that is over 15' and it will be a challenge even for this machine, but I hope to get it trimmed this week. It may require this machine and a ladder to get it down to a height where I can maintain it with just this machine, at least that's my hope. My smaller 10' evergreens and holly bushes shouldn't present too big of a job for this machine. I considered getting a gas trimmer, but I only trim the trees/bushes 2 or 3 times a year, so a gas trimmer wouldn't be very cost effective for me. This machine is probably the closest I can get to the power of a gas trimmer with an electric trimmer.

I needed a pole trimmer to cut back my unruly bamboo. I live in FL and have a certain variety I use as a hedge. Now, I'm not saying that the Sun Joe will but bamboo stalks - that's a job for loppers. What it does a fantastic job of is cutting all the bushy leaves back. This bush is 15 feet tall. My old method was to balance unsafely on a ladder with a conventional trimmer and hope for the best. This pole trimmer reduced the time it took to trim up the bamboo by 75%, I never had to get on a ladder to trim the sides due to the extension. It's powerful and never bogged down for a minute. The fact that it converts to a conventional trimmer is a total bonus. It works great either way. Would buy again.

Surprised there aren't more reviews for this. This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Granted it doesn't quite *quite* as well as my gas powered echo, it does an amazing job for an electric. We have very tall hedges / bushes that always involved complex ladder ninja skills to reach. This thing laughed in their face! It's a bit heavy fully extended but I don't know how you could design it any better. I'm a 40 year old and go to the gym once in a blue moon and it wasn't too tough to use. Considering it was saving my life from being on a ladder, teetering at odd angles staring death in the face - I'll take it. Having the option to remove the pole and use it as a compact trimmer was a genius move. I found myself using this for even the smaller jobs. Buy use. Use it. You won't regret it.

We had an extension hedger, black and decker- which was rechargeable battery. we got this because our other one broke, and we couldn't fix it. DO NOT BUY RECHARGEABLE BATTERY lawn equipment! The batteries don't last, no matter the brand; the power is just not even close. This one, blows our other one out of the water. We love the fact that it is "convertible" and lighter weight, while still being eco-friendly using power. Since we have solar, this is a double win. Extremely easy to use, performs smoothly as well as easy to store. Great purchase.

I acquired this to trim a fence line of about 70 feet in length, not shrubs but woody plants that grow at a ferocious rate to heights from 8 to 10 feet . Decided to take a chance since the cost is minimal to what my lawn service charges me . I have Neuropathy- Spinal Stenosis and Drop Foot and a very limited range of free standing balance, but found I could manage it thanks to the support harness and the trimmer head angle adjustment feature. I did not have to extend the wand since the contracted length was ample for what I needed to do. It is well made , somewhat unwieldy and heavy , but it works fine. I do not plan on using the trimmer without the wand ,in the compact mode (no wand) it requires two hands for operation one on the switch the other on the safety bar. I simply use another lighter trimmer for lower trimming that allows one hand operation. The value is exceptional, well made it meets my needs.
