This works easily and quickly on my Dell laptop, even for the computer illiterate like me. Freed up several GB of storage in a few minutes, and plenty of room left on the drive to move more when I want. So the device is definitely five stars, the instructions not so great. The instructions say when finished do not just unplug the drive from your computer, but not clear on how to remove it. Here's how to safely remove the drive from a PC running Windows 7: Go to Control Panel, then Hardware and Sound, then Devices and Printers, then Portable SSD T5. RIGHT click on that image, then left click EJECT, then you will receive a message, “safe to remove…” That's when to unplug the drive.

Great Product and Great Delivery. Ordered and Received on the same day. I own a Macbook Air and when I bought it I thought I would never need a 256 GB Hard Drive (actually SSD … the 256 GB SSD cost $200 more), but low-and-behold I did and suddenly I was down to about 10 GBs of available space. Worse, I found that I could not upgrade my internal 128 GB SSD to a 256 GB SSD via Apple. And as much as I love my Macbook, I didn’t want to buy a new one since I am already at El Captain. So I researched the issue and found out I could actually have a bootable external drive to run my Macbook Air. I was a little dubious because the external Samsung SSD I bought from Amazon.com was connected via a USB port. I was afraid it would be slower than what I was use to getting with the internal SSD. But after getting the 256GB Samsung SSD and restoring my latest Time Machine backup to it and making the Samsung external SSD bootable, I was delighted with the speed. It is at least as fast as the internal SSD and maybe a tiny bit faster. So I went from an Internal 128GB SSD to a external 256 GB SSD in the matter of a few hours!!! I waited to write this review, because I wanted to wait and see how things went over time and they have gone fantastic over the last month. I now have a 256 GB main SSD drive albeit external (very tiny) and I use the internal SSD for my secondary backup storage (primary backup storage is Time Machine on another external non-SSD hard drive). Anyway, great product by Samsung and incredible delivery by Amazon.com

Works perfect for Xbox One X! Loaded PubG onto it and haven't crash once in 2 days of gaming! Texture loads faster too after parachute landing. Game does load faster as well. People with original xbox or the S should definitely get this to help load times.

Purchased it slightly used to save a few dollars through 'Amazon Warehouse Deals', but this thing is a great buy! Because of its aluminum build, it will get pretty warm, but not too bad (it's bearable). It has everything you'd want, nice finish, light, portable and ultra fast! (if using USB C) because using the adapter IS going to cut down on performance so your mileage may vary. The only issue I had was when I first connected the SSD to my (win 10) PC which it wasn't showing as a drive under "My Computer" but once that got resolved everything was seamless. Honestly, Samsung kills it when it comes to SSD's, Sandisk just doesn't come close. I am attaching a screenshot of my results, but do be advised that it was my first time using that software to test the Drive, so it could be possible that my settings were not properly set. During my testing of a 160GB folder, it took some minutes cycling between 15 to 30 percent and then after that it throttled more to transfer files faster and stayed above 180 MBs/sec for a while. Glad I went with this portable SSD.

I bought this to backup daily shoots on a photographic trip. Worked very well, no glitches, plug and play with a MacBook Pro. Using USB 3.0 port on my laptop, the files transferred quickly (as USB goes). No complaints whatsoever and unit is small, easy to stash in my camera bag.

Haven't had this thing 2 hours yet and already love it. I bought it for my Xbox One (just standard, no S or X). I started by running a stopwatch and benchmarking loadup times for the games I play the most/ usually take the longest to load. I started with Fortnite, Xbox load time was right at 2 minutes (till I got to the screen where I can invite people or join a match). On the SSD I loaded in at 1:22.. Then PubG, load time on Xbox till I could join a match was 44 seconds. On the SSD was 30 seconds, on top of that the buildings load in so much more quickly for me. I haven't played enough to say much more about the rest of the gameplay though. But as far as what I wanted it for it works just fine.

I uses this as a "backup boot drive" for my Macbook. I clone my boot drive to it using Carbon Copy Cloner on a weekly basis and have booted it from it several times flawlessly. It is also surprisingly small and the casing feels very rugged and not plastic-like. If someone asked me "what would you change about it?" I would answer: 'Not a thing'.

blazing speed. Backed up a MAC on a time capsule.....15 hours for 70 GB!!! On this SSD, same backup took 22 mins!!!

A little while ago a buddy of mine bought a 2TB Seagate external hard drive for his Xbox One and told me about how much faster he loads into games now. He plays Battlefield and Destiny and says he's the first to load into maps nearly every time. If you've played Destiny, then you know the load times suck going to/from orbit pretty much anywhere, and Battlefield maps can take a while some times, so having an external hard drive shave that time down by any amount is much appreciated. I bought this SSD with Destiny 2 in mind, certain that Bungie would still plague us with long load times. Fortunately, they aren't as bad as Destiny 1, but here is the rough breakdown of load times which, understandably can vary due to network-related issues (internet, Xbox Live, Bungie servers, or all), but these are the results when we timed ourselves in various situations (ALL on wireless internet connections): With Destiny 2 completely closed out, from Xbox Home screen to Destiny 2 main menu (exactly when the "Press A to Start" appears): - 12 seconds with the Samsung T5 - 15 seconds with friend's 2TB Seagate hard drive - 17 seconds with default Xbox One Overall, not much difference but there really isn't much to load just getting to that screen anyway. Within Destiny 2, from Orbit to The Farm (excluding that "3, 2, 1" launch countdown): - 32 seconds with Samsung T5 - 44 seconds with friend's 2TB Seagate hard drive - 46 seconds with default Xbox One Within Destiny 2, loading from EDZ to Titan: - 30 seconds with Samsung T5 - 49 seconds with friend's 2TB Seagate hard drive! Our 3rd tester with the default Xbox wasn't present for this one but when I loaded into the mission I was stunned at how long I was waiting for my friend to load in after me - almost 20 seconds later! Now, these aren't scientific, definitive results in any way. We only timed ourselves once so they are not averages, and that last test with my friend being almost 20 seconds behind me doesn't appear to be normal, as once we stopped timing things and continued playing on, we never had a load-time difference that seemed as bad as that again (most likely network related delay). Just last night actually, he loaded into a map before me for the first time ever in the past few days - so while I think it's safe to say the Samsung T5 is generally going to be the faster drive, network conditions can hold it, and anyone, back from time to time. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this little unit. 250GB is plenty of space to load your most important 3-4, load-screen-heavy games onto, and if for some reason you're the type that's playing more than that many games at any time, copying game files to/from this drive is super quick as well. You won't be disappointed!

I save maybe about 10 minutes making weekly backups with this drive compared to my old USB 3.0 HDD. It looks very well-built and I feel more at ease knowing that the AES-256 built in encryption (software encryption kinda like BitLocker-To-Go and not a built-in cryptographic processor) helps keep my files secure from unauthorized users. The thing with using the encryption software is that you'll need the "Samsung Portable SSD Software" downloaded on every computer that you want to open the encrypted drive on. So if you're delivering files to somebody outside your company, for example, that person may not be entirely comfortable or even authorized (admin settings) to download the software needed to access the encrypted drive. However, I am making backups on this drive that I want nobody else to use so I am not bothered by this currently. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.
