Very Good AC600 Dual Band Adapter, 5GHz Has More Channels & Is Less Crowded In My Environments, Simple To Install & Pair
This WiFi adapter is easy to setup and use and I like it for upgrading clients of my IT practice at a reasonable cost. In the latest instance I used the AC600 adapter to replace a old EDIMAX wireless N 150 USB nub that kept dropping connections even with a strong signal. The Netgear AC600 made my client very happy (and me too) with more than 5X the speed connecting to their TP-Link EAP330 access point. I downloaded and installed the latest software from Netgear's site, plugged in the USB adapter which was instantly recognized and paired with the 5GHz band. This client has their office in a building with nearly a dozen access points at 2.4Ghz so that band is pretty crowded. Only a few at 5Ghz which has a lot more channels available! Bottom line for me is this modest USB WiFi adapter does a great job at a reasonable price. I trust the Netgear brand to deliver a good quality adapter. Because it makes my client happy it makes me happy to and that gets 5 stars from me.

**Update** Dead after less than a year.
**Update** This adapter was great when it worked. It was fast and it kept a steady connection. A major downside was what a major pain in the ass it was to get it to connect after waking a sleeping laptop. You had to do quite a lot to get it to pay attention. And now, as of about an hour ago, it has completely quit working. My computer will no longer recognize it as being plugged in, no matter what USB port I put it in, even after a reboot. So now I have to go buy a new one, and it sure won't be another one of these. After fiddling around with a "best seller" adapter that was a nightmare, I returned it and got this one. What a huge difference! Pretty sure both use the same Realtek drivers, but this one actually functions. I get 5Ghz connection with consistent stable speeds pretty close to our internet package max speeds (there are issues with the connection totally unrelated to the adapter) The only downside to this one is occasionally after waking my laptop up the connection is dead in a way that means unplugging and replugging the adapter in. (even with the "let windows put this device to sleep when not in use" option turned off) I can deal with that. Keep in mind that when you do the "standalone" install, it still installs the "genie" software. As far as I can tell the only thing "stand alone" means is that the genie software just doesn't manage the connection, letting the native Windows wifi manager to do it. I wish there was a way to totally avoid the genie software installation completely.

To the Point
The unit works like normal on Windows 10, without following instructions just connect it and W10 will use drivers pre-installed. If It needs an update, W10 will pull the update. I have a mini pc system that doesnt have a cd drive but in 2019 using Windows its a matter of plug and play. You do not need to use the provided software from netgear. Using ATT FIBER 300 and get both down and up over 400 or 340 down and up on WIFI with this. Take into consideration that the Gateway or modem your using (cable companies) the speed you pay for is what you get on Wireless but applies to direct connection, since factors like distance and antenna quality vary. If you're using 1000 down and up, your need to go directly connected but I have not had issues with this unit. It does pull the full 300 up and down on fiber without any issues.

Fast Wi-Fi for an old desktop
I bought this adapter to plug into my desktop from 2009 (that doesn't have Wi-Fi capability by itself). The adapter works well with the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 modem router combo that I bought. (It's so much better than my old Xfinity router. This modem router combo is perfectly compatible with Xfinity Blast internet, by the way.) My desktop gets the Wi-Fi signal without any problems now, and it runs like a much younger computer. This is a high quality adapter that exceeded my expectations. It was worth every penny!

Near gigabit WiFi
I recently upgraded to gigabit ethernet and was looking to get the most out of my WiFi. I was fed up with the onboard WiFi of one of my PCs and tried a couple of different cheap AC adapters, but none of them would push past 200Mbps on the 5GHz AC. Even with the link speed of 877Mbps, nothing would achieve the bandwidth I was looking for. I also wasn't getting a good signal either (~70%) for this PC that's sitting about 15 feet and 2 walls away from the access point. So I tried the Nighthawk because it advertised a link speed of 1.3Gbps (and my router pumps out 1.7Gbps). I'm definitely not disappointed. In various online speed tests, I'm getting a consistent 600Mbps upload and download speed over WiFi (compared to 850 over hardwired ethernet) with this thing and a solid 100% signal and 1.3Gbps link speed. Awesome! I'm using the included extender stand because it's a little flimsy when connected directly into a USB port. The adapter itself a little weighty. It comes with a little docking station that uses a tradition USB connection which you can then dock the adapter in upright - I recommend using it in this fashion. Setup was straightforward, I did have to download the Genie software for Windows to recognize it, and had to reinstall the drivers once to get everything working as desired - minor hiccup in my mind. If you are looking for a super-fast WiFi adapter to pair with a gigabit connection, I'd wholly recommend trying this thing out.

Penetrating Beam Technology
I work on the sixth floor of an office building and like most professionals I bring a personal electronic device (PED) to work. Agency policy requires staff using a PED to utilize office building's public WI-FI system. The broadband Internet access services is located on the second floor, meaning, I have to establish a wireless connection to a signal that is being pushed through four floors of concrete, steel, along with contending with signal interferences from other competing secured networks. Adding to the challenges, my office is located in the back and any attempts to use my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) results with watching the spinner on the screen endlessly turn. After reading several reviews, I purchased NETGEAR'S Nighthawk AC1900 WI-FI USB Adapter (A7000-10000S). I found the installation process was very easy. On first use, the Nighthawk AC1900 WI-FI USB Adapter exceeded all of my expectations. The Nighthawk AC|A7000-10000S Beam Technology not only connected with a signal being pushed through four floors of structural material and competing network signals, this adapter increased my data transfer speeds from an average of 1.2 Mbps to nearly 30 Mbps. In fact, I reach better download speeds than my co-workers. The Nighthawk AC1900 USB Adapter is tech that everyone needs to include in their mobile gear.NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Wi-Fi USB Adapter (A7000-10000S)

Fastest adapter around once you disable Swusb
This thing is blazing fast ,it's the fastest adapter I have used, and I have quite a few bucks.it's Working great after I disabled Swusb in the services. If you see this service running after you install the drivers go to services and disable it. After that my connection stays strong and doesn't drop. Swusb trys to change between 2.0 and 3.0 USB which causes problems

Performs well, but note this
I had been struggling with low WjFi speeds from my upstairs office. I've tried other WiFi adapters in the past, and they were a royal pain to deal with. Although more expensive than most, I decided to try this Netgear adapter. My WiFi speeds instantly *TRIPLED* after installation on my Windows computer. But there's the catch. Installation. Forget the enclosed CDROM and instructions. Don't even bother thinking about it. Download the latest software directly from the Netgear site. Plug in your Netgear adapter and then install ONLY the DRIVER. You do not need any of that other crapware that Netgear wants to load on your computer. Once the driver has installed (you just double-click the driver EXE file to install it), you can log into your network. Happy times on the Interwebs!

THE BEST WIRELESS AC ADAPTER FOR STABILITY AND SPEED
This is my go-to wireless ac adapter when I set up new LANS in homes and offices. I've bought 8 of them so far. This is the one I use at my own home. My two sons live in a converted garage and connect beautifully to the kitchen WAP (a Netgear extender) at full speed if you use a 3 band wap/router like the R8000.

Gaming ms has dropped
I play FPS and MMORPG games. I have 90-120ms while gaming on the WiFi from the mobo. After using this adapter, my ms is now about 73-87 and my connection is 26% more stable according to logs I am running that track my isp. I have my usb connected directly into the front of my PC case. If I use the magnetic adapter/extender I get about 112-126ms which is weird.
