So far so good! I’ve been brewing for 6 days with my new scoby and I was nervous because this purchased scoby sunk, but I have a nice new scoby growing on top of my kombucha! I followed the directions that we’re included with my scoby and it looks like it’s working out! The company sent me an email yesterday (5 days after delivery of scoby) to ask how my brew was going and offered support if needed! Thought that was cool. I would order again should I screw this up

*another update. This was 2 batches good, then must have been my errors in the brewing cycle. I'm glad I did not invest a lot of $ in the beginning( 2 glass bottles and a 2 funnel set + the scoby) Had to toss the scoby and the 3rd brew....maybe I'll try it another time..... 12/12/18 tasted my first cycle 2 days ago, eh, again today, 7 days later it was done!!! Strained and transferred in the fridge a 32 oz bottle. SCOBY in more starter liquid than first time. Just brew up some more sweet tea when I'm ready! I followed the instructions from Joshua Tree, compared the starter ratios to a few others.....very happy So far, good. New to this process. Used black tea and sugar for stater quart. No metal contact with SCOBY, as clean as u could make it. Been 76-82 degrees in my kitchen. The SCOBY appears healthy and am anxious to try a sample in 5-7 more days. Hoping I will get a baby SCOBY from this starter. Will update as needed.

I was starting over after letting a scoby get too old and not properly fed during a long recovery from surgery. I needed a new scoby I was able to brew-up a gallon of kombucha with this little scoby. I added some store bought kombucha to the cooled tea mixture, and it produced a pretty good batch and a nice new scoby. The instructed suggested that I brew quart, but it worked with a gallon. The brew wasn't that strong, but tasted fine and wasn't very sweet. I expect good results from here on out.

Brand new to the concept of home kombucha brewing, I ordered this SCOBY on Sept 18. Didn't get around to using it right away (partially due to intimidation), but took a peek at it through the clear pouch (picture perfect), then placed pouch back into shipping envelope and tucked it into the pantry, where it sat for nearly 5 months! It is now mid-Feb. I finally opened her up last week and put her to work. This SCOBY turned out a FLAWLESS first batch! A beautiful baby grew and the kombucha is beyond delicious. We're currently on Day 3 in F2 bottles. Gave it a little taste this morning and sure enough, there's ample fizz. I refrigerated that bottle and am letting the other 3 hang out at room temp for another day. I've got my second batch fermenting now and plan to continuous-brew as long as healthy SCOBYs keep growing. Doubt I'd have gotten off to a successful start without this SCOBY. Could not be happier with this product!

It is, first of all, very strange to get a blobby monster thing in a plastic pack in the mail. HOWEVER, it is great, worked very well, very much alive, and I recommend this SCOBY to anyone looking at them online. I was drawn to this company because they are local and seemed like good people. It worked out very well. They come with a simple chart for how much tea and sugar to use, which I now keep on my fridge. I made my first batch in about a week, at which point a giant second SCOBY had formed, and the tea was pretty vinegary (in a good way). I did a secondary ferment in swing top bottles by adding some ginger and juice, let them sit for a few days (stir your batch before doing a second fermentation to bottle - I forgot to do this and had some bottles with much more yeast/carbonation than others), and then they were delicious, slightly sweet, tart, effervescent kombucha. It was great. Heads up - when I brew this, even though I have the top of my fermentation container covered with a clean towel, there are definitely fruit flies attracted to it that land on the towel (as they would with any kombucha ferment). I keep a bottle of wine with maybe a half a cup of old wine at the bottom and a drop of dish soap in it as a fly trap right next to my kombucha ferment. I haven't had any problems or any fruit flies at all since. Happy brewing.

So... I’m new to brewing Kombucha & was skeptical at first to order a Scoby online (as to order from local brewer), I also waited to post a review til after my 2nd brew! (I’m on my 3rd brew) Having said all that ... 🙂 1-Scoby arrived on time (Amazon’s prime within two days) 2-It was well preserved judging from my novice 👀 3-My first brew was perfectly fine and Scoby multipllied. 4- On my 3rd brew and I was ready to pull Scoby apart from its new growth. I honestly never had any issues w/the Scoby & even though I’m still super new @ brewing Kombucha, I know this Scoby worked just fine for my needs... Happy Kombucha brewing... Cheers 🍻 I’ve included a few pictures from my first brew u til I was able to pull Scoby apart.

Do not let the size of this SCOBY deter you from buying. She has everything you need to get started along with fabulous instructions. I probably should have brewed a quart first to get a bigger batch of starter tea, but I started with a gallon and let it brew 12 days. Taste is delicious. I now have two more batches going with different varieties of tea. I am very happy with how quickly this arrived.

I am working on my first batch of kombucha so I am not sure I am qualified to review, but the scoby seemed to be in good condition. I am only at 5 days fermenting and I already have a nice even larger baby scoby that has grown on top of my batch. So all seems to be well with the scoby. I was a little concerned that it only had 1/4 cup of starter tea, but it seems to be doing just fine.

Great product. I’ve purchased SCOBYs online before (other sources) and this was easy, fast, and quality, process and product. I’ve had the continuous brew going for a few weeks and had my first batch in secondary fermentation. Because I don’t get a lot of fizziness, no matter how long I ferment, I don’t let the 2nd ferment go any longer than is needed for the flavoring I’ve added to reach their peak...let’s face it...I’m a little impatient to taste it too! My hubby charges up my chilled booch to give it lots of fizz so I don’t have to wait! I highly recommend this source for SCOBYs!

First, this SCOBY arrived perfectly packaged, nice, moist and healthy looking in its starter tea. Second, the card and instructions that came with it were great. We are now on our FOURTH batch of first brew kombucha and our SCOBY is thriving! All of our 2nd ferments have come out great! Fizzy, berry, yeasty, wonderful! We do our second ferment with a few ounces of mango or pear nectar and it only gets better the longer you leave it in the fridge. My sister and I have stomach and intestinal problems and these healthy brews have been so helpful within a couple of days our systems started regulating. I am ordering another because we drink them too fast! We have to start a second brew!
